AND IN THE USA – ANOTHER JERRY CAREY
Washington Area Priest Charged With Indecent Exposure

September 3, 2022 from Catholic News Agency by Staff
A Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of Washington has been placed on administrative leave and suspended from public ministry pending an investigation after he was charged with the misdemeanor offense of indecent exposure Aug. 25.
The allegations in charging documents say that Father Jaroslaw βJerryβ Gamrot, pastor of Holy Face Parish and administrator of Little Flower School in Great Mills, Maryland was masturbating in a vehicle on Route 70 and exposed himself to a man driving in another vehicle, baynet.com reported.
The outlet reported that the incident occurred on Jul. 25 and that Gamrot, 58, allegedly pulled his vehicle next to the manβs vehicle three times and exposed himself, while wearing no pants.

To be fair, you would do, wouldnβt you.
I noticed the other day a mention on another website that Coffey was actually acting superior of Silverstream after Kirby resigned. I presume he and Tom appointed Elijah prior.
I would guess the reason for the short term of this arrangement would be that Glenstal and Silverstream arenβt a natural fit and Tom found a more natural house to help in the shape of Flavigny to appoint a prior.
This is purely speculation but does explain the events and I donβt think for an instant surfing gay porn has ever stopped someone being a Benedictine prior.
Actually Iβve just realized that apart from not being a Benedictine Iβm qualified to be a Benedictine prior myself!

Tom’s mistreatment of Dom Benedict Andersen is absolutely morally reprehensible. An unexpected situation could occur during the pilgrimage to Lourdes.
Can Tom Deenihan be trusted to deal with an unexpected matter responsibly and with integrity? Is it difficult to trust him? Could it be a cause for pilgrimage anxiety?

12:21,
No, Tommy D. cannot be trusted β¦ he is, after all, a Roman Catholic bishop, and all Roman Catholic bishops are taught to protect the institution at all costs, including slitting the throats of the sheep of Christ as needed.
Benedict is a priest and religious and therefore he can be abused and manipulated with canonical loopholes; Benedict must have a good canon lawyer to have been able to withstand Tommy D. so far β¦ but thereβs only so much a canon lawyer can do in the face of an ordinary who is so intransigent and vengeful. Having come from a different tradition, Benedict clearly never learned the number one lesson of the RC clerical mafia: βSnitches get stitchesβ (omertΓ ).
A lay victim, especially a minor, abused during a pilgrimage would be a situation calling for much more delicacy. Unlike with a cleric/religious, ordinaries have to act as if they are helping victims and being kind to them β¦ all the while manipulating the situation to protect their intβ¬rβ¬$t$.
But, of course, there are always cover-up artists like Brendan Coffey who are all too willing to practice their βtalentsβ in order to cement the influential friendship/patronage of a man like Tommy D.
Nor should anyone trust church βsafeguardingβ officials: they are not independent, and know on which side their bread is buttered.

Some remarks:
(1) Stephen Wilson knows where the bodies are buried, lots of them. He should have joined Emirates or Qatar Airways instead of joining the priesthood; he’d have got paid more than at Ryanair and Dubai has a thriving gay scene.
(2) Ger Fitzgerald knows where the bodies are too, lots of them, and even publicly denied the Summer of Love ever happened at Gaynooth. Someone said yesterday he is looking for a payoff. I am not surprised, he has them over a barrel. All he has to do is threaten to talk on Pat’s blog and they’ll pay out. Looks like he has looked at Bill Mulvihill’s carpet-bombing tactics and got inspiration. What I want to know is if errant priests are getting packages, why not victims? Karen is still owed money and Yvonne got feck all except a few therapy sessions. I daresay Ger Fitz is hoping for a big cash payout (instead of a year’s rent in Greystones), sell his own house and put all the dough together to get a new one somewhere else – by all accounts living with his brother is not fun for him. Funny how the RCC always look after their own and fight victims every inch of the way. Really at this stage it should be a proscribed organization, its a serious danger to public health.

God, I’m glad + Pat and his blog wasn’t around when I was a young pup ! I’m sure I wouldn’t have got a chance to sow my wild oats and to quieten down and mature in to some sort of jobbing and pedestrian priest who was able to get on with his job and ministry. Maybe I should have been outed, don’t know ? Anyhow, a youngster in seminary these days does have to keep in the back of his mind that there is little that is not observed and commented on these days. Perhaps no bad thing ? I did a lot of my growing up and maturing in the seminary and in the early days of ministry, and got away with a lot. Nowadays they have to be almost fully formed before they hit the seminary gate. I’m not saying it is a bad thing, our expectations have got a lot higher, and there is not the time or the room for the kinds of silliness that my generation were able to get up to. Besides, I would definitely not counsel a young man today to consider the priesthood but to find other ways of ministry and using his talents for the Lord; we know also that there are not many who are prepared to offer themselves, mostly because they are wiser than were we at their age decades ago, and they instinctively understand that the priesthood is not a means to happiness, a settled life, contentment and being part of something that is whole and healthy. They kind of know that it’s not for them. So, they avoid it. No bad thing. The whole pack of cards needs to fall apart and then we can see what emerges. But, the priesthood that I was brought up in is no longer fit for purpose and in many respects is undermining and crippling for priests themselves, the laity and the Church. It has to die a pretty quick death. We messed it up.

@9:38 β I agree, the world of work is something that we clerics donβt understand, never have, always been self-regulating. Catholic clergy are by and large hugely unprofessional, undisciplined, badly trained etc. No wonder they are pants !
@9:49 β Well, at least I write in full sentences and grammatically correct Englishβ¦.
@9:54 β I have given up my presbytery, and I am able to live in my own very lovely house, and I donβt take a penny from the Church that I worked for over many decadesβ¦..anyhow, they wouldnβt give me anything, because I am considered too well off by the finance people at diocesan HQ and these days they are refusing to support retired priests who have pension and other income above a certain level. Vin even cut the retirement stipend of his retired clergy during Covid. So, Iβm not a βparasiteβ, I thinkβ¦..
And, to all, please consider the substance of my post, which is that young men know better than to become priests. Those that do have ulterior motives these days, or inadequacies that donβt equip them for the real world of work, or some other oddities that lead them in to the seminary. Just look at them in + Patβs blogs. Or they see it as a vehicle to get a quick shag like PB JP or Rory and the likes. Until they make a mistake then go MIA, supported of course by the Churchβs money.

8.37: A good comment.. and sentiments I share. This is the kind of comment that is constructive and amenable to honest, rational and meaningful debate. The sexual abuses and other scandals as outlined on this blog and elsewhere have done almost irreparable damage to everyone and almost destroyed the trust of lay faithful. The present way of priesthood and of being a Church are critically damaged. As you say, the edifice must crumble before something more CHRIST-LIKE can emerge in fullness. There are many wonderful initiatives taking place in parishes to effect this vision. Itβs nourishing for those who are with us and generally they will support their parish initiatives once they are open to all, caring for all, inclusive of all and imitate Jesus in all things. Some commenters have used the revelations in this blog, not to engage in a new dialogue about true and necessary change in priesthoid and church but to score and even up with their nemesis, ex partners, nasty colleagues and just to voice their utter disdain for all things cathoΔΊic. There is rarely among these repeat commenters anything worthwhile except to further denigrate and destroy clerics already on the ground. Thatβs fineβ¦but it leads nowhere.

15
βWoe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
16
βWoe to you, blind guides! You say, `If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.β

Are you insane? ‘…the PRESENT way of priesthood’ must crumble before something more Christ-like can emerge???
Present way, or otherwise, if priesthood remains in ANY form, it will, yet again, wreak havoc in the Church.
When will this penny drop, for heaven’s sake?! Priesthood itself IS the problem, because it was never intended by Jesus. It is (and has historically proven itself, many times) anti-Christ.

Pope Francis today announced “the revocation of all high responsibilities, the dissolution of the current Sovereign Council of the Order of Malta and the constitution of a Provisional Sovereign council” of which he personally appointed Bres. In conflict with the knights for several months over their status, he recalled that “the prerogatives of the Order (… ) do not constitute this set of prerogatives and powers specific to sovereign states.” “Being a religious order, it depends (… ) therefore from the Holy See.” Pontife announces promulgation of the Order’s “new constitutional Charter” and confirms its “immediate effect”. The Order of Malta, founded in Jerusalem and recognized by the pope in 1113, is both “an unusual Rome-based territorial state, a religious order, and a powerful charitable organization,” written in Le Figaro’s columns. The Order of Malta took note of the pontifical decision in its official statement and announced to submit it. Sad day.
