EXCOMMUNICATION?

To me, the word EXCOMMUNICATION, is meaningless!

The Church is God’s family and God has never been in the business of expelling people from His family.

Just look at the Parable of the Prodigal Son – yesterday’s Gospel reading.

“They” tell me I was automatically excommunicated on May 19th 1998 when I was ordained a bishop.

But I’ve never had a telephone call or a letter from anyone confirming that SOMETHING happened to me on that day. I felt nothing on that day or since.

Since 1986 – 12 years previously – I had been banned by the RCC Junta from celebrating Mass or Sacraments in any of their local branches.

That included the Funeral Masses of my nephew Christopher, who took his own life in 1997 and my dear mother who died in 2006.

But the real Cristians of the Unitarian Church in Dublin stepped forward and threw their doors open to me.

They also allowed me to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my ordination there in 2001 and a large number of weddings.

I have found a Christianity in the Unitarians that I have not found in the Church of Rome.

ABORTION

Many people do not realise that any Catholic who procures an abortion or assists in the procurement of an abortion are AUTOMATICALLY EXCOMMUNICATED.

There are therefore hundreds of thousands of men and women, husbands and wives, doctors and nurses etc excommunicated from the RCC.

The Church is two things – in purity it is the People of God.

In its putrid form it is the the RCC institution which has a 1700 year history of murder, rape, paedophilia, pillage, incest, theft, etc, etc.

Excommunication is a device of the putrid.

200 replies on “EXCOMMUNICATION?”

I believe that no human has the right to separate another from union with Christ through Holy Communion. Anyone who claims to have such powers is akin to the AntiChrist. I am a born and bred Catholic. The Pope is fallible, Christ is not. RCC teaching must change. Jesus Christ is the universal head of the Church. Not the Pope. Get real.

I have two things that come to mind.
1. Unitarians don’t believe in the divinity of Jesus. So how can they be Christian?
2. Pope Francis in the Year of Mercy allowed all priests to absolve those who had had abortions. Therefore they are no longer excommunicated as they have been reconciled. (And some dioceses have given their priests continuing faculties to absolve those who have had abortions).

The problem with answering your question is many of us have been excommunicated but, are not aware of being so’
Take for instance the two following two reasons for excommunication;
1)A Roman Catholic priest who in confession solicits another to violate the sixth commandment (can. 1378) I wonder how often that happens, I guess far more often than we are think.
2)A Roman Catholic priest who violates the seal of the confessional (can. 1388) I would lay my life on this one, I am sure it’s violated for more often than we are aware of, even if it’s done accidentally.
However, excommunication does not appear to be a permanent fixture, all is forgiven in Confession.
Another get out clause is, if you don’t know the reasons for excommunication and commit one of the offences, your home and dry, with no sin committed.
By and large, automatic excommunications are not known to the public.
Unless the individual committed the action in a public manner that would cause the local ordinary to issue a statement about the automatic excommunication,
the burden is on the offender to confess the sin and seek the removal of the penalty.
An excommunicated person is not to receive the sacraments. However, if he does so in violation of the law, the sacraments are valid. An excommunicated person who marries has illicitly but validly received the sacrament. In such circumstances the grace of the sacrament would be of no effect, since the person is in a state of mortal sin. In the case of confession, the sacrament would be invalid because all mortal sins must be confessed for a valid confession (CCC 1456), and if the individual withholds the action(s) that incurred automatic excommunication, he’d be withholding a mortal sin.

Go away and learn what it means, will you please and stop constantly using for the same old shite.

And the churchs way of dealing with issues ,regardless of right and wrong within the establishment between clergy is far more complex than a few hail Mary’s and an our father.

How would it look if a bishop is held accountable for two or three corruptable clergy under he’s belt , dealing with an issue. Sometimes that motives decisions, it’s not right but it happens ..How would it look now if more peadoohiles were outted given they are already are hanging by a thread. Cover ups at this stage are desperate attempts to save a sinking ship. I have seen likable clergy that could just about murder someone and still be loved but a prick within the company will be anihilated one way or another.

It’s office politics, it’s the same everywhere , in all companies, the church is no exception …

Most of their decisions are not in people’s best interests, hence why they have had so many law suits, if being excommunicated was a crime , as it stated in the blog , why have they not been sued for being excommunicated ..

2:28 you are most welcome, Karen. Hope I got it right. My Jewish friend had a seriously difficult upbringing even to the point of having to leave home & was alone & with help from social workers, they found her a bed sit, she finished her education and sent for her siblings to get them away from an abusive father & a mother too cowed and intimidated to do “anything”. She became incapable of protective herself never mind her kids, her husband was an incredulous manipulative bully indoors, outside he was charming, hardworking, back then no one knew was coercive control was. My friends & her siblings have excelled in their lives and in their jobs & eventually their mother found the strength to join them & enjoyed the last decade or so of her life. All these years later, I still marvel at the strength of this family with the most unpromising of starts. As for the Dad, as soon as mother “escaped”, she had to do that behind his back, he’d have killed her, he moved in another woman, a family friend, but he didn’t last long, he died & they had terrible trouble getting rid of his slutty squatter who believe it or not had a brother who was a Catholic priest! The things this new woman & her family did to hang onto the house are the makings of a book in itself. So unreasonably greedy and self entitled they were.

I suppose any group or institution has the right to make up its own rules of membership, and to exclude people, or in the case of the Church to excommunicate people whom they think have distanced themselves from the Church. But, are we bothered ?! Perhaps it is a sign of strength and integrity to be willing to be excommunicated from such a dysfunctional and corrupt institution and those self-serving and often criminal individuals who lead it ? So, I personally would not worry about being excommunicated by that load of reprobates, and probably am already because of decisions that I have made to distance myself from the Church. I find myself increasingly indifferent to the pronouncements of the Church and its clerical apparatchiks and content to make my own way in conscience through life. I am the kind of person who is a grave and present danger to the Church as it currently exists, because I live the Gospel but turn my back on the Church and the clergy. They don’t like that, because they know that as more and more of us do so, they lose control and influence, and their future is very doubtful.

For those of you living in the EU who have any outstanding issues involving RCC clergy: You have the right to access personal data about you that has been collected/stored by the Diocese and can do this by writing to the Diocese Data Protection Officer and/or the Parish where you live. In any other walk of life, if a person does not abide by protocols and policies and is not performing productively, they face scrutiny, accountability and are reprimanded in some way, put on notice and may even lose their job. Teachers, nurses, doctors and other professionals may be suspended without pay because of serious indiscretions. Yes, they have the processes of mediation open to them but serious contravening of workplace guidelines and terms of employment may warrant severe reprimand. No one in the real world of work can rewrite terms of employment or redefine terms of contract to suit him/herself. Isn’t there something very revealing about the tone of Pats defiance in dismissing concepts, rules and requirements simply because they are inconvenient? This surely is entitlement of the worst kind and allied to clericalism. As in any other walk of life where no one can alter work conditions, why do clerics of all hues still wrap layers of entitlements around their title, Father, Bishop, Archbishop, Monsignor, Administrator etc……DISMISSAL as a term is not a pleasant reality for al who may warrant it but no employee would ever dare to say it’s a meaningless word!! ..Likewise with Excommunication. Ah clarity at last from Billy. In other words you are saying The very condition of a deconstruction may be at work in the work, within the system to be deconstructed. It may already be located there, already at work. Not at the center, but in an eccentric center, in a corner whose eccentricity assures the solid concentration of the system, participating in the construction of what it, at the same time, threatens to deconstruct. One might then be inclined to reach this conclusion: deconstruction is not an operation that supervenes afterwards, from the outside, one fine day. It is always already at work in the work.

A recent Blog highlighted the RCC recruiting from Irish local authorities – De Valera recognised the economic prudence of forging allegiances with the wealthy RCC & allowed them to control Ireland with disastrous consequences for ordinary people. De Valera also famously ascribed to the notion of “keeping people poor to keep them down”. Poor people are obedient and more easily exploited see mother and baby homes etc. A cash cow for the RCC. The “politically correct” types attracted to the RCC show a unconcealed contempt for ordinary people. They have successfully infiltrated public institutions from where they can enforce their creed on everyone else. Most importantly, they can further get access to public monies. They have gained access to legislative powers of enforcement. Dissent is not tolerated, dissenters, not even children or disabled are persecuted. Free speech is not allowed, media are infiltrated by clerics and their laity to present propaganda instead of the truth. Human rights are corrupted. Attacks on women, children and vulnerable are covered up if not tolerated. The interests and opinions of ordinary people are ignored and their economic and personal rights plundered. The interests of the RCC take priority over the rights of the individual. Individuals are slandered and libelled to protect RCC interests. Greedy and deviant Church vampires lurk in dark places determined to hide away from the sunlight of public awareness. For them to succeed, it is important that their activities are not recognised until it is too late. So they crawl about various government, Charity and other public organisations feeding off the fruits of the blood sweat and tears of the ordinary people violating their spiritual, human and economic rights. So remember the next time you are left waiting months and years for public services, they are far too busy with their RCC commitments to bother making time to do the jobs they being paid public money to do & projects, contracts & applications that benefit their RCC cronies take precedence over that call for essential maintenance by a poor council house tenant.

They never get excommunicated and can do pretty much whatever they fancy, the ones who are, are not recipients of the scam’s favours and excommunication is to exert control.

@William Mullvihill 11:55, with all respect, and I do like your anecdotes, that’s like some daft old man who told me that Constantine (the Great) invented the Mass, some nonsense he probably got from some equally daft and probably dead Passionist. It is untrue. Constantine the Great was at least a semi-Arian baptised by Bp Eusebius of Nicomedia (the ordinary minister of baptism then was a bishop) and his successors of his own Flavian house were increasingly Arian, that Christ was begotten or brought about or created by God, altho Constantine was content to accept a Trinitarian formula, as he considered that just a detail and he just wanted One God and one peace for one empire. Ignoring the Trinity means that the Sacrifice on the Cross of every Mass was just the death of some notable man favoured by God, not God. Regardless ‘Sell your cloak and buy a sword’ as recorded by Luke are wise words for these times.

The automatic excommunication for abortion is utterly right. Abortion is used as emergency contraception for careless thots. Late term abortion is the bloody dismembering of a living baby. It’s the only HSE procedure that’s readily available for free. An increasing moral case can be made not to pay tax and operate cash in hand. The gents of the road might have it right.
Also excommunicating a whole bunch of the HSE seems okay to me. The standards of care have nosedived in the past few years, and they enjoyed that creepy COVID era worship of them. Is it so hard to clean things, not have piss on a supposedly un-used free bed? The religious sister matrons of old upheld standards. Cleaning is done by barely paid nurses aids. Nurses have degrees so too good to clean. Sometimes my mam or I just bring wipes. Nurses don’t clean, recently enough one of them played with their phones while alleged patient, one of uncles, was in agony, dying.
Recently I spoke to a man in Kimmage who is in agony over his hip and when he managed to avail of the cross border treatment scheme, he found he was treated like a king, welcomed by the doctors of this Belfast hospital (I cannot recall the name) and offered tea. However when he went back south, he could not get a healthcare nurse because someone availing of the cross border scheme is not a public patient. And as a hip implant patient he needed to have someone in his home, but he couldn’t afford a nurse. Finally in desperation he phoned this Belfast Hospital, so he’ll get respite care for the necessary weeks in a Co. Down nursing home before he goes back on the train.
If there’s a proper bishop left, he could excommunicate the HSE for being a low quality bottomless money pit. Surely that’s a sin? Reform it, outsource half it, as I don’t trust the current managers (who get taxis everywhere) to do anything competently. Not a cent more for it without radical change to it, that is, not the post Bertie stitch together of the Health Boards.

Anyhow as Pres Trump predicted Roe V Wade ceased, Abortion, that gruesome emergency contraception, will likely again be illegal here as either Pres Trump or DeSantis will suggest that perhaps the Irish based tax scams of big US corporations will end if official Ireland doesn’t do as it’s told and at least end publicly funded abortion. Why should responsible people pay for thots? This country’s economy is basically an MNC tax scam these days.

Yes, the so-called ‘pro-life’ stance is never true. I was reading about a woman in a US state which has recently banned abortion at great risk because of being forced to carry an inviable pregnancy to term. The predicted life span of the foetus is days at the most after birth and rather than just terminate the foetus the mother’s life is at risk.
Pro life my fucking arse.

The COVID lockdown has resulted in raging inflation from a mix of high spending and restricted economic activity. The logistics crisis followed from it. It is fitting that this mostly dead WEF project is only really enforced in the Vatican City (which is really is now just a big art gallery and museum and tax avoidance vehicle). I suppose much of its inhabitants are immuno-compromised, but enforcing the jab will not be of help. A ferocious number of older retired priests perished after it.

Anyhow, I’ve seen with my own eyes how rubbish HSE hospital are, with Tallaght Hospital one of the worst in Dublin (I mean there’s Naas (which still is substantially the workhouse it once was), but for Dublin, Tallaght Hospital / AMNCH is where to see an uncle barely looked after, soiled while a nurse played with a phone, and thank God he died at home with his people).

I’m not preaching. Anyone with a moral antenna is against abortion. Anyone who supports abortion is of no ‘predestinate soul’ as St Louis de Montfort terms the Christian. The worst is how it is about the only free and freely available medical procedure in this dump of a country, the killing of Irish babies while endless numbers come in and can expect a free home as of right while Irish men die on the street. There are 10,000 homeless while that well funded public holy man Fr Peter McVerry SJ (all these charity bosses are paid six figure salaries of senior civil servants, I’d be a dressed down holy man for that money) and Focus Ireland colonises Baltinglass with a mixture of hardened criminals and illegal Direct Provision immigrants.

I wonder if all those priests and bishops who have abused vulnerable children or done other inexpressibly wicked things to the weakest and poorest are excommunicated ? Somehow, I doubt not. The Church protects its own. However, some lay person who does something that the Church doesn’t like and deems to be worth of excommunication gets it full on. I see through it. Don’t you ?! I don’t think we listen anymore, and we are not bothered anymore. The Church is increasingly irrelevant. When are they going to realise ?

Here is a simple truth for all of us to remember
if I receive bread and wine in a state of mortal sin, it is not Communion with the Body and Blood of Christ. The host is not magic it is sign that requires the participation of the receiver to become what it is in God.
In the above scenario I have not “communicated” therefore i am excomunicated. The Churcg should remind us that “Excomunication” is not a dramatic act perforned by the Church but a self-inflicted result of sin and it is far more common than the open sacrileges of those who refuse to know better.

I suppose it’s all coincidental but when I heard of the tragedy in Multyfarnham over the weekend I remembered that the parish had been in the news before for excommunication or at least the refusal of communion. It was in the parish church that a TD was refused communion only a few years ago.

That TD’s brother is head of Carmelites and his uncle was head of Franciscan Friars in Ireland. It was a terrible thing to happen in the diocese of Meath and uncalled for. The current Taoiseach was reported as saying it was an unchristian thing to do to deprive the TD of communion at a funeral I think it was as opposed to Sunday mass.

Analysis: Why Amazon synod’s ‘Pachamama’ took a diphttps://www.catholicnewsagency.com › news › analysis-
Those who can excommunicate WIKIPAEDIA
Excommunication is either a jure (by law) or ab homine (by judicial act of man, i.e. by a judge). The first is provided by the law itself, which declares that whosoever shall have been guilty of a definite crime will incur the penalty of excommunication.
The second is inflicted by an ecclesiastical prelate, either when he issues a serious order under pain of excommunication or imposes this penalty by judicial sentence and after a trial.[11]
Excommunication is an act of ecclesiastical jurisdiction, the rules of which it follows. Hence the general principle: whoever has proper jurisdiction can excommunicate, but only his own subjects. Therefore, whether excommunications be a jure (by the law) or ab homine (under form of sentence or precept), they may come from the pope, from the bishop for his diocese; and from regular prelates for religious orders. But a parish priest cannot inflict this penalty. The subjects of these various authorities are those who come under their jurisdiction chiefly on account of domicile or quasi-domicile in their territory; then by reason of the offense committed while on such territory; and finally by reason of personal right, as in the case of regulars. As to excommunications ab homine, absolution from them is reserved by law to the ordinary who has imposed them.[11]

You’ve gotta laugh, don’t you?😅
Excommunication is the equivalent of sending a naughty child to bed without any supper, and is just as abusive.😕
It’s not restorative: at heart, it’s punitive, despite the official lines to the contrary. A form of coercion, if the excommunicant is bothered by that sort of superstition. Some undoubtedly are.
Starving a person of sacramental grace (which is what excommunication is supposedly about in the romanist church), is a means of dealing with moral and/or canonical waywardness. But it doesn’t instinctively sound Christian, does it? Even though, paradoxically, other Christian churches practise it for their own reasons?
In Romanism, it’s tantamount, being bluntly honest about it, to attempting spiritual murder of someone: depriving him of grace … of spiritual life itself … to make a point: letting him know what’s-what?, who’s -who?, and his rightful (lower) place in others’ grand sweep of things
You really do gotta laugh.😄
Don’t you, Jesus? 😕

Definition of excommunication
“The term used by the RCC to end conversation with a person using logic the RCC does not like, often because that other person may be right, or just too challenging for the RCC to respond to. Often disregarded by those it is directed at. Often mistaken by the laity as a historical punishment of the RCC. Can be used to increase the publicity of intelligent theologians, thought by many to to irrelevant in the eyes of God”.

Exactly. And only 5% of priests achieve perfect perpetual continence (presumably who have a naturally low sex drive) so even if the priest isn’t in sexual contact with others he’ll have been masturbating.

There are gradations to excommunication…it is a mindset among them. When E. Martin was administering Derry Diocese, he was given to telephoning priests and saying ” I have your file open in front of me.” ” I think I’ll get an assessment done on you” was a step up in his ways of intimidation. He will rue those words for as long as he lives. An intimidating bully who is a total failure as a bishop….useless.

Menaces of compulsory mental health treatment (itself a form of abuse) has long been the go to of the worst bullies and the worst bullies are often bishops, so the usual. As this blog suggests irritating ++Martin is the worst offence, moral turpitude, provided it doesn’t become too public, is a lesser offence.

a) Ryan McAleer being bullied by a senior member of Armagh is backed up by information which came to my attention from a legal professional.
b) Ryan McAleer’s insistence that Fr Eugene Sweeney accompany him to meet Eamon Martin is abaolutely true, according to what has also been passed on to me by someone close to the Archbishop.
This can all be proven. However I would issue a health warning at this point. You should be aware that the reason Archbishop Martin wished to speak to Ryan McAleer concerned a very grave matter indeed. And I am also more than certain that in your fine intellect you are aware that “adultery” in canon law, applies only to activity between a man and woman.
