THEY DESTROYED OUR HUMAN SPONTANEITY FROM BEFORE WE WERE BORN 😞

I grew up with a very negative sense of self which lasted for nearly 40 years until I engaged in serious psychotherapy and spiritual awakening.

That negative sense of self came firstly from my immediate and distant ancestors who had themselves being indoctrinated in the very crooked and dysfunctional form of Christianity that we call Roman Catholism.

In fairness, most other churches were as bad.

We were led to believe that:

The BODY was the bad part of us – and

The SOUL was the good part of us.

We were brainwashed into believing that our genitalia were dangerous to our spiritual wellbeing and nearly always a source of sin.

We were told that virginity and celibacy were the greatest of virtues and that marriage, which would not exist in heaven, was nothing more than a guard against “concupience” and a “necessary evil” for providing the World and the Church with new members.

Masturbation, which every normal human being engages in, was a mortal sin.

I was told more than once in the Confessional that every time I masturbated I destroyed 300,000 possible souls.

For the Church of that time and before, the whole human being was in the sperms and the woman merely provided the oven the bread was made in.

As a teenager I knew the very dark corners of every Confessional in the 1960s Dublin.

Years later, a priest I was counselling said to me:

“They wouldn’t let us get rid of our semen and it went to our heads and made us fucking mad”.

The priest was right.

So we were all the victims of Western Christianity and Roman Catholicism.

If you were lucky it turned you into a neurotic.

If unlucky it turned you into a psychotic.

How many thousands of Irish people ended up in mental hospitals, not suffering from a mental illness, but suffering from Christian-itis or Catholic-itis, we will never know.

The famous Irish author Tim Pat Coogan once pointed out that Ireland had been colonised by two forces – the British, politically and the Romanists religiously and morally.

In 1922 we got rid of the Brits from most of our island.

In 2022, a hundred years later, we are well on the way to getting rid of our Roman colonisers.

And it can’t happen a day too soon.

PHILIP LARKIN ABRIDGED

They fuck you up, your priests and nuns.

They mean to, and they do.

They fill you with the guilts they had

And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn

By fools in old-style veils and black.

Who half the time were soppy-stern

And half at one another’s throats.

Religion hands on misery to man.

It deepens like a coastal shelf.

Get out as early as you can,

And don’t spawn any clerks yourself.

Try telling Robert Nugent that masturbation is a natural human act of pleasure.
That man is obsessed with young men masturbating but yet refrains from having an opinion on ladies that also engage in this.
Robert Nugent has more questions to answer than he does to ask.

I think Queen Victoria refused to believe that ladies flicked the bean and she also refused to countenance that lesbianism existed.

You are reminded that the remit of Bishop Pat Buckley’s blog is to expose the 2 faced hypocrisy of clergy & their cohorts in Roman Catholic Church, private citizens are exactly that and Roman Catholic Church is falsely hiking it’s perceived numbers by creating a false impression by making public statements claiming to be “speaking for whole communities” etc. Lies, lies and more lies and fake narrative from clergy & pals for own self interested agendas

I only recently learnt that DeV allowed the Catholic hold on Ireland and the misconceptions of sexuality because he was ashamed of being born out of wedlock. We live in the shadow of that guilt. Thousands suffered because of it.

11.42 There is a story passed down in our family that my husband’s great grandfather, George Ievers, paid for some of De Valera’s education: George rented a house in Kilkee, west Clare, where he apparently employed Catherine Coll (1858-1932), mother of Eamon de Valera, as the cook. This was presumably before she emigrated to New York in 1879 although she is said to have returned to Ireland on occasion. Norman Ievers senior believed that de Valera was a beneficiary of some of George Ievers money which paid for Eamon’s education in Ireland. There is also room for gentle chin-rubbing and eyebrow wiggling over the fact that Eamon de Valera’s first birth certificate record held by New York State named him as ‘George De Valero.’ (Turtle Bunbury).

Yes, and to help other people avoid the confusion he suffered he enforced a moral code on the entirety of society to oppress and suppress, and to hide from society many innocents who became personal symbols of descent against that code – in line with the thinking of modernity but about 100 years after modernity, hence why Irish society was so late developing and so oppressed psychologically.

This is what we mean when we say the actual church itself is abusive.
This is why the whole hierarchy covered up CSA: abuse of all sorts is the point, not an accident.

Like

Pat, you’re repeating issues…the poem you’ve used several times….All of us who are Catholic are in many ways spiritually and psychologically damaged by a certain moral indoctrination from the past. Not all of us. Some of the most honourable, decent, kind, balanced and genuinely good men and women I’ve met in 45 years as a priest are those who sought to live the teachings of the church and the gospel of Christ. Wonderful people from past generations. In a free world where religion and faith are sidelined and where secularism is the new “ism”, we have cast aside practically all religious values. Despite the negative aspects of some moral teachings I still look to the ideals of my Christian faith as a mark by which to live as a person of God, with Christ as the exemplar for living a truly good and “divine” life. Difficult, certainly. Today’s young children and youth have no such grounding. Their expectations of life, values, heroes and heroines are taken from their iPads, laptops, glossy magazines and pop idols. When we criticise the Catholic Church as you do, we often forget its core values and message and the much good it carried out and still does. Yes, we have reason to be critical of a moral teaching which crucified our conscience and spirit. But I still retain the core moral principles and ideals frim my taught faith. I don’t accept your theory of hereditary guilt…You and I and our generation have well cast aside “unnecessary guilt” many years ago.

The problem with the RC church is that it has replaced Christ with a hierarchy of men and their doctrines and dogmas. Of all the main Christian churches on earth, it would be hard to find one so removed from Jesus and his teaching as the RCC

I was baptised a Catholic, raised a Catholic and spent seven years in a Catholic seminary and then I grew up and became a man and realised it’s possible to be a Christian and not be a member of a church which reeks of the stench of corruption and hypocrisy.

It would be ridiculous to assume all person in one walk of life are bad, or good, as with the laity it takes all sorts, which we accept, with priests because many of us were brought up to give deference to the Roman Catholic church and its priest unconditionally, it can be a shock when you realise the buggers (forgive the pun) are no better or worse than ourselves.
Of course, trust has been blown to smithereens, once lost it takes immense time and effort to regain it, if ever.

My wife, who is much more religious than me, is passing on her Catholic guilt to our 12-year-old son, with her talk about going to confession, which she was delighted that he started to have to go at the age of 7, as it is a great way to use guilt to control childish misbehaviour. The age of 7 is much too low for sending people to confession. Future generations will think it barbarous that we did so.
Am I right in thinking that children used to have first confession at a later age, but Pius X lowered it as part of his drive for frequent Communion and receiving Communion at a younger age?
Even at Masses where children leave during the readings and homily, they still have to sit through the penitential rite before being sent on their way.

Maybe because Francis’s Vatican sex abuse investigator, Charles Scicluna who was/is a Roman Catholic Archbishop in Malta is rooting them out, it would look rather suspicious if he is exposing sexually abusive clergy in other countries and he did not do the same in Malta,
It was Scicluna who went to Chile to establish prolific sex abuse amongst the Roman Catholic high ranking clergy, after doubting Francis refused to believe it. The serial Chilean serial sex abuser Father Karadima affair, which also involved Bishop Barros, who only, happened to be one Karadima’s protégé, four other Chilean Bishops implicated, all in the cesspit together, one covering for the other. Three of his sex abused victims Juan Carlos Cruz, James Hamilton and Jose Andres Murillo, were immensely influential in having Karadima laicized, he has died since.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I think it’s all our responsibility to help those less fortunate than ourselves, one excellent way is to give a little, to the food bank baskets. It feels like real charity, you give it, you forget it, no accolades, no clap on the back for your generosity. Imagine if every person who shops, gave one item of food into the food bank basket, once a week, we, would be giving it not only to those in need in our own countries, we would be exporting it. Pat, It would be interesting to research, how many of us have had a discussion about masturbation with our parents, and compare how many parents today discuss this sensitive topic with their children.
(I can’t even begin to contemplate having this discussion with my own Mother.)
I feel it’s still a taboo subject, as long as it remains hidden, it will have all sorts of connotations associated with it, because it’s pleasurable and involved genital stimulation, the idea in the religious world will continue to be, it’s bad, sinful, and should be avoided. Even small children masturbate.
There is the myth that masturbation will prevent rape by men, untrue.

It appears the psychological benefits from pleasuring oneself are many according to a small study, however there is a downside too.

It is normal for Dioceses to have funds some have millions in property like shops, offices, Licensed, homes and land.
So this is a simple application to allow the land to be developed and add Enterprise to it so maybe Killaloe has someone who wants to build offices or a factory.
It give the Dioceses of Killaloe better value for property and sites.
My diocese has 24 Million invested in Shops, Offices, Car Park, Leisure and land and that is outwith parochial buildings and centre.
Very clever thinking in whoever is advising Fintan and thee Diocesan Trustees.

Dioceses has two incomes the regular weekly / monthly and also the investments in shares and property.
