The Vatican acknowledged Thursday that it imposed restrictions in 2020 on the ministry and residency of Bishop Carlos Ximenes Belo, a Nobel Peace Prize winner who is accused of sexually abusing teenage boys decades ago.
But Vatican officials will almost certainly face more questions about those restrictions, and about the bishop’s past, as details of the allegations against Belo come into focus in the weeks to come.
The Vatican’s admission came after a Dutch magazine reported this week the serial abuse allegations against the bishop, who has been regarded as a hero of the fight for independence in his native country of East Timor.
The allegations are grave. The bishop is accused of raping young men in the 1980s and ‘90s, and of taking advantage of their poverty, and his power, to keep them silent.
PAT SAYS
The Vatican disciplined Bishop Belo over two years ago but kept the matter silent.
They would never have made the matter public if the victims and journalists had not spoken out.
This sends a number of very clear messages:
1. The RCC is still covering up abuse everywhere and everytime they can.
2. Pope Francis, like many popes before him, even and especially those SAINTED were and are abuse cover up merchants.
3. NEVER REPORT ABUSE to a bishop, a priest or a church paid safeguarding officer.
4. ALWAYS report abuse directly to the police and social services.
5. Always get a good lawyer – one with no church connections.
6. Always consider talking to a good journalist with an investigative journalism track record.

Pat, Your advice is bang-on. Never ever should a person sexually abuse got to the Roman Catholic church first to report their abuse ALWAYS, the police first, make sure there is no familial, or other close relationship between the church and police/Garda. The same applies when finding a solicitor.
The likely outcome if the Roman Catholic Hierarchy is involved, is they will endeavour to pay you off, with the proviso of an NDA.
Never ever sign a non disclosure agreement/form (NDA) under those circumstances, make absolutely sure you know what you are signing and why.
The Timor – Leste situation is not only similar to U.S former Roman Catholic Cardinal McCarrick’s sexual abusing.
It is not dissimilar to American ex-Roman Catholic priest Richard Daschbach in Timor-Leste, who opened the Topu Honis orphanage/refuge for poverty stricken young girls he then went on to sexually abuse them, he had a calendrer on his bedroom, of the young girls he wanted and raped, the sexual pervert prayed with the children of the orphanage every night before, he preyed on his chosen one to sexually violatefor that night
They were told “Don’t be disrespectful, if you don’t sleep with him he will be upset.”
Here we have a a Roman Catholic priest and, Belo a Roman Catholic Bishop, sexually abusing some of the most desperately poor children In Timor, both so sure of their position and power openly sexually abused those they should have been caring for.
Sadly for the Timorese, there homeland has been described as, in one of the most Roman Catholic countries outside the Vatican.

Unsurprisingly, under Bergoglio, the Bishop Belo case is another McCarrick/Zanchetta/Barros/Inzoli situation, where abuse is covered up and the abusers are looked after. Zero tolerance only applies to critics of Bergoglio, only to ‘rigorists,’ never to the ‘trusted friends’ and ‘allies’.

One thing for sure, they are covering up for sexual deviant criminals, which makes them complicit in the sexual abuse of children mostly Roman Catholic children. Not only are Roman Catholic sexual abuser clerics sexually, physically, psychologically damaging them, the spiritual damage in many cases, is irredeemable.

Did that woman specify or stipulated in WRITING that her lands not to be sold. If its verbal but not in writing l, then any Bishop can twist her words and sell the lands to suit him or his diocese.

Whereas the Vatican or the bishops all over the world wants to keep it(aka abuses) hidden and get the money flowing in from the parishioners all over the world.
If on the other hand, expose Vatican or the bishops out in the open and stop some monies flowing in from parishioners from all over the world.
