FROM ME TO ARNIE
16.10.22. 6.13 pm
Fr Arnold Rosney PP VF Shannon
Dear Arnie,
I have been contacted by several of your parishioners.
Is it true that you had an affair with a woman who is now reconciled with her husband and moved to Dubai?
Is it true that you are now involved with a new woman?
Is Fintan aware of all this?
+ Pat Buckley
FROM ME TO FINTAN
18.10.22. 12:18 pm
Dear Fintan,
I have received representations from the parish of Shannon informing me that Fr Arnold Rosney:
1. Had a relationship with a married woman that led to the breakdown of her marriage.
Apparently that woman is now reconciled with her husband and they now reside in Dubai.
2. That Fr Rosney is now in a second relationship with another woman.
These matters suggest a pattern in Killaloe – a pattern that you tolerate and preside over.
Maybe more time at your desk and less time running around making amateur movies?
+ Pat
FROM ME TO ARNIE

Arnie,
I intend to blog about your situation.
I am giving you the opportunity to deny or comment
+ Pat Buckley
FROM ARNIE AND FINTAN

PAT SAYS
If anyone wrote to me asking me if I had done something wrong I would not ignore the letter / email.
After all. This is someone giving me the opportunity to DENY the assertions.
If what they were asking was untrue I would deny the assertions vigorously and threaten legal action
I would not be threatening legal action simply as a ruse. I would mean it.
I personally have taken a number of legal actions down the years – and I have succeeded in each – once in court and twice by way of an apology and damages.
Of course, TRUTH, is the PERFECT DEFENCE to libel.
I really wish Fintan would clarify these matters, especially for the sake of the Catholic laity of Killaloe.

Generally speaking if it gets to court we know why.
If faught in court it concerns the ability to challenge evidence…. evidence which crown prosecution believes to be sufficient to justify the expense of a trial.
Has Amy restricted Aidan from carrying a smart phone? It would seem a legitimate sanction in the situation.

Just a point of information. In Northern Ireland, it is the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) that decides whether or not to pursue cases in court.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) operates only in England and Wales.

The case was probably just adjourned. Most of the day in magistrate’s courts is taken up with adjourning cases, for a variety of reasons. Most of the cases that are heard on the day are simple motoring offences or bail breaches.
These courts usually only have 1-2 contests a day (ie cases where the prosecution and defence argue out the case in front of the district judge in the sort of exchanges you see in court room dramas on the telly). Aidan will probably be back in court in six weeks’ time.
LikeLike
@10.06, Thank you, I live and I learn.
@11.08, it is like that in the Republic too. Hence why it is significant that the prosecutor was willing to take the case all the way to a chock-a-block Court schedule. The evidence must be compelling.
LikeLike
You’re right, HG. Cases usually only end up in the magistrate’s court where the person is bang to rights eg no car insurance, speeding. Where the evidence is shaky or likely to be contested (eg assault, theft) the public prosecutors will usually only take it to court if there is strong evidence, to keep costs down and the wheels of justice turning. The conviction rate in the magistrate’s court is high, mainly because prosecutors only bring cases that are strong from the prosecution point of view.
I worked in Newtownards Court, where a district judge (the newish fancy title for the RMs of old) would dispose of 70-80 cases a day, spending only a couple of minutes on each, and then they did an hour or two on the contests. The system is badly clogged up with adjournments. It is very frustrating for everyone involved and hard on witnesses who psych themselves up only to be told to come back on another date.

There are many no win no fee operating solicitors in Ireland, have a look at one.
The concept of ‘no win no fee’ also known as no foal no fee is common practice amongst solicitors in Ireland. This fee arrangement means that a solicitor will not charge for their service if a client’s case is unsuccessful β if you do not win your case, you do not have to pay your legal fees.

Still they want the laity to continue paying or ‘donate’ into weekly Sunday cash collections allied with random cash appeals to the public at odd times such as trocaire. That bishop of killaloe is a chairman for trocaire.
Quite frankly, rcc is seen as business institution with bishops acting as diocesean business managers for the Vatican itself.(aka’ branch office managers’). Rcc is a charity with tax free exemption status.

When Fr Ryan left, Arnie was given a warning and broke off the affair leaving the woman emotionally βdevastatedβ. Now the priest is at it again. Wake up Fintan.

How sad I am to read of yet another Killaloe Priest today but yet again this brings up the subject of celibacy to our fore. Nothing or no one prepares you for the loneliness of priesthood and some men fall down in the presence of a pretty woman or a handsome man, whichever takes your fancy. Unfortunately, relations outside your clerical promises come at a cost, the main bring the scandal brought to your Bishop, diocese and parish and Killaloe has plenty of scandal on this blog which I dare say is a worry to His Grace in Westbourne.
Can I ask, what ever happened to having discretion? I have never wronged a priest for falling in love or having a lapse of a promise but after the priest must discern their life and choose accordingly. You cannot have your cake and eat it which this Fr Rosney thinks he can do. If you donβt want to be a priest and keep your promises leave, if you do stay, discern and speak openly to your Bishop. Do not end up with us discussing your sexlife on this blog.

Arnie is a spokesperson for the Diocese on social media and a priest with notions and sexual urges itβs seems. The hypocrisy of it all is shocking and is very unnerving indeed.

Father Arnie is saying this is a witch hunt against him and not one bit of it is True and he will just ignore it.
Bishop Fintanβs hands will be tied again just like with Jerry and Ger unless the women come forward.
Maybe if Arnie dumps her she will go to Bishop Fintan.
The feeling in Killaloe is Pat Buckley has a blog to fill with his agenda and to ignore it however Killaloe clergy are watching again and the weak Leadership of Fintan
Novena starts next weekend in Shannon then Killaloe Clergy are on three days in house traning.

6.37 A witch hunt NOT. The woman in Dubai is contactable but why would she want to come forward after starting a new life?

6.37 Of course Arnie will deny it. Just like fellow Killaloe priest Ger Fitzgerald denied his affair when confronted about it in Cloughleigh. Mark my words, the bad boys in Killaloe will keep getting busted.

6.37 typical catlick response, well able to turn on the waterworks & play victim to stay on the Bishops payroll. What about all these poor women heβs been making a fool of. Having his cake & eating it just like Fr Carey & Fr Fitz.

6.37 Fr Arnie Rosney qualified as a Canon lawyer at the Gregorian University in Rome plus also has a Masters degree in law from University of Limerick. Surely he is highly employable & can now head off to make his own life & have a family of his own. The truth will release him now.

Now that you have turned your sights on Killaloe diocese hope you will keep going to the east of the diocese and Roscrea parish. The curious case of the mia Co-pps Michael Harding and Pat Treacey and the new pp John Molloy. If you think what is happening in Shannon is troubling it is nothing on Roscrea.

Celibacy as an obligation is not working. How much more effective and happy all would be if those who choose celibacy were encouraged to live it and those priests who need intimacy with a man or woman could. God willing, may God hasten the day.,

No. Celibacy as a requirement for orders is a relatively recent phenomenon which arguably never worked and is clearly not working now. The proof of such a claim is the number of those with a call to ministerial service who donβt have a call to celibacy.

So this is where those without sin hang out, those who are entitled to cast the first stone. I have had the pleasure of knowing Fr Arnie for many years. I have encountered him in some difficult and challenging situations in my life. I have always found him to be supportive, caring and helpful. Going beyond what was required of his priestly ministry. We should be praying for and supporting all our priests. Not condemning or judging them. We will all have to face the judgment seat some day.
