SACKED VATICAN AUDITOR TO SUE VATICAN.

https://www.ncronline.org/vatican/vatican-news/ex-vatican-auditor-threatening-reveal-all-sues-church-alleging-damage-his

Former Vatican financial auditor Libero Milone filed charges on Nov. 4 against the Vatican Secretariat of State, demanding the Catholic Church pay for damages to his reputation that he alleges followed his unceremonious firing in 2017.

At a meeting on Nov. 8 arranged by his lawyer, Milone told reporters that Cardinal Angelo Becciu, once the third-highest-ranking official at the Vatican, was “the mastermind of the so-called operation eject-Milone.”

Milone was hired in 2015 by Pope Francis to look into the notoriously convoluted and troubled finances of Vatican departments as part of continuing financial reforms begun by Pope Benedict XVI. Only two years later, the Vatican announced that Milone had resigned in the face of accusations of embezzlement and of spying.

As Milone was ushered out, Becciu told reporters that the auditor “went against all rules and was spying on the private lives of his superiors and staff, myself included.” Milone shot back, calling the cardinal “a liar.”

According to Milone, Vatican prosecutors have now relaunched an investigation into his tenure as auditor, along with his deputy. Milone has been called for questioning at the Vatican on Nov. 7.

The Vatican did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

On Nov. 8, the former auditor framed his firing as a battle between “the Middle Ages and modernity” and called out “the small mafia at the Vatican” that was offended by his findings of lapses in the Catholic institution’s finances, including “many cases of rule violations, improper predisposition of accounting records, incorrect registrations.”

Milone said he is ready to share proof of the financial mismanagement he said he witnessed at Vatican-owned hospitals and in the church bureaucracy. He and his deputy, Ferruccio Panicco, are asking the Secretariat to pay nearly 10 million euros for reputational and mental damages.

It’s remarkable that the holy priests don’t reveal what’s going on behind the scenes. Strange, with their much vaunted moral compass you would think they’d be the first.

@1022pm. They seriously don’t care where the money comes from and they’ll destroy anyone perceived as a threat whilst presenting themselves as holier than thou.

I say ‘well done him’ ! Sue the arse off them. Beccui and company are crooks. Of course they fire and maligned him. Because he knew what they were up to. Whom do you think any fair minded jury is going to believe ? Beccui et al or an independent fair minded professional auditor. Go figure ! He will win. Or they will settle. More like the latter because the z Vatican knows it’s crooked.

The behaviour of Church members repeatedly highlights that they are self entitled control freaks with zero respect for dignity or privacy rights. They behave as if they “own” people when many of them could hardly be trusted to own a canine or feline.

His deputy Ferrucio Panicco is also suing the Vatican for reputational and mental damages. Their joint claim is in the region of €10 Million euros.

11:36 the Vatican & the RCC in general worldwide doesn’t care who it destroys, kids lives, the reputations of educated professionals such as these two Vatican auditors. Of course, the Vatican did not reply to several letters sent. The “usual” modus operandi by the HQ.

How many entitled, unaccountable, little Hitler clergy bully and get rid of parish secretaries, treasurers, parish council members who know a bit too much about what Father is getting up to and how he is spending the parish money ? Happens all the time in a parish near you, leaving the priest as a power craved omnipotent little shit who controls everything. Including the money. And no questions asked.

8:40 they have two choices, they are either in on it or covering up for it and defending it. That would explain the actions of some support staff and volunteers.

9:32 don’t feel sorry for them, they chose the RCC because they know it’s the safest place in the world from which to execute whatever level of negative behaviour or criminality floats their boat & the backup teams spring into action when any threat is perceived hence the appalling treatment this Vatican auditor and his deputy have been subjected to informing their decision to issue proceedings.

11.18: Pat’s Oratory Church mightn’t be doing too much but – while I often vehemently disagree with his approach and style – we cannot but acknowledge the invaluable service he provides in uncovering the abuses, corruption, moral malaise, clericalism and hypicrisy of the institutional Catholic church. We need this probing, truth and accountability, thus the need for a forum like this blog.

The first auditor general of the Vatican and his deputy are suing the Secretariat of State for $9.25 million in damages.
Libero Milone and Ferruccio Panicco are seeking compensation for loss of earnings, damage to their reputations, and emotional suffering.
Milone and Panicco told reporters this week they also would submit records documenting financial crimes by senior Vatican officials, including embezzlement of funds.
Before coming to the Vatican, Milone had been chairman and CEO of Italy’s Deloitte global accounting firm. He had also worked for the United Nations. He was appointed auditor general at the Vatican in 2015 and told to resign two years later.
Three months after suddenly stepping down in the middle of his five-year mandate, Milone said he was “threatened” into resignation by an “old guard” opposed to his work.
The Vatican responded with “surprise and regret” at this allegation, and Pope Francis used his 2017 Christmas address to criticize people who “betray the trust put in them” and “wrongly declare themselves martyrs of the system, of a ‘Pope kept in the dark,’ of the ‘old guard.’”
The man said to be responsible for the firing of Milone, Cardinal Angelo Becciu, told Reuters in 2017 that Milone “went against all the rules and was spying on the private lives of his superiors and staff, including me.”
Becciu is currently on trial for alleged financial crimes and was forced to step down in 2020 by Pope Francis. He maintains his innocence.
In May of this year, he pointed to Pope Francis regarding the question of removing Milone. In a court interrogation that lasted almost eight hours, Becciu told a prosecutor the pope had called him to a meeting in June 2017, where the pope claimed that he no longer had trust in Milone and therefore wanted Becciu to contact the auditor and tell him he must resign.
According to Becciu, the pope also expressed regret for entrusting him with “these thankless tasks.”
Milone in turn is the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Vatican. Spokesman Matteo Bruni confirmed to the New York Times that the Vatican’s prosecutor had an open file on Milone for embezzlement, “after a confidentiality seal was removed from the case.”
Milone’s former deputy, Ferruccio Panicco, accuses the Vatican of withholding medical records, allegedly thereby reducing his ability to seek treatment for prostate cancer.

Corruption is everywhere in the UK with dodgy Covid deals and parliamentary expenses, even the sainted Ukraine where Oligarchs give their equivalents in Russia a run for their money, and America with dodgy Hunter Biden. So no surprise that it’s in the Vatican too.

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Former Vatican auditors say they have evidence of widespread financial corruption – and a new lawsuit will surface it.

Two former Vatican officials say their newly filed lawsuit will prove widespread financial corruption among both Vatican Roman Catholic cardinals and the Roman Catholic leadership of the Vatican’s national police force.
The former Vatican staffers say they were appointed by Pope Francis to get Vatican finances in order, and were fired when they discovered corruption, and saw Roman Catholic Cardinal Angelo Becciu falsely accuse them of spying.
Libero Milone, the first person to hold the position of Vatican auditor general, filed suit Nov. 4 against the Vatican’s Roman Catholic Secretariat of State, claiming he was unjustly fired and unfairly threatened with criminal prosecution, because of discoveries he made while doing his job.
The Vatican’s ousted auditor was forced from his post in 2017 under threat of prosecution for spying and misappropriation of funds, although there were three years left on his contract.
Milone and a former deputy are suing for more than 9 million euros in compensation for loss of earnings, damage to their reputations, and emotional suffering

We must pray for our priests. It is not their fault that they behave so terribly; it is OUR fault for not praying and fasting and self-flagallating for them.

They are being sifted like wheat by Datan. He tempts them beyond their strength, because we are too lazy to help them! Our lack of charity is their crucifixion!

We, the laity, are the weak link. We, the laity, have abandoned our priests, bishops and cardinals. PITY THEM! They are struggling in all sorts of ways because of our selfishness. Do we give them enough prayer? NO!

Do we give them enough money? NO!

Do we make allowance for them when they fall? NO!

God will judge us HARSHLY for abandoning his sacerdotal souls.

4.25: I was going to express similar comment earlier but I’m asking the same question. Why such a low number of comments? Could it be that the cohort of this blog are tired repeating the same reaction to abuse scandals? Or perhaps we may be immune to being shocked? Some of the good past commenters are no longer commenting. Each day two or three people make frequent comments, thus making the actual reality of commenters a smaller group. Or it may be that we are tired of Pat’s spin on all crises when he allows the blig on serious matters go all over the place. For example, when the issues of The Spiritan Colleges abuses were being discussed, some resorted to a queenie “bitchfest” with nothing to do with The serious issue of ABUSE and then we have Seamus the 8th or 9th or whatever, obsessing about Bishop Deenihan almost every day, boringly. We get his message. Pat, I believe on very serious moral issues you ought to be very discerning about some commenters. There are some too who quote long reams from encyclopaedias …and whose comments are way too long.

As a few have noted, the seizing and stubborn holding of the medical records of Ferruccio Panicco, who is plaintiff alongside Milone, was notably wicked. It meant repeating tests and delayed treatment beyond a point where his prostate cancer could effectively curtailed. Basically he believes, quite reasonably, that the Vatican sentenced him to death. Sec of State Parolin refused to release the records, a decision he hardly made on his own. Milone sees a corrupt police officer, Giani, as the most proximate cause or pretext for his department, having accused Milone of bugging.

A nest of vipers would be a friendlier, more noble place than the Vatican. The term refers to people of villainous intent, so therefore apt.
