New allegations of child sexual abuse by priests at Blackrock College have emerged in recent days, prompted by a radio documentary that told in detail of two brothers who were sexually abused by priests at the school in the 1970s, unbeknown to each other.
At least 233 men have made allegations of abuse against 77 Irish priests from the Spiritans, some of whom were serial abusers left with unchecked access to children in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The following are four of the priests against whom allegations were made:

PAT SAYS
All of this abuse was disgusting and cries to Heaven for punishment.
And the horror of abuse was compounded by the horror of all the cover up that went with it.
The state and the tax payer should not have to pay one cent of the compensation.
The religious orders should pay ALL the compensation.
127 replies on “RELIGIOUS ORDERS SHOULD PAY THEIR OWN ABUSE COMPENSATION BILL”
The Irish Government allows the RCC to run riot financially. Charitable status and all the grants they receive should be withheld at least until church has satisfactorily met their redress obligations. Many victims have already died awaiting redress. This is totally unacceptable.

The Spirit and and Jesuits against whom many accusations are made about teaching clerics must now pay out all compensation as a principle of justice. The provincial teams in both Orders now must act with speed, justice, honesty and accountability towards victims/survivors. They need utimately to do this for survivors, then for the school in which many good priests and teachers served and they need to do it for all sufferers of any abuse. The Orders seem committed to doing that and I hope they will continue to do so. When at boarding school for four years, not one bit of this kind of behaviour was witnessed. I feel lucky but my heart is with the grown men who were horribly used, abused, hurt and shamed in emotional pain as chuldren and young people. I hope they can find the space to get through these days. The Spiritans must pay all compensation and more. Wait till the African flood gates open with their experience of ABUSE by these coordinating predators.

12:06 it’s all a massive underground network of sexual and financial abuse. No wonder they gone so rich and powerful, they are untouchable and appear to literally get away with murder whilst victims left to rot in septic tanks being one example. Hoping these victims of Blackrock abuse receive appropriate support and compensation after all this time.

That is the reason I always state their original name, the Holy Ghost Fathers aka The Spiritans, it is a very smart move to change the name of the religious order, many may not associate the Spiritan title with the old one.
Many, I bet in Spiritan schools under it’s original name were sexually abused, we all know the method religious order’s have with problem priests, ship them to other parishes, other countries, other continents, there is no doubt in my mind many sex abuser priests were/are sent abroad to continue their filthy perverted ways, with no redress.

The RCC should be required to make full and complete compensation at levels determined by judicial processes.

They had 60years to deal with it, there are endless avenues of media through which they could have sought out their victims, but the truth is that they didn’t do one thing about it, only pay out ‘shut – up’ money, as many of their victims slept on the streets literally, outside their door, having been unable to come to terms with what had been done to them.

I know! It’s hard to break the habit, if you don’t acknowledge, everyone else will, and point it out to you over and over and over again, as long as the Roman Catholic clergy malfeasance is dug up, around the world.
Just you wait until the Roman Catholic clergy sex abuse in Asia, Africa, India where it has begun to break through, and, more from of Latin American, this sexual violence inflicted on children has only being barely skimmed, make sure you mete out blame where it’s deserved, continue to hang your head in shame, as well you must, to be associated with such a corrupt organisation.

The Church’s Implosion: It’s Gonna Get Worse Before It Gets Better
VATICAN CITY (VATICAN CITY)
La Croix International [France]
By Robert Mickens.
“The sex abuse scandal involving bishops in France is just the latest episode in a serial horror show that has actually only just begun. What must Catholics do to not lose faith?
The phenomenon of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy, like a dreaded disease that becomes the proverbial “gift that keeps on giving”, has now intensified in France with the recent revelations that a cardinal and nine or ten other bishops are currently under investigation by state or Church authorities for abuse or its cover-up.”

If a religious order, or diocese, or any other body is found to be vicariously culpable and liable for abuse by their member or in their institutions, then there is no doubt that they should be held liable, including for compensation. The antics of these bodies to do everything in their power to avoid concrete recompense is creative and legendary, and flies in the face of every gospel value about justice. Which, of course, they preach about everything and everybody else. The obstacle to seeking concrete compensation, as opposed to mealy mouthed words of apology, is access to the right and proper legal help, and that costs money. Victims, by and large do not have the kind of money required for that. So, a first step would be for some creative funding to facilitate some class actions, Not sure by whom, or how, but without the funding it is not going to happen. Maybe the government could underwrite such action, and if it is successful could recoup some of its outlay ? Money and funding is, realistically, the key.

In our case, there was state oversight on institutional schools which they left it to the religious orders. Even we had ad hoc inspections coming from dept of education and old health boards.
The problem was the state trusted religious orders so much as their word was truth. Parents including my parents as well believed rcc were holy and couldn’t tell lies et al.
