TIME TO TOTALLY SEPERATE THE IRISH STATE AND THE IRISH ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.

The time is long past when the Irish State and the RCC be totally disconnected.

Because of the damage the RCC did in Ireland for decades the Irish Government should withdraw its ambassador to the Vatican and not accept a new papal nuncio in Ireland.

Ireland should deal with the Vatican, if at all, through the Irish ambassador to Italy.

The Vatican, through its world wide abuse and corruption, has proven that it is a ROGUE STATELET.

Modern democracies, such as Ireland, should not have relationships with rogue states.

There was a time when Ireland banned the IRA.

In the last “Troubles” the IRA were responsible for some 1700 deaths and injured some thousands of others.

But how many people has the RCC killed, injured and abused, even in the last 1,000 years?

There were circa 800 babies in Tuam alone.

OTHER FIGURES

FRANCE

Bishops and priests abused 216,000 minors between 1950 and 2020

AUSTRALIA

4,444 abuses reported to dioceses.

GERMANY

1,670 bishops and priests abused 3,677 victims.

USA

11,000 victims made complaints.

IRELAND

15,000 complaints between 1970 and 1990.

That’s nearly A QUARTER OF A MILLION victims from just 5 countries.

The Irish RCC should be regarded as a criminal organisation by the Irish State.

No officer of state should formally attend any RCC events.

The Irist State should introduce new legislation holding the RCC solely responsible for all abuse in its institutions.

They should also introduce new legislation allowing the state to seize all RCC assets to pay the abuse bills.

I agree Pat. The state has moved on from the RCC and has lost all faith in it. Look at the referendum on abortion and gay marriage as proof of this.

So to prove why we should sever ties with the Church on account of abuse, you take the example of how people voted in favour of killing unborn babies? Both abuse and abortion are abhorrent – the latter is not a badge of honour or a triumph for modern Ireland.

The cult’s apparatchiks have the most trouble with the fact they no longer get to dictate morality.
I’m loving it.

Like

Ah yes, Anonymous @12:48, I’m sure the aborted babies are eternally grateful to those who voted for abortion to show that the Catholic Church no longer gets to “dictate morality”. God help us all if that’s the moral compass of modern Ireland. “We can now legally kill our future citizens, but at least we gave the two fingers to the Catholic Church”.

How many children has the Catholic Church killed, Pat? More than the 56 million lives ended through abortion annually?

Like

People who have killed and tortured children themselves have no credibility when talking about abortion.

Like

One might lack credibility – that hardly means that what is being said is wrong. After all, one does not have to be a Catholic or listen to the Catholic Church to come to the conclusion that abortion is wrong.
My issue was with the earlier suggestion that some people have voted for abortion to give the “two fingers” to the Church – a disgusting position, in fact, to try to teach the Church a lesson by causing the legalisation of abortion. What credibility do such persons have, claiming to be disgusted by abuse within the Church after having simply ticked a box to end the lives of thousands of future citizens of this country?

+Pat, I certainly agree that the ROI state should legislate to require the Irish RCC to provide compensation as determined by due independent judicial processes. Leave it to the RCC hierarchy to produce the compo, but with the clear proviso that failure to do so within court determined timescale automatically incurs confiscation for sale of court determined RCC property, plus relevant default interest rate charges.
Slap it into them. That’s all they understand.

Too right, the Irish RCC is clinging to its colossal wealth like a dog with a bone, cynically waiting for time to pass so eventually all claimants will have died. The Irish criminal assets bureau should step in and distribute the payouts to those still suffering whilst they still alive to make some kind of life for themselves and regain dignity and peace of mind.

Many Irish politicians make it obvious that they are “done” with the RCC. They should demonstrate some integrity and “finish the job”.

Liked by 1 person

Few politicians have the moral integrity to go against what is popular with the voting public on which they depend. It may eventually be that court determined compensation could be drawn from a pool of RCC property and monies confiscated by the state. That confiscation process will depend on legislation supported by sufficient politicians motivated by the groundswell of popular public demand.
And it’s happening. The more the public become aware of both the RCC’s wealth and its abusive character the greater will be the impetus towards full compensation mechanisms. This blog is valuable in developing public awareness.

Would abuse in families explain this?
‘For this reason the Church has always taught the importance of the family as the basic unit of the social fabric of society itself: “Authority, stability, and a life of relationships within the family constitute the foundations for freedom, security, and fraternity within society” (2207). The family, therefore, as an “institution is prior to any recognition by public authority, which has an obligation to recognize it” (2202). Since marriage and family have their basis in the created order, confirmed by the explicit Revelation of God…’

Maybe this video will go some way to explaining why there are so many children sexually abused in Ireland.
Another possible reason is, the disdain which many Irish people hold towards the Roman Catholic church and it’s clergy, the explosive exposé of the many abuses, including sex abuse, inflicted on Irish children by Roman Catholic church clerics, at last escaping from the claws of the Roman Catholic church dominance, sexually abused victims felt enable/free to expose their sex abusers.
The education system is perhaps another reason, at one stage in a highly Roman Catholic population, sexual abusers from religious orders had enormous access to any amount of Catholic children from 5 years old to 17 years old, every year a fresh batch, it they were not sexually abused previously by another member of the religious order, if so, it is likely that child’s name would be passed on the the next sex abuser Catholic member of the same religious order.
Those sexual abusers must have felt like “a child in a sweet shop” spoiled for choice, which one or more, to choose this year.
It fills me with repugnance even to think of the freedom those sexual abusers had, and the children who passed through their filthy hands.

The problem was/is that I cannot tell them off, it’s not my place to tell him or her, or what to do etc except for dangerous moments where we had to intervene to prevent rape which we did once before.

Otherwise, they would tell me, bugger off, mind your own business et al.

I strongly abhorred in the strongest terms, child sex or rape without any consent whatsoever. It goes beyond the pale. If I could rewind my past experience to now, I would bring a golf club to whack them hard in cabra school to make them aware that it’s totally unacceptable, a non starter quite frankly. Fair enough as I agree with your comments especially the fact that Phonsie allowed RP to continue on for last two years. To be honest with you, I had forgotten about that time frame which you have brought it up.
Fair play to you for reminding me this 🙈.
Its sheer arrogance by phonsie to this blog and elsewhere especially in diocese of Waterford.
He has a brass neck, thought he rode roughshod over ourselves, this blog, people of Waterford expecting no consequences in return for himself. That’s blatantly sheer arrogance on his part. That’s his weakness which I could see for others to take him down.
But I have a strong suspicion re Phonsie and his support of RP tells us more about him, sexual orientation although I could be wrong there. I can’t say it on this blog for reasons known to myself. That suspicion hasn’t gone away yet in my eyes.
Agree with you completely re total disregard for many faithful Catholics in Waterford. Its a scandal in my view.
In other words, he has no respect for any Catholics in W&L Diocese, any Catholics who read this blog and other blogs elsewhere. That total disrespect is almost equivalent to = sheer arrogance. For me, I would take him down to a peg or two if given an opportunity to do so.
Finally, Phonsie was normalising it by giving his approval and tacit support to RP. That’s why I say leave RP alone, just attack that Bishop of W&L if you can cos he’s wholly and totally responsible for what it went on for 2 years as you said it.

Without doubt there is a huge problem with sexual abuse in the families, we will probably never know the exact data on that, anyone who protects a child sexual abuser, should have the same punishment as the sexual abuser.
The problem with Roman Catholic priests sexually abusing, is above all else, the trust that is broken, the confidence which was placed in them by children and, adults alike, blown to smithereens.
The hypocrisy of claiming to be celibate.
Not forgetting the sins of the Fathers.
Deference for priests, who turn out to be paedophile.
The expectation of the faithful to adhere to Roman Catholic teaching when the clergy were flouting all the rules to satiate their sexually perverted needs.
The realisation that not only were children being groomed but, also their parents.
In so many ways everything that was thought to be honest and straightforward was in fact covert, deceitful, opaque.
The complicit sexual abuser enablers, the Bishops and Popes duplicitous misbehaviour is in my opinion unforgivable.
The Roman Catholic faithful would not have the same trust, belief, in Tom, Dick , or Harry.
One more point, which I think is relevant, the hoodwinking of Catholics by by their hierarchy, which makes any thinking person wonder about their own judgement of character, how could we for so long be so stupid, as not to suspect, the crimes committed, (Although there was always a little doubt niggling away) that hurts both pride, faith, and intelligence.
