A SECOND FRENCH ARCHBISHOP ADMITS ABUSE.

A second Catholic bishop in France in the course of several days has come forward to publicly admit having committed sexual abuse.”In the late 1980s when I was a Franciscan friar I made inappropriate gestures toward a young woman of legal age, behavior that I deeply regret,” said retired Archbishop Jean-Pierre Grallet in a brief statement dated November 15. “By this public statement, I wish to contribute to the process of truth and assume my responsibility,” said the 81-year-old Grallet, who served as archbishop of Strasbourg from 2007-2017.The French Bishops’ Conference (CEF) made the statement public on Wednesday.Request for forgivenessArchbishop Grallet told La Croix he did not wish to give further details on the events, which date back to a time when he was serving as a student chaplain. But he acknowledged that a canonical investigation is currently underway and that a report has been sent to the public prosecutor.”During the summer of 2022, I learned of this woman’s testimony,” Archbishop Grallet said in his public statement. “I immediately wrote to her to tell her that I had failed and to ask her for forgiveness,” he pointed out. “I went astray and I hurt a person.

PAT SAYS

This new phenomenon of bishops confessing they abused as priests is thought provoking.

Why did they accept the bishops position knowing they were abusers?

Was it a case of ambition triumphing over principle ?

Oh Please! the very last thing you could call Patsy is a clerical careerist, that’s just not possible in Loyal Larne, there is no career. He also identifies with the Novus Ordo Brigade notorious for ‘dressing down’. Don’t know about thrills but there is no power! Sounds like you have a hidden agenda, you don’t like Patsy.

11:37 Bishop Tom Deenihan has deliberately destroyed the clerical career of Dom Benedict Andersen in revenge for Andersen reporting Mark Kirby at Silverstream Priory. Kirby is currently being supported by his Irish peers to live in a community of nuns in Belgium. In the meantime, Silverstream whistleblower Dom Benedict Andersen is being punished by Bishop Tom Deenihan and others. This is actionable.

11.37: Pat, a careerist? Never. He’s an independent minister with a small group of adherents and has no one to be in competition with. Isn’t he lucky considering all that’s happening in his former spiritual home. I suspect many of us envy Pat to some degree.

Indeed, it used to be a cause of shame in Ireland to leave or be thrown out of a seminary. Nowadays it’s a cause of shame to enter a seminary, such is the extent of the destruction of the reputation of priesthood caused by abuser priests and their episcopal and religious superior enablers, plus the antics of the “having it all” merchants featured on the blog.

At least Grallet is stepping up to the plate and not engaging with the usual RCC modus operandi in perverting the course of justice.

One has to provide very good reasons for refusing a promotion. Grallet didn’t confess until the allegation was made.

LOL that’s not a defense.
The whole point is that he is saying he is assuming responsibility but hasn’t before now, but I wouldn’t expect you to understand that.
Responsibility does not mean getting away with it until caught. Lol

Francis without a doubt has the hots for Zancheeta.
He almost acknowledged the fact of his homosexuality, when he said; “Who am I to judge” when interviewed by Italian journalist Andrea Tornielli in 2016

Francis tried to get Grassi’s 15 year sentence overturned because he himself got away with preying on seminarians. While Francis was unsuccessful in keeping Grassi and Zanchetta out of jail, he has succeeded in the case of his boyfriend Battista Ricca with whom he lives in the Casa Santa Marta.

An Argentine living in the States whose graphic detailed description of the behavior I found credible like I did the testimony of Thomas Munoz about the orgy involving Lucas in Springfield. Francis could not judge Ricca’s homosexual behavior because he himself engaged in homosexual behavior which he covered up for countless priest throughout his life.

Grallet issued apology statement via La Croix on the advice of his lawyer after his victim had filed her allegation. It’s nothing more than a cynical move directed by his lawyers to lighten his sentence. Leopards don’t change their spots in the RCC.

It’s not surprising that Bishops accept promotions knowing that they are abusers. They knowingly move abusive priests from one parish to another worldwide proactively facilitating endangerment. They are fully aware that they are protected members of a powerful international organisation well versed and experienced in evading accountability in all manner of wrong doing whether that be fiddling the till, taking bribes or kiddy fiddling.

Did you, Very Rev PP, engage in strange goings on in Maynooth, or in the Irish College, where “Give it to me, Gavin” could be heard through the walls, or have you an extensive underwear collection, been a beach boy like Fr Carey, set out your wares on a Grindr or Silverdaddies webcam, been the main course in an abbey kitchen, popped a cherry in Rome, got handsy with GAA lads in Dungannon or had gay porn pop on the screen from your laptop during a First Holy Communion class?

Hey, see something positive here…at least it was a legal age girl and the Archbishop is a raving heterosexual ! You got to see the positives where you can ! Yes, I agree he should not have done anything here, but it does sound as though it is at the lavender end of the scale, and might be something that lots of us will have done when we were testosterone fuelled young men. He won’t go to prison. He probably won’t even be prosecuted. But he will be put out to dry by the French bishops who are desperate to clear out their cupboard of any skeletons. This guy will suffer. Is that enough ?

The only way to deal with this problem is to remove deviant bishops from the clerical state and cut them off from all financially. Hopefully, that will make men reflect upon accepting the episcopacy if something is incompatible with their past.

Queenievenus, I love that any implication of cash in hand is greeted with rage by the clergy who have lived off cash gifts from the laity forever – precisely because there is no audit trail.
That’s why they rage, they feel safe with this one and the rage is actually transferred from their anger that so many others of their little schemes have been revealed.
My only criticism would be that I think nowadays the word ‘lube’ would be better than ‘grease’.

I love the way you introduce the word, raging, into your contributions. I haven’t heard anyone, even in Ireland use it anymore, so descriptive, every time I see it , it brings back so many memories, language of course changes all the time, it’s always a pity, when words are lost, no longer in common used.

I wonder what category Conry’s conquests and girlfriends over the years fit in to ? Consensual, abusive, disparity of authority, manipulative…… ? Didn’t one of the husbands complain that his behaviour constituted something akin to a marriage / home wrecker ? Just having an affair or a bit of nooky for the priest or bishop, indeed for anyone in a professional and responsible position, is not as straightforward or as simply as it looks. So, boys, best keep your pecker in your pants and your tongue in your mouth. Yuk !

I think the job of papal nuncios is becoming harder as priests who are approached about being a bishop back off, if they have even the slightest whiff of something in their past, because they know in this climate it will eventually out. I know priests who have had to tell the papal nuncio that they have a “history’, one even a child out of wedlock, which begs the question about the much vaunted scrutiny, due diligence and intelligence that the Vatican is supposed to have. I think a good number of the bishops who are appointed these days are names well down the turna and not the first choice. I suspect Collins of East Anglia was the last remaining hope on the list when he was appointed. Anyway, who would want to be a bishop, dealing with awkward and criminal priests and complaining right wing laity ? Never mind having to put up with unsustainable and frankly quite silly Church teaching and positions on so many things.

Oh well, he will be happy that he’s not going to be spending his time trying to find bishops in England, Wales and Scotland from a rather poor short list of below average candidates. One does despair at the paucity of talent that exists in the episcopacy and in the ranks of the priests. I do think it’s a sign that young men of any quality and character these days, and for some time since, avoid the priesthood like the plague, knowing that it is a place of toxic behaviour and clerical culture. They know it will do them damage. They know that they can be of service in other ways. So, we are left with third rate seminarians who like to play a game of dressing up and being all self-important in order to bolster their very lacking characters and abilities. They are not impressive and are only distinguished by their mediocrity. These are the men that a future nuncio will have to play with when he is coming to choose bishops in the future. We get what we deserve. And it is not good.

No it’s not Patrick, you know far better than I do, that an honorarium (that will probably not hurt you sensitivities as the grease word, surely you must know, the grease the priest hand, is in common parlance by Irish Roman Catholics, well if you didn’t, you know now. )is a tradition in Ireland and most likely elsewhere, that has continued for generations, after funerals, after baptisms, after marriages, not to talk of the money raked in signing Mass cards, that’s a nice little earner. I’m seething with envy, I didn’t get a tip for doing my job.
I have a sense it’s tied up with trying to paving a smooth path for the deceased, indulgences can always be applied either to oneself or, to the souls of the deceased, now isn’t that convenient. Poor old Luther must be turning in his grave, only joking Patrick, I am trying to tease.
Patrick I know nothing, if it keeps you happy keep calling me Queenie Know All, you are not hurting my feelings, I’m as bold as brass, and I have lot to learn.
Here’s a little poem to console you.
The Ballad Of Father Gilligan
by William Butler Yeats
The old priest Peter Gilligan
Was weary night and day;
For half his flock were in their beds,
Or under green sods lay.
Once, while he nodded on a chair,
At the moth-hour of eve,
Another poor man sent for him,
And he began to grieve.
‘I have no rest, nor joy, nor peace,
For people die and die’;
And after cried he, ‘God forgive!
My body spake, not I!’
He knelt, and leaning on the chair
He prayed and fell asleep;
And the moth-hour went from the fields,
And stars began to peep.
They slowly into millions grew,
And leaves shook in the wind;
And God covered the world with shade,
And whispered to mankind.
Upon the time of sparrow-chirp
When the moths came once more.
The old priest Peter Gilligan
Stood upright on the floor.
‘Mavrone, mavrone! the man has died
While I slept on the chair’;
He roused his horse out of its sleep,
And rode with little care.
He rode now as he never rode,
By rocky lane and fen;
The sick man’s wife opened the door:
‘Father! you come again!’
‘And is the poor man dead?’ he cried.
‘He died an hour ago.’
The old priest Peter Gilligan
In grief swayed to and fro.
‘When you were gone, he turned and died
As merry as a bird.’
The old priest Peter Gilligan
He knelt him at that word.
‘He Who hath made the night of stars
For souls who tire and bleed,
Sent one of His great angels down
To help me in my need.
‘He Who is wrapped in purple robes,
With planets in His care,
Had pity on the least of things
Asleep upon a chair.’
