Armagh is no better and no worse than any other diocese. All Masonic Lodges occupied by 2 faced masons agitating on behalf of their affluent benefactors & cohorts.

And there you have it.
Greedy clerics do believe and act out their lives as if they ARE God himself.
foolish people pay out their hard earned money to fund such opulence in the belief that money buys them a road into heaven.
One wonders who will be next elected to reside at Cult Headquarters Lisbreen.

Sleepless in Seattle - definitely not the leisurely Island of Irish Saints & Scholarssays:

12:42 Workload in Seattle is far more intense and demanding than in Noel Treanors handy number here on the island of Ireland yet outlay on residence almost half in that American State. Treanor is yet another greedy clerical parasite on this small island.

Councillor Cathal Crowe confirms on RTE that County Clare is at maximum capacity at 3%says:

Councillor Cathal Crowe has confirmed on RTE this morning that County Clare is beyond crisis point in terms of its current capacity to house any more Ukrainian refugees. He has acknowledged the huge welcome and support already extended in County Clare from the general public to date. This now provides an opportunity for the church in Clare will come forward to offer the many empty residential properties owned by the church in County Clare.

9.17 We don’t need to take any Ukrainians in. They are not being properly vetted. The government is well able to offer huge sums to local hospitality businesses to take them in Ukrainians i.e. the Glentworth hotel in Limerick City which is now only a hotel for Ukrainian guests.

Like

11:10 the clerics were vetted and it didn’t make one iota of difference & this repeatedly failed to provide any guarantee of safety to those selected for victimisation by their colleagues and themselves.

Like

11:10 poor traumatised war refugees “not properly vetted”!! That’s rich when the public read in media on what’s coming out by the hour on your “holier than thou organisation”!!

Like

11:10 I work in another hotel housing refugees and I object to your comment about the Glentworth Hotel in Limerick – my employers are entitled to make a living and the contract to house Ukrainian refugees has secured our employment after the rigours of the Covid pandemic. Hotels do not have the luxury of church privilege & cannot shake buckets and baskets at public for donations to keep going or apply for endless government grants to pay rates, wages and heating and lighting. The refugees are nice people and far more polite than some Of our own Irish customers have been over the years.

Like

1:21 it’s impossible to vet the likes of Fr Rory Coyle over in England confusing Scotland Yard and spelling his name in Irish. The Roman Catholic Church have had decades of experience in perfecting networks to traffic children on false documentation from mother & baby homes being one example.

Like

4.37 What are you objecting to? I didn’t say anything negative about the hotel so don’t get your knickers in a knot. I was simply pointing out that there is no need for families to take in refugees as the government are housing the Ukrainians in hotels until they find permanent accommodations for them.

Like

9:17 as the Crow flies this afternoon, we haven’t been able to find any Ukrainians housed in Roman Catholic Church property.

Lovely empty building on way into Ennis. St. Flannan’s College . empty boarding school.. loads of vacant rooms.. could house hundreds of Ukranians.

7:24 I note that Clare TD Cathal Crowe is a very hard working politician with a young family. As a former teacher, he has a full understanding of the unresolved difficulties that had already existed for years in the Irish education system now intensified by the consequences of Putins war. He is to be highly commended for his bravery in voicing the truth of the situation as it currently stands all over Ireland, not only in County Clare.

Disgraceful that a so called pastor of a diocese, a so called Christian shepherd should live in such opulence and splendour. On top of this he has his manicured lawns and lives behind high gates. Mind numbing. How is this compatible with the teachings of Christ? It simply is not.

Yes, someone finally put it up on YouTube so the whole world can see what an utterly depressing and dysfunctional place it really is. The only normal guy in that documentary was Mark. The others look completely detached from reality. They show the video in secondary schools now to try and get more boys to sign up. “Aw aye, they play football and drink a lot of bevvy. In addition to the rooms listed, there is also a library and sitting room in the ground floor, and a big modetn annex at the back where the diocesan offices are (though the diocese has offices elsewhere too, eg in the former D&C seminary.

It is a matter of public interest because Noel managed to get a bit of Stormont funding for it (though most came from the sheep). I work in corporate governance and I would not have allowed £4m to be spent on it. One of the principles of goid financial management is that you don’t spend more on repairs, restoration and maintenance than a property is worth. No house in NI is worth £4m. It should have been sold in its unrestored state and a new dwelling and offices obtained for far less than £4m.

PS, the male/female loos are for when receptions and large meetings are held, but Noel is anti-social and such events are rarely held. Noel sits alone every evening watching TV in one of his several sitting rooms.

For the avoidance of doubt, the floor plans are for the bishop’s house. The offices are in an annex behind it, not shown on the floor plans.

SPIRITANS TOLD TO RETAIN RECORDS AND ASSETS IN ANTICIPATION OF ABUSE INQUIRY
Minister for Education writes to order as discussions continue about potential inquiry into handling of historical abuse
Pat Leahy Jack Power
The Irish Times. Tue Nov 29 2022.
“The Government has requested that the Spiritan order retain all its assets and maintain all records related to sex abuse allegations in its schools, which have been at the centre of recent allegations of abuse by former pupils. The move is thought to be in anticipation of an inquiry into the handling of historical abuse allegations in several high-profile schools run by the order, formerly known as the Holy Ghost Fathers, and a potential compensation scheme for victims.” “The Spiritan order recently said it had congressional assets worth more than €57 million.”

I have more contempt for the Catholics who continue to fund these freeloading parasites (despite knowing about them what everyone else now knows) than I have for the parasites themselves.

A priest (now deceased) told me, over twenty years ago, that he took a dislike to the layout of his presbytery, and effectively demanded that his pp fork out from parish funds £28,000 to renovate/refurbish the interior. He got the money, and the work was done.

How many of his parishoners could have afforded this outlay? Not many, yet he had access to funds THEY had contributed to. It was a damn disgrace!

Why are people this stupid when it comes to Catholic priests? Are there still some who think these men are God’s representatives? These men are vile. An offence to Christ.

Roman Catholic faithful are not the only gullible ones, taken in by religions, its a disease permeated amongst all “religious” leaders.
I suggest the most likely reason for continuing to give money to churches, is the golden carrot of……, nirvana, heaven, eternal life, if the donor thinks that money can in their opinion, pave the way to immortality, there is no holding them back.
It’s the cleverest trick in the book, generations of trusting, impressionable humans have fallen for that ploy, and some will continue to give.
As long as immortality is offered as a sop, money will continue to flow into religious institutions.

As an aside, recently my brother in law died, he must have had 250 Mass cards if 5 Euros was given to the Roman Catholic priest it would work out at 1250, Euro,
if the donation was 10 Euro the priest was quid’s in, gaining 2,500 Euro that is, for one funeral.
(Is it any wonder some women are clamoring to become Roman Catholic priests.)
This custom is slowly coming to an end, as condolences are entered into the condolence book at the under takers.
There will always be the chancers of course, who will continue to buy a Mass for the departed, which is in my opinion completely unnecessary as the prayer for the dead is said everyday at Mass globally.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. From the Apostle’s Creed

Pat, can you forward a plan of the house given to you by Down and Conor so that we can compare the buildings? The Lisbreen chateaux is certainly very grandiose..and way beyond acceptable unless it contains all diocesan offices and agencies and used as a diocesan centre for meetings, seminars etc….

I don’t have a floor plan. It is a 5 bedroom house. I live most of the time in two room – kitchen and bedroom. It was the curates house in Larne.

1:43 it is hard for most people to heat more than 2 rooms these days. It’s in times like these that we are very grateful that our parents & grandparents brought us up not to be wasteful and we have passed this on to our children who have taught their college housemates to bulk cook and to freeze portion food and how to light & tend a fire. It was shocking to find that these skills were mocked and left behind during the Irish Celtic Tiger.

Like

Did previous curates need the five bedrooms for their wives? Or did they have one for wine, one for jazz mags, one for betting slips, and so on.

Like

Each of the two curates had a sitting room and a bedroom with a shared kitchen and dining room and downstairs the housekeeper had her own quarters.

Before my time they built a second curates house.

Now in Larne there is only the PP and my good self of course 😉

No public/diocesan seminars or meetings are held in Lisbreen. It’s a manion with some diocesan offices attached, but the diocese has other offices in Belfast, including two buildings in the city centre and in the former seminary.

7.03: Thank you Pat. I believe the presbytery, while being a place where we can welcome people, is also our home where we can bring family and friends. We are entitled to our privacy and free time. Very often I’m delighted to have my haven to go to where I find some peace, quiet and prayer time. When my mother was alive it was a privilege to have her stay with me over the years. I have little regard for the smug begrudgers who sadly would find fault with the manger in which Jesus was born. I suspect these begrudgers are not living in huts not helping the homeless or poor. And I believe these same begrudgers have no Ukranians living with them.

Why doesn’t each diocese just house all clergy in one residential dwelling – and then sell all the diocesan property.
They don’t need luxury or too much comfort as poor witness and undermines gospel.
Thing is they largely detest each other and couldn’t live together that’s the cold harsh truth.

Maryvale, Aston Hall, Harvington Hall, Oscott, Alton Castle…. Brum Archdiocese has a whole host of old and expensive properties that it is struggling with. In themselves they don’t constitute a very profitable real estate portfolio (it is f***ing Birmingham !) and trying to sell them on will be difficult and the profit not huge. Nothing like some of the religious orders in London are able to get – eg the Jesuits with Heythrop and the nuns who cannily wrote in a clause that if they sold it on then they would claw back some of the profits ! Tens and tens of millions. Various religious orders close up and have a tussle with the bishop – Elsie especially ! – about who actually owns the land / property. Elsie’s take is that it was all paid for by the faithful, so should go back to the faithful by way of him ! I’ve huge admiration for some of the nuns who have told him to f**k off ! Elsie’s not used to that. By the way, have we any clue as to when Elsie will shuffle off to Chiswick or wherever and live. out his remaining days with his nun ? He’s well past the retirement age, he’s just turned 77. I guess they are struggling trying to find someone to replace him, the pool of talent being pretty dire as suggested by the last two appointments of Collins and Monger.
