WAS BYRNE “SACKED” BY PAPAL NUNCIO AND REFUSED ANOTHER APPOINTMENT ! WAS BYRNE REMOVED FOR SAFEGUARDING CONCERNS?

I have been contacted by Hexham and Newcastle clergy and others………

BYRNE

BYRNE AND THE FATHER GARDNER AFFAIR

TIM GARDNER FORMER DOMINICAN

A leading figure in Catholic education pleaded guilty in a London court this week to downloading more than 5,000 images of child pornography from the internet to his computer.

Fr Tim Gardner, 41, a former religious education adviser to the Catholic Education Service (CES), admitted possession of the images when he appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Monday. Of the 5,005 images cited, many were graded at level four and five – the most extreme – and one depicted bestiality.

Bishop Byrne wanted to bring his best friend, the paedophile Dominican priest TIM GARDNER, to live with him in Bishop’s house!!!

Byrne was enraged when safeguarding officer Angie Richardson told him : “NO, YOU CAN NOT HAVE GARDNER LIVING WITH YOU ON DIOCESAN PROPERTY.

Why would Byrne want such a man living with him?

***** Byrne tried to get Gardner a position as an educationalist on a H&N project for vulnerable people in a Peru mission !!!

BYRNE AND THE CANON MC COY AFFAIR

A Catholic priest took his own life days after learning police were investigating him over a ‘historic allegation’, a coroner has ruled.

Canon Michael McCoy, 57, was found dead at his apartment in Newcastle on April 10 last year.

Mc Coy, Byrne’s cathedral Dean, held weekly gay parties in a cathedral room attended by gay cathedral volunteers.

These meetings took place during the Covid lockdown.

These very boozy parties ( who paid for the booze) were attended by lay men, and a drag artist called MISS RORY.

Byrne knew about these parties and did nothing.

Did he ever attend them?

We don’t know at present.

The Bishop, sex offender and McCoy socialised together and the Bishop also took the sex offender into the private quarters in the cathedral.

YOUNG ALTAR SERVER?

One young male altar server in his 20s was invited to those parties.

Later, Byrne made that young man his PRIVATE SACRISTAN.

SEX ABUSE VICTIMS

The diocesan safeguarding officer ANGIE RICHSRDSON, a former police officer, refused to let Byrne meet victims of abuse because of “his lack of judgement and lack of a moral compass.”

RESIGNATION OF ANGIE RICHARDSON

The Hexham and Newcastle safeguarding officer, Angie Richardson, resigned specifically because Byrne refused to take safeguarding advice and undermined safeguarding decisions at every turn.

Angie received no support from her line manager, Fintona Standfield, the non Catholic COF – chief operating officer of Hexham and Newcastle diocese.

More, much more to come …….

There was a third one, in an English diocese, though I cannot remember his name. Well done, Pat, for your service to truth and safeguarding in exposing these scandals. More powere to your elbow, Pat!

Former police officer is undermined in her new role as Safeguarding Officer & forced to resign due to her concerns about improper conduct from serving clerics.says:

10:28 Church should be booted away from any contact or influence in the education system. Far too many of them appear to be paedophiles or paedophile protectors worldwide. It speaks volumes when an experienced police officer like Angie Richardson is forced to throw in the towel and walk away from the blatant refusal of the Roman Catholic Church to admit or deal with the escalating tide of all manner of abuse committed by it’s members.

Pat, if your investigative work has any truth, this is a sordid story. I cannot fathom why, after all the sexual abuse scandals for the past 30 years or more that a bishop or priest does not realise that the public faithful are scandalized by the behaviour described above. The events as described are a scandal. None of us is totally perfect and I do not approve of a deliberate targeting of any person in a malicious or vindictive manner, but truth is essential and paramount. These revelations are faith shattering.

Well, the inability / unwillingness / lack of cop on of + Byrne in the various items you have described today, is no surprise. It simply confirms the culture of “instant wisdom and authority” that the likes of + Byrne have been brought up in. They will not take advice, they will not act prudently and responsibly, and they think they know it all ! I’d say that + Byrne just didn’t get his responsibility about safeguarding, and bulldozed his way past anybody giving him advice. You mention Fr Gardner OP, but that dates back to 2014. Given that, why did + Byrne get made a bishop after making a fool of himself over Gardner ? Anyhow, it sounds to me as though there are a lot of layers yet to be peeled back. And, it sounds as if the Nuncio decided to sort out the problem of + Byrne before he departs these shores off back to Rome. Well, done the Nuncio ! At least someone seems to be taking things seriously. + Byrne now needs to retreat to Oxford, live quietly, shut up, and do his satin, latin and lace stuff in moderation, live the odd life of an Oratorian as if he was a 19th century reverend gentlemen, and get the Oxford Tube up and down to London to go to the Royal Opera House. Anything more public will put him back on these pages.

“Instant wisdom and authority” : key words in your comment @ 11:05.
It seems that the ‘ontological change’ alleged by clerics bestows such qualities, or at least many of them believe it so.
To some extent the laity seem to collude with this misconceived belief. Allowing deferential priority to clerics has been widespread, certainly in Ireland.
In reality, many clerics have been the product of a sheltered cosseted existence with little experience, certainly no training, for the everyday problems of the real world.
The results are manifest, and increasingly so with modern communications.

This appears to be a remarkable lack of judgment by Bishop Billy Bunter. A desire to cohabit with a convicted paedophile and provide him with a job, appointing a young sacristan who had partied with the accused dean, and knowing of gay parties with a drag queen. He may celebrate pontifical masses, but all the Brum clergy will laugh at him behind his back. He will have to be exiled like Fr. Paul Chavasse after his infatuation.

Your daily reminder that young people or anyone who becomes vulnerable for any reason or is in any way gullible continue to be treated as fresh meat for exploitation by the clergy & their drag Queen members that possess obviously demonstrated incurable and permanent criminal and abusive tendencies. That young man in his 20s appears to have been groomed into the clerical drag Queen parties that go on behind closed doors and attended by their fakey, make y up, liars & truth distortinists who carefully cultivate themselves as outwardly devout but in reality are lay closet weirdos on broomsticks. Evil personified they are. The sad truth is that in the interests of their own safety & peace of mind, people need to wise up and smell the coffee to the FACT that the RCC is now nothing more than a sex and money obsessed cult determinedly bamboozling an ever decreasing population of old dears to remember them in their Will. Shameful that young people attempting to find their own place in the world are effectively trafficked into the drag Queen scene when they unwittingly volunteer their services to the RCC.

The story surrounding + Byrne’s resignation from Hexham and Newcastle has much more to it than what he says in his resignation letter. There are layers upon layers to be peeled back to get at the truth – exhaustion, maybe; realisation of being overwhelmed; financial incompetence; being loose and irresponsible with safeguarding issues; personal connections and relationships; being too lazy to work at the required level; cultural and regional incompatibility (even though from Manchester, Byrne is really an Oxford southerner who wants to be within easy reach of London); and a whole host of other issues about the man and his abilities. The Brum clergy were bemused when he was appointed first as an auxiliary, but dumbfounded when he went up to H&N on the back of the Newman nonsense and Benedict’s visit. Hopefully, we have learned that appointing wannabe posh, satin, latin, lace Oratorians to the episcopacy is a huge error. Leave them to waltz around in their faux 19th century gentlemen’s existence, pretending that they are the True Faith of England, where they can do little harm and can carry out a ministry to the odd and sad. Anything outside of that is dangerous for us. Leave them in aspic. Leave them to their eccentricities.

I guess the Nuncio knows more than is being said, and has decided that it is simply best to put Byrne back in to the Oratories dressing up cupboard and hope that he will keep out of the way and quiet. Interesting too that the various bishops don’t seem to want him on their team. Longley will have had enough of him when he was in Birmingham. Perhaps the decent thing for Byrne to do is to get rid of all the Episcopal clobber, ring, cross etc, and just return to being a rank and file Oratorian. I hope for his sake the he does so, rather than making a fool of himself traipsing around as a traditionalist bishop for hire.

Being groomed in seminary if you are pretty ? Finding out that you can have your clerical cake and eat it, and play away from home ? Spend five or six years at somebody else’s expense being fed and watered and badly educated ? When will some bishop stand up and say, “This is nonsense…”? And then say what we all know, that the priesthood as presently conceived and lived is finished and they need to reimagine more than parish boundaries. Like the priesthood itself. By my reckoning, there are two diocesan episcopal vacancies in E & W – Plymouth and now Hexham and Newcastle. I wonder how long it will take to fill them, or more importantly find people who will take them ? More and more priests, when called to the Nuncio, are refusing the appointment, and they are having to dive deep to the bottom of the barrel and take the scrapings these days. I mean, Fireside Chat Collins could never have been the first choice for East Anglia, surely he was well down the list, but the only one to say yes. The ones that say no are the sensible ones. Bollocks to obedience to the Pope and commitment to service. I don’t blame them.

And by MY reckoning you, Anon @ 1:16 are an RC cleric who recognises the reality that the whole RCC is a man made shambolic construction to maintain benefit for its clergy.
RCC origins may well have been a genuine belief in JC, a singularly impressive individual said to fulfill nationalistic aspirations of the then Roman suppressed tribal Jews. Once Emperor Constantine endorsed the legitimacy of Christian aspirations and incorporated them into a Roman power and control framework the stage was set for all the subsequent self serving machinations of the RCC. 2000 years later it lumbers on, but increasingly frail and stumbling from crisis to crisis.
Its “end is nigh!”

Mourneman, it started with the materialism of Origen and Tertullian (eager scholars though they were) and the fragmenting of initiation (leading to status consciousness towards clergy by Augustine). Some of Constantine’s successors being Arian (an equally illogical mysticism) also helped throw the focus on the secular. In the 5 th century the church had the best admin ability to feed the populace of Rome.

Spent a few days over the summer with my brother who runs a parish in a large provincial town. Very disappointed. He is struggling and depressed and I’m ashamed to say is as much committed to the parish as +Byrne was to H & N. We need to improve the lot of our local parish priest and he to make our involvemnt in the parish more engaging.
Parishes are merging. Brilliant. Dioceses too! There is no need for the plethora of small parishes/dioceses given the dwindling number of priests/bishops/parishioners and their advancing age. Most parish churches could manage with one mass at the weekend. It’s not hard to travel to the next church if the time in your’s doesn’t suit.
Preparations need to be made for 2050. What will the structure of the Irish Church be like then? I’d like to think great minds are planning for that but there is no evidence to suggest they are.
Bishops need to be chosen by the people of the diocese they are to be ordained for. CEOs (plenty of money for them) can run the diocese leaving the bishop freed up for pastoral duties.
Priests need to better prepare liturgies. Mass is more than a ritual and we need to get back to having a better understanding of scripture, the basis of our spirtual life. There have been some very difficult first reading lately which needed explaining.
Deacons have made no big impression on our parish.
Women priests? Why not. Provided they don’t organise themseles into a clerical caste.
As a prayer group we meet fortnightly. We take the Sunday readings as the basis of our prayer and discernment. Could we each take turn to celebrate Mass? Might come to that.
A modern understanding of what it means to be Christain …………?

H&N have just released a follow up on their website after Bishop Malcom’s report( which many consider as whitewash ) . It’s long  & wordy and at best damage limitation with no sign of an apology from Byrne or to the whistleblower Angie Richardson. At various churches in the Diocese meetings were held and the anger , pain and shame were vented  to those who organized. The absence of those under 35 was notable in the estimated  total of around 400  who attended and the survey at the end of the report  was grim reading, with a lack of confidence in the church in their ability to be seen as a safe place to go  and I’m struggling myself. I’ve lost my faith & wonder how I can stay in such a religion that  papers over  not so much the cracks but hypocrisy and self indulgence when it comes to sexual gratification. I’m not observing Lent  and am at the point of giving up the Church. Bishop Stephen comes across as a decent  man but has been handed a mess but like  Hexham & Newcastle is toeing the line..
