You have turned my Fathers House into a den of thieves
MY LETTER TO GARDA APRIL 2022

Dear Chief Superintendent Xxxxx
I have been made aware that a serious crime has been committed in your divisional area.
A Father Pat Butler, a priest of the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore is alleged to have stolen the sum of € 70,000 from diocesan funds.
The Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, Phonsie Cullinane has made a private arrangement with Father Butler to pay monies back at the rate of € 5,000 over a period of 14 years.
As the money was donated by the public of Waterford and Lismore this is a serious matter of public concern.
As a priest, who lived in and was ordained in Waterford, and having family members still residing in Waterford, I have a strong interest and involvement in that area and feel that because of my connection I am a person who can legitimately report this matter to the Gardai.
Father Butler still resides in the Waterford area.
Sincerely yours,
(Bishop) Patrick Buckley.

RESPONSE FROM GARDA NOVEMBER 2022
Dear Bishop Buckley
I previously spoke to you in late April/Early May in regard to the email which you sent as listed below. I have been liaising with the office of Bishop Cullinan over the last 6 months and neither Bishop Cullinan or his office have any criminal complaint to make. Without any firm evidence to indicate a criminal act we cannot pursue this matter any further. Many thanks for your initial correspondence and you taking my previous call.
Regards
Inspector Xxxxx Xxxx
PHONSIE REMOVED FR BUTLER’S NAME FROM DIOCESAN WEBSITE LIST OF PRIESTS!

Pat, your letter uses the word “alleged”. Who alleged? The Gardai received no complaint of any crime. Remember, you only spent about 3/4 years in Waterford. You’re not the most remembered or famous export. By your own imagining you think you donated millions to the city of Waterford. You haven’t a dot of interest in the city except to seek once again to incite hatred against your arch nemesis, The Bishop of the city. Sadly Pat, you have made all clerics to be your enemies. We love you to bits! Are you able to confirm definitively the alleged theft? If so, you should go back to The Gardai. Your recall from “priests” us a touch of “he said”, “she said” about it!! Can your priest informers enlighten us?

Are you for real, ‘Father’? ‘No complaint made’ does not necessarily translate as ‘no crime commited’.
If this crime took place, then Phonsie is engaged in a (criminal?) cover-up, something for which romanist bishops worldwide have been named and shamed.
Be on your guard, Phonsie! If the truth in this matter hasn’t already come out, it will, in time.

Mr Butler, from the look of him, may not live long enough to repay the money he allegedly stole from the Sheep. Very convenient.
How did Phonsie handle the police inquiry? I wonder. Did he deny that a theft took place? Or did he simply reply that he had no complaint to make?
If a theft did take place, then did Phonsie lie to the police.😕

I agree that Butler does not look like he’ll be here long enough to pay back this huge sum of money. What I’d like to know is why did an individual priest have access to Diocesan funds without any check in the first place. The blame of course is that this useless bishop hasn’t a clue how to run his Diocese. He should have reported this theft to The Guards immediately.

Legally if your own money were taken from you and you didn’t want to press charges law enforcement wouldn’t do anything unless it was perceived to be in the public interest.
BUT
It’s not Phonsie’s own money if money has been taken from the diocese because it’s a charity so it SHOULD be in the public interest.
Have you tried taking this to the Garda ombudsman?

Both Phonsie’s “private arrangement” (to repay apparently misappropriated monies), and Daly’s offer to +Pat (£50k pa ×5), seems typically common of RCC’s bishops unfettered liberty in the use of church funds just as they see fit with little if any consideration as to its propriety. What consultation, if any, and with whom, takes place in such matters?
It makes one wonder what other financially significant deals bishops make about using funds contributed by the 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
The financing of bishop Treanor’s exclusive, and expensive mansion springs to mind. The blog has also recently referenced the sale of church owned properties and land in the Dublin diocese.
It’s obvious that declining financial contributions from the laity together with diminishing religious observance will necessitate more ‘sell-offs’ of RCC assets. What steps are necessary to ensure proper use and distribution of such assets which, in first place, were paid for by the……….🐑🐑🐑

It beggars belief on the occasions when the sheep express an opinion that the church is theirs in any way, especially buildings and valuables that they’ve donated to.
Legally they all belong to the legal entity, which is usually the diocese.
They’ve handed over their money to a scam aimed at a comfortable life and getting away with as much as they can for the bishops.

NO LONGER SECRET -OVER 300 SEXUAL ABUSE SURVIVORS OF UPPER-CLASS CATHOLIC SCHOOL SPEAK OUT
Blackrock College and the Spiritan priests sexual abuse accusations bring Ireland’s Catholic Church to be further exposed, now among the upper classes.
DUBLIN (IRELAND)
IrishCentral [New York NY]
Irish Voice Editorial
Dec 15, 2022.
“The latest chapter in Ireland’s seemingly perpetual crisis of child abuse in religious institutions is now being written. We have cycled through abuse in orphanages, industrial schools and Magdalene Laundries, only to now contend with abuse at literally the highest order of all. The name Blackrock College reeks of privilege and upper-class mores. The South Dublin institution was as close to the equivalent of the playing fields of Eton as you could get. Among its alumni are Eamon de Valera, founder of the 26-county Irish state who ruled over Ireland for decades, and Archbishop John Charles McQuade, who almost single-handedly imposed his puritanical control over the Irish church for decades.
Surely, there could be no whiff of pedophile activity in such an established school. Think again, sadly. Thanks to…”

Pat Butler while he does not have a parish since he was removed from his last parish as Parish Priest (Aglish-Ballinameela-Mount Stuart) a parish between Cappoquin, and Youghal, he has filled in for a number of priests who were not available to fulfill their priestly duties due to illness, holidays etc.

Most parishes have direct debits set up with the Lay Faithful and donors with all cash paid in to the banks on a Monday.
This needs further investigation and the Bishop should be informed of the Inspector’s reply and Bishop Pat should refer it to the Charity Commission also to Revenue to investigate the Diocesan accounts.

Jesus was not a “refugee” in any sense meaningful to today’s world. For one thing, Jesus’ family never left the Roman Empire; they simply fled from one region of Roman territory to another Roman territory. That would be like someone moving legally from one state to another within the USA to leave the jurisdiction of the governor of the first state. Also, Luke makes it clear that Joseph and Mary went out of their way to follow Roman law in adhering to the census (Luke 2:1–5). Everything they did was legal.
Jesus and His family moved to Egypt in order to escape King Herod’s murderous intentions, but they had a plan, and they had supplies and support. Their trip was entirely self-funded, due to the gifts of the magi. And their sojourn in Egypt was short. The family remained there until the death of Herod, at which time they returned home (Matthew 2:19–21). Given these details, there’s no real parallel to the modern, indigent refugee who asks permission to enter a new country to avoid some calamity.
There is some truth to the idea that Jesus was a persecuted and poor man, and so we need to consider how we treat those who are displaced and impoverished. However, in the interest of accuracy, Jesus was not what one would consider a “refugee,” either then or now.
