I think that a priest leaving 7 million in a will is a scandal – unless he has left the same or similar sum to those in need.
I know that secular priests have no vow of poverty – and Jesus never said it was a sin to be rich.
But Jesus insisted that the rich share with the poor.
And I hope Fr Gigante shared a lot with the poor?
And then there is the fact that he fathered a son.
I wonder, did Gigante play fast and lose with all the rules?
Was he like some other priests who think that he does have to practice what he preaches?
His closeness to the Mafia is also concerning.
I wonder if Gigante plyed his bishop’s hands with brown envelopes?

4:19, one sincerely hopes that Abbot Borries and the Abbey of Saint-Joseph de Clairval were deceived by Tom Deenihan and his diocesan administration. It’s monstrous to think that an entire French abbey, with a decent reputation, would participate knowingly in something so monstrous.

If Bories was deceived, now that Pat has made him aware of Deenihan’s deception, Dom Bories must seriously reflect on his support for Silverstream. Dom Bories must reflect on why the two co-founders are not involved. Dom Benedict should be central in the reforms of Silverstream.

When I was a seminarian I had such aspirations and dreams. I am just so glad to be out. My sex life is great (with active priests and lay people). My personal wealth is fantastic. Get out while you all can. I will help you all.

There were 10 seminaries, if you add the Irish College, Rome. Not forgetting all the religious order houses of formation that have closed in Ireland, such as those of the Reds and SJs.
Also, why is that Adm getting a three year desk job to set up pastoral councils/talking shops? Surely a lay person could do that?

When Deenihan was named to Meath, a senior priest of Cloyne told me he was corrupt, extremely dangerous, and *never* to be trusted. Almost everything we have seen from him since then has proven to be correct. Deenihan, equal parts depraved and stupid, is running a once thriving diocese into the ground. It will only get worse.

Masturbation is not a sign of immaturity or maturity. Men of all ages masturbate whether they are married or single makes no difference they would laugh at anyone who thinks it’s a phase you go through or a sin that has to be confessed. You have to masturbate to a certain degree during intercourse anyway. It’s shocking how ignorant some people are in the Church about the facts of life.

If the church was consistent its approach to sex would also apply to food. Both are biological necessities that keep us alive but only sex is only supposed to be for its biological purpose. Otherwise people should be confessing that they ate a bar of chocolate when they weren’t hungry and purely for the pleasure. 😛

Bishop Pat, you should referee some commenters so that they don’t engage in prolonged, boring threads of commentary as is happening between two protagonists today, one trying to outsmart the other. After two lots of counter attacks, it becomes very boring. This happens frequently on your blog. On days like today when there’s a shortage of varied comments, you should not print repeat, vacuous comments.
