ARCHBISHOP MC MAHON PUBLISHES TERMS OF REFERENCE OF BYRNE INVESTIGATION.

MC MAHON
BYRNE

PAT SAYS

I am impressed by the apparent professionalism and speed of Malcolm McMahon’s investigation into Bobby Burns.

The terms of reference spelt out above are not something the public sees in an RCC investigation. Normally, the terms are secret.

The investigation is very wide-ranging and basically examines in detail, every little inch of Byrne’s life and activities.

At the same time, the police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a priest by Byrne.

I hope the final report will be published and any censure of Robert Byrne will also be public.

Pat, you once said this, or its like: that you, for personal reasons, were more, rather than less, inclined to take people’s contrition at face value.
Some would call you… ‘gullible’?

This is a step forward in the way the church investigates scandals. Time will tell if it lives up to expectations. I suspect Phylis will be next, but at least he confronted Nicholls on Cormac’s abuse.

You have to wonder why this is being done in this case with the state of many dioceses and orders. This is known to the authorities yet it’s just brushed under the carpet.
Many of the posts here relate to dioceses/institutes in a terrible state where this is never done.
I will not be impressed until this is done routinely, dioceses are appraised and audited regularly, and visitations of religious houses aren’t limited to whether they’re doing anything like their statutes while they’re simultaneously shagging away.

Glad an investigation is underway with a deadline of end of March.
We shall see what emerges – it only gets really interesting if police arrest and charge Byrne otherwise I will expect a whitewash or a cover up.

The Dominican, Malcolm, wants to be seen to do all the right things when it suits him. What about the cover up in Nottingham? Isn’t it rather interesting that the Domincans, Radcliffe and White, both refused Mitres after they saw what it did to their own, Malcolm. Even Geraghty OP objected to our Malcolm’s appointment to Nottingham let alone Liverpool. Watch and learn, watch and learn.

What cover up would that be in Nottingham? There hasn’t been one. Malcolm has been clear and transparent about all safeguarding issues.

I think we all know and agree that Bobby Byrne has a lot of questions to answer, that he was not really the best man for the job, can be a bit of a presumptuous and arrogant prick, maybe allegedly has engaged in some inappropriate safeguarding behaviour in management and personally. BUT….I do hope that we can also find it within us to have some compassion for him as he faces these problems and the maelstrom around them. Without passing judgement, I hope that there are some people who are looking after him. There is nothing to be gain by just throwing him to the wolves and trashing him completely. Once the truth is known, and justice is done, his life still goes on and he is still entitled to learn, to live, and a chance at rehabilitation. We give those rights to everybody who gets in to trouble.

Well maybe when you have stopped being so nasty about him. You might actually be able to see that he’s a good man and will do a good and through job.

He’s really trying so very hard to break the mould, isn’t he? McMahon. The traditional, sneaky, non-transparent way of categorically not dealing with such issues, but, instead, ignoring them under couldn’t-give-the-proverbial, Catholic hierarchical indifference?
Is this a conscience I see before me? It looks like a conscience, and I’m tempted to feel impressed, if you must know. Or (and here approaches the weary cynic in me) is it self-interest that merely LOOKS like conscience?

I think you’d be better off joining a coven; more Christian. And Lucifer puts in the odd appearance, on special occasions like Walpurgis Eve. So, there’s no need for the struggles of faith and dark nights of the soul. The other way round, really. What you see is what you believe. Better than what you believe is what you’ll behold one day. Well, maybe.

He’s not the demon they paint him, Lord Lucifer, but his taste in liturgical dress does him no favours; suggests too much a whiff of sulphur and brimstone, and all this connotes in the popular mind.

No child abuse, though; an absolute no-no. Bad for business, he says. Just look at that lot across the road.

A word of warning : never call him Luci even for affectionate short. It’s… Just don’t; that’s all.

I agree about McMahon she’s got her back to the wall – he’s the Metropolitan isn’t he and Rome is watching her – he wants to piss off when he gets to 75 (next year) so doesn’t want to fall foul – look, it simple – the RCC cannot investigate itself / just as the Metropolitan Police can’t – yes tick boxes, go through the motions etc but do nothing – for everything to change, everything must stay the same.

They already know all of Byrne’s crimes so why bother? What can’t he just admit them and live a life of recollection far away. From any publicity. There’s a whole history of Byrne as a harasser. If he’s called into question then so is the whole system from the Hierarchy that appointed him twice over to Oscott Seminary where he insisted on living. Why isn’t Egan or Davis investigated too ?

That’s interesting- Byrne insisted on living at Oscott!!! Alarm bells.

He’s known as a harasser – so they knew but still made him a bishop.

Nurse is compromised because he’s all lived up with his Dominic!! And Elsie has his Carmel – Phylis has her JPL and so on it goes.

PORTSMOUTH needs this kind of investigation, too. There’s obviously some financial and Canonical abuse taking place. The relationship between Priest and Bishop appears to be damaged beyond much hope of repair (especially as the chief operating officer keeps poking her big nose in) and EGAN (a former Oscott formator) knowingly ordained a man struggling with dangerous issues who went on to attack at least 3 men that we know of. The ongoing cover-up and demands for secrecy and confidentiality is deeply concerning. PORTSMOUTH is in big trouble.

Dear Bishop Pat
Surely even McMahon doesn’t have the brass neck to accept the role of investigator into possible ecclesiastical misjudgements.
At Nottingham he organised a Diocesan Assembly with the usual more than satisfactory outcomes only on paper and deficit in the budget.
He shut down the Catholic School in Grimsby replacing it with something he called “faith school”. At an official event for that entity he was referred to as “Mr”, which for a Bishop is a bit like denying his faith and then disappeared to make way for another ex-rector of Oscott to be promoted to Nottingham.
One of his auxiliaries organised the Cilla Black Memorial Variety Performance which masqueraded as a Novus Ordo funeral.
Jolley was ordained in his Archdiocese.
What happened to the James Preston of Preston who was invited to become Oscott’s Spiritual Director (with benefits?) by the same Archbishop McMahon who is going to reveal all the wrongdoings of our friends up north.
It’s a common saying on this website but you “couldn’t make it up”.

Bishop Dick Emery has his first paedophile priest to deal with. He talks about urgent legal advice to remove him from the clerical state, but why was he allowed to retire over 20 years ago when he was 50 and has not been in active ministry since. He should have been removed ages ago under Pope Benedict’s fast-track procedure for a priest who abandons after five years of absence and shows no signs of returning.

“There may or may not have been a lockdown-breaking social event at the Cathedral. If so, then it will have been nothing on the ones for which the then Prime Minister and the present Prime Minister had received fixed penalty notices. There was certainly no “sex party”. The allegation against the late Canon McCoy is false, and if there really is one at all against Bishop Byrne, then that, too, is a lie.
“Entertain no other possibility. Hold fast to these truths through “inquiries”, civil actions, financial settlements, criminal convictions, guilty pleas, the lot. For behind all of this is the shock troop unit of liberal enforcement, the Diocesan Safeguarding Office, a source that, at least under the regime then in place but I doubt that anything has changed, was not merely tainted, but Satanic. That is why I have no doubt that Canon McCoy committed suicide. It would have been considered too little fun to have murdered him. I can hear the cackling glee at having got inside his head and made him take his own life.”

Pray for Bishop Byrne. And console yourself that the Evil Ones may not be praying, but ought at least to be hoping, that there will be another liberal Pope after this ailing 86-year-old, because otherwise the Oxford Oratory would be as well-connected as it was possible to be, and there would be hell to pay for what they had done. JEAN VANIER BEGAN L’ARCHE TO COVER ABUSIVE ‘MYSTICAL-SEXUAL’ PRACTICES, FINDS REPORT
By Mitchell Atencio
Jan 30, 2023.
“A report released today concluded that Jean Vanier — a Catholic lay leader and founder of L’Arche, a worldwide network of communities supporting adults with intellectual disabilities — founded the first L’Arche community primarily as a cover for a secretive religious sect with exploitative “mystical-sexual” beliefs and practices. The report also found Vanier sexually exploited at least 25 nondisabled women from 1952 until just before his death in 2019, far more than previously known. According to the report, the sect used L’Arche as a “screen” to secretly reunite around their leader, Thomas Philippe, a Dominican priest who had previously been investigated and disciplined by Catholic authorities for his abuse and his manipulative theology.”
