PORTSMOUTH, DUNKELD, AND THE MOVING AND STRANGE MONKS AND NUNS?

EGAN

Dear Bishop Pat,

There are still outstanding questions about the financial bankruptcy of Portsmouth Diocese and Bishop Egan’s craving to transfer the funds from the Priests’ Retirement Fund to be absorbed by the Diocese.

Several priests and some lay people too are now asking if the Diocese of Portsmouth bought the Lawside Academy and Convent of Mercy in Dundee, so that the Franciscan Sisters and Friars from Gosport and Bridgemary could be housed.

Did Portsmouth Diocese buy this site? If so, we need an honest answer.

Is that the main reason why the Retirement Fund valued at least 10 million pounds in real estate is being transferred?

Bishop Egan and his Trustees, (we need a bona fide word to describe the Portsmouth Trustees) claim that one reason why the Sisters and Friars were transferred to Scotland was their lease on the properties had run out, but the leases for both places belong to the Diocese of Portsmouth!

Why was the official name of the Friars changed twice since they came to Portsmouth? Was it because this community was disbanded by the Vatican?

The Friars are still incardinated in Portsmouth Diocese and they have retained occupancy of St. Joseph’s Church and Presbytery, Copnor, Portsmouth. Does that mean they receive their salary from Portsmouth Diocese?

And finally, why did Bishop Stephen Robson, the Bishop of Dunkeld, suddenly announce his early retirement on the feast of Holy Innocents, December 28th 2022?

Did he suddenly realise what a horrible mistake he had made in allowing these two communities into the Diocese of Dunkeld three months prior?

RESIGNATIONS OF TWO MEMBERS OF THE PORTSMOUTH PRIESTS RETIREMENT FUND MANAGEMENT BOARD.

“Dear Fathers,

It is with regret that AS and SB had to resign from the Priests Retirement Fund Management Board earlier today, and we wanted to explain the circumstances.

The PRF Management Board has been in a difficult disagreement with the Diocese for some months regarding its and the Diocesan financial difficulties. Both are short of capital for different reasons. The PRF also has a short-term cash flow problem for this year only, created by several trustee decisions about the CLOSER TO CHRIST fundraising receipts and loan payments. The Diocese has a significant structural deficit over a number of years.

We are unhappy that a number of decisions were taken by PRF trustees, advised by the Curia without any involvement of the PRF Management Board, and when they knew they were conflicted ( as trustees of both the PRF and the Diocesan Trust.

These decisions have been to the detriment of the PRF. We have reported the matter to the Charity Commission and have also complained to the Moderator of the Curia who brought the complaint to the full Ttustees meeting earlier today. We await their findings on our complaint.

At the same meeting, the trustees agreed to a proposal from te Curia, advised by several solicitors for the merger of the two charities, subject to the approval of the Charity Commission.

The Fund itself will be transferred into a Special Trust within the Diocesan Charity. We have been advised that the two solicitors that the Fund is then secure from civil litigation but, of course, will be controlled by a new Diocesan arrangement still to be specified, but not an independent charity.

In addition, no work has been produced to the PRF Management Board or to the Department for Clergy by the Curia on a transition plan, a business case or an operational model for the new arrangements.

The Trustees have taken the decision to merge, not knowing how it will be done and whether it will be effective, confidential, or safe.

Unfortunately, the decisions taken are, in our opinion, so detrimental to the PRF and against the foundation document setting up the PRF that we can not remain to try and assist with the new arrangements whenever they are proposed. We will, of course, cooperate with any timely handover. “

PAT SAYS

The situation is not hard to understand.

Egan is a dictator and is determined to have his way.

Any mere lay person, even if a professional, who gets in his way will be run over by a coach and four.

Certain people have said that Egan is ruining the diocese every way, including financially.

Egan believes himself to be the supreme authority in Portsmouth, and he will do what HE WANTS and spends what HE WANTS

The outcome will be DISASTER and RUIN.

AND, where do these monks and nuns fit into all of this?

Can anyone tell us?

Are they the UK’s SILVERSTEAM or similar?

This is proof that what goes on in a bishop’s diocese with their approval, impacts them and their diocese. Do not allow any “new movements” or “moves” because backing by the Vatican city state is ambiguous and therefore meaningless. BISHOP Egan is unto law himself and nobody else.
Resist him at all costs cos its the only thing that really matters to himself alone. I’m quite surprised that no PRIESTS in diocese of Portsmouth are resisting Bishop Egan which is rightfully theirs re PRF.
‘short of capital for different reasons’, =
Code meaning for diversion of funds into other fund namely ‘closer to christ’. Hence case for financial abuse intended for other things to benefit that Bishop himself.
‘Fund is then secure from civil litigation but, of course, will be controlled by a new Diocesan arrangement still to be specified, but not an independent charity.’ =
Code for protection from future abuses cases.
‘of course, will be controlled by a new Diocesan arrangement still to be specified, but not an independent charity’.
In other words, it WILL be controlled by Bishop Egan as his decision will supercede all his previous decisions.
‘Not independent charity’ implies that it will be controlled by him in some way, shape or form.
It should be reported to the charity and financial regulator asap cos its a form of financial abuse which BENEFITS solely Bishop Egan.

11:40 is in church speak and uses several common phrases in that language.
Honest = compromised by being in the employ of the diocese.
Full information = what we want made public and no more.
This is exactly the tactic used by many a bishop in the past when talking about abusive priests of saying that he had knowledge about father’s funny little ways which he couldn’t disclose to his victims but it was in hand. This invariably meant moving him on to do it again and used to set people’s minds at rest until the pattern became apparent.

When you look at the trustees of the Diocese of Portsmouth and compare the list with the Priest Retirement Fund trustees you see there are Compromised CANONS (THEY ARE ALL CANONS): Michael Denehey, PJ Smith, Paul Townsend, Simon Thompson. They also happen to be on the Council of Priests! These are fairly new CANONS too. This small group are in all the influential groups and are all pushing EGANS agenda (and the CEO’s agenda too of course!) They are trustees of both charities, coordinating pastors (whatever that means) Episcopal Vicars, Council of Priest’s and Chapter of Canons. Why just these few?

Like

1 . The CC are often out of their depth regarding the conditions in which charities need to operate, are prone to faddishly narrow interpretations of legal, and try to apply a one size fits all. Hence 10.40’s citing the CC may be double edged. The TPR may think clergy are charity recipients – but of which charity? Would canon law permit ordinaries to derelict part of their future duties? I see canon law gets frequently adjusted these days.
2 . Can these religious (of unknown status) afford their new rent at the other property? Do managers document their actions vis-a-vis instructions and is this documentation safe?
3 . Charity regulators can be slack about who should and could be a trustee. There should have been two non-overlapping groups of trustees.
4 . Why train new seminarians when the basis of belief and prayer were hollowed out since 1946? Will some householders lodge a priest?

Like

7:17 Don’t forget the seminary system only started after the reformation to compete with university educated Protestant ministers. Up till then the training was largely in the hands of the bishop and would be much more informal.
Even within living memory there have been priests ordained who couldn’t hear confession because they just couldn’t master moral theology.

Frankly they’d be better looking for men with sense and without personality disorders and stop pretending about the education.

Gay love is no different from any other expression of love. May not float my boat but who are we as human beings to condemn two humans loving each other. Is this how sick the RC church has become? Condemn gay clergy yet continue to support the abusers and enablers. Sometimes I think I’m listening to a comedy show when I hear these papal announcements. Deluded isn’t strong enough a word for it. By the way did the papal nuncio know about Treanor lavish lifestyle. His expensive wallpaper, fancy shutters that most of us can only dream of getting. His manicured lawns. His marble stairs. This man is a joke but not a funny one. Won’t be long before Kim il sung Treanor tries to get this blog blocked as well with some weird excuse. If you are reading this Treanor or O’Hagan or one of your cabal (and you know you are), this blog is entirely legitimate. It shines s light on your darkness and unchristian acts. We know one priest in particular who dines in the same hotel every day of the week because my wife made enquiries with staff about it. We always eavesdrop on their conversations and their language and their conversations leave a lot to be desired. Priests have a duty to remind Catholics not to receive the Eucharist in a state of serious sin and to make confession easily available, Fr Hickland said at mass on Thursday. It is still the doctrine of the Church that anyone who knows himself or herself to be in a state of serious sin which distances him from the love of God should not move forward to receive the Holy Communion simply because everybody is going,”
“He must first avail himself of the sacrament of reconciliation with God through confession.”
“But unfortunately, what we see is a general stream of people going for Communion at Mass, and it seems like they don’t really bother about whether they are in the right spiritual state to receive it.”

– The bishop spends money like water, hides behind COVID as the reason for cash flow problems and continues to pay obscene wages to his curial lay staff. To enable this he plans in the longterm to self off churches but in the short-term raid the retirement fund.
– Canon PJ Smith is out of ministry, Canon’s Cooke and flynn have girlfriends who are also Diocesan employees.
– a group of influential Canons push the Bishop’s agenda.
– part of that agenda and much of the spending revolves around the Chief Opperating Officer, Heather Hauschild.
– The COO is a bully. She has a very poor relationship with the clergy and the bishop cannot control her.
– Due to the COO’s management style not many curial staff last very long.
All of this points to a lone ranger bishop, causing harm and hurt that may never be undone. Is there nothing that can be done to help the diocese? Surely someone in authority should step in and do something? Why are they clergy not doing anything?

Speaking of the Portsmouth Diocese what is the latest on another diocesan peculiar-Farnborough- what of that itinerant cleric they had recruited Dominic Carey? Still there or has he changed his religious post nominals- again

Natlog….well sometimes he’s a parish priest in Peru https://www.facebook.com/ParroquiaDivinaMisericordiaTacna/videos/703454441489759/
And othertimes he’s a monk of F’bro…well…presumably seeings as he wears the habit….well….at F’bro he wears the habit and presumably goes by his religious name of Dom Gregory…but in Peru he’s just good ol Fr Dominic….or should that be Monsignor given the biretta he sometimes wears with a touch of reddish hue….but absolutely no safeguarding concerns you can be sure…can’t you? And all completely within canon law for sure. For sure? https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10159873352621368&set=pcb.10159873352816368

I see mention of De La Salle brothers today one of the most notorious of whom is Fr. Con Desmond of Killaloe diocese. Publically convicted and charged. Matter of public record. Further proof of how low Killaloe diocese are prepared to go!

Self identifying ‘orthodox’ Bishop Egan seems to be taking a rather Liberal view of the word ‘retirement’. The PRIESTS RETIREMENT FUND is being used to (rightly) support priests that have reached the age of retirement and also genuinely sick priests who are too unwell to work (okay, sounds reasonable) AND ALSO priests out of active ministry, such as Fr JP Lyttle, Canon PJ Smith, Fr Ray Lyons, Fr Sean Tobin and others who have been REMOVED from ministry (not so reasonable)

8.31: I was very fortunate and I in no way minimise the brutal abuse inflicted by some Brothers on pupils which have left life long scars. I have met many who were abused by others and I cannot comprehend why any religious could ever countenance abusing any child or vulnerable person. I merely speak of my education by the De la Salle Brothers. It is necessary to record and affirm the positives.

More church speak, and this one’s quite advanced.
‘It is necessary to record and affirm the positives.’
Translates, of course, as ‘to divert from the abuse’.
It is an advanced example because 9:58 may well say that he didn’t mean my translation at all. But that’s how abuse minimisation works: it gets into the whole institution and pretends to be fairness.

You’re so fast to record the supposed positives that you’ve failed to notice that the holy brothers actually failed to stop those lay teachers you saw being brutes and are thus complicit.
That’s right, just like the way they didn’t notice their brethren abusing, either.
We also mustn’t assume your narrative is the correct one, because you’re deliberately ignoring an important fact here.

I’ve lost all faith in the RCC since Francis has just appointed a bishop in the US who know was sexually active in seminary with men.
