ARCHBISHOP MC MAHON TO MEET H&N PRIESTS ON THURSDAY 9TH.

MC MAHON
ROBERT BYRNE

In the pastoral letter published on 29th January Archbishop McMahon said this:

Finally, I offer a word to my fellow priests in this Diocese. I will be meeting you all soon and look forward to listening to you and hearing from you. I know that you the priests of the diocese are suffering along with your people. But I urge you to stand up for what is right even if that may bring painful consequences.

This meeting will take place as follows:

Archbishop Malcolm McMahon would like to meet with priests on Thursday 9th February. The meeting will be held at the Mercure George Washington Hotel, Stone Cellar Road, High Usworth, Washington, NE37 1PH.

MERCURE GEORGE WASHINGTON

Lunch will be served at 12.30pm followed by the meeting at 2.00 pm until 5.00 pm (latest).

Archbishop Malcolm has offered to meet with priests on a one-to-one basis on the afternoon of Friday 10th February at St Hilda’s. If you would like to meet with Archbishop Malcolm please contact his Private Secretary, Fr John Poland, on abpsec@rcaol.org.uk or telephone him at Archbishop’s House on 0151 494 0686 to arrange a time.

PAT SAYS

One of Byrne’s biggest cock up in H&N was his total contempt for the priests of the diocese.

He ran the diocese like a bull on a China shop and thought he did not need any help, guidance, or advice from anyone.

He even ignored and trampled on vital issues like safeguarding.

For a start, he wanted to bring a convicted paedophile priest to live with him in bishops house!

I hope the priests let Archbishop Mc Mahon know the full extent of Byrne’s disastrous reign of foolishness and terror.

Very sorry to hear of the death of the wonderful Fr Michael Geoffrey Nevin in Dublin. A humble and holy pastor, fearless preacher and compassionate carer of souls. May he rest in peace.

He protected the interests of the Roman Catholic Church. That was his job and he was a faithful servant.

Unlike a lot of priests we hear about on this blog daily, this exceptional priest stayed true to his vocation. He served his people as he should. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

May Fr indeed Rest In Peace. Fr Nevin usually said the 8am morning (Low) Mass until recently in St Kevin’s church, Harrington Street. Fr Nevin was a cultured and learned preacher able to make apt literary contrasts between the great French writers or draw together the Gospel and current happenings in a clear, useful way. He indeed ‘fought the good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith.’ 2 Timothy 4:7-8

More importantly for the priests meeting with Archbishop McMahon is to be open, honest and transparent about all issues affecting the Church and priesthood and to be absolutely upfront about all challenges, morally, spiritually and pastorally. All priests and Bishops need to urgently establish a TRUTH Forum to discuss everything, especially relating to all abuse victims and survivors. We can only hope and pray for a positive, constructive new dialogue and way of renewal. I’m sure the Archbishop is aware of Bishop Byrne’s ruinous reign, so let him deal with that himself and try to renew his mission with the Catholic community and that of the priests whom he will meet.

1 . Holy Scripture says both:
i – “whatsoever is not of faith is sin”, and
ii – that there will sometimes come times when “let he who is married (including partnerships), go to bed as though he is not married”
2 . It’s up to each believer – by free and equal private conversation with believing friends – to discern what the virtue of situational chastity will look like at any time.
3 . Looking to scoreboard keepers to tick our boxes for us in adulthood never did work, though it looked like it did; now it doesn’t look like it either.
4 . Marriage was never a church sacrament; ordination never God’s, but He permits it; communion recently became much less of either until further notice due to functional (rather than overt) denial of Real Presence since about 1946. Confession without intrusion is beneficial. Common baptism for Trinitarian churches doesn’t belong to the “Eternal” City.
5 . This is the context in which each of us should intercede with Jesus that our church elders will awaken to teaching inspired truths to help everyone cope with this eschaton that began around 1,990 years ago at Ascension. And to beg His mercy on those church leaders already passed on who didn’t do well in this. II Chr 7:14 and Dan 9:3-21 apply. If you’re not good at rosaries, string together Our Fathers & Glory Be’s! The Psalter is of great value, also benedictions if you aren’t superstitious. Don’t wait till you can afford to drop pennies in the collection.
6 . Holy Scripture always was addressed more directly to the churches (with emphasis on their leaders) than to the wider public who could be helped by successful believing example. God helps those in the churches that experience our God (believe He exists) as person(s).

Such a measure should be approached with great caution. Judges (and SCs) are well paid political appointees or people benefit from state spending, people who always support measures that increase taxation on others. If such a measure passed members of the business community or professionals farmers would find the efforts of their hard work grabbed (or they would try) to feed the insatiable appetite of the HSE (if not the worst health service, certainly the most inefficient in Europe) and the rest of the state which presently concerns itself with housing and feeding foreign nationals while the homeless Irish shiver in the streets.

One reviewer, Wayne, on Tripadvisor describes the restaurant service. “This is where it all went wrong. I could not have done or put up with, what the staff had to. There was no direction from management. Beer had run out. The staff were running round in circles with a look of fear on their faces. Orders were taking ages to process, wrong orders being given to other tables. No wonder some of the staff were looking to leave the following week. I asked for a bowl of chips with a bun. What I got was 30 cold chips served in a tin cup, and was charged £4. No bun either. We did express our disappointment to a server called Amanda (I believe), she couldn’t do anymore for us.”

Who would have thought that little Bobby Byrne was a Bull in a China shop. A wicked inveterate gossip, afraid of hard work and lazy needing lots of sleep for sure but a man who ideally would stab you in the back and a screaming homosexual- what his orientation is a surprise – I’d say virtually a requirement to be a bishop these days.

Like

5:27 to describe Bishops and their cohorts as gossips trivialises the consequences on victims and survivors of their premeditated and malicious intent to destroy legitimate complainants including children and vulnerable persons. They are a dangerous criminal entity headed up by Fraudulent Frankie in the Vatican City in close proximity to the gay priest saunas and bars. It all represents a cynical mockery of God whom they use as a front to bring in the money from the sheep. Obtaining money by deception.

Bill Kenney was a Bull in a China Shop – what is it about Birmingham and rubbish auxiliaries.
A dangerous diocese – lots of bishops with Brum connections:
Byrne
Stock
Conry
Oakley
Egan
Hollis
Kevin Dunn former H&N bishop – his girlfriend went with him and was his housekeeper. Poor man didn’t last long and died in office. Very unsettling for H&N clergy.

Like

I don’t think Hollis or Egan have Brum connections. The rest, yes. But, by and large, they all have feet of clay and have things about them that hobble them. Looking more widely, there really don’t appear to be any outstanding bishops in E&W who make you think quality. Men in their 50s and 60s who should be the next leaders are very uninspiring. Look a generation or two further back, those who you would expect to be leaders in 20 years’ time, and the situation is even worse. In part because of the vocations crisis which isn’t just a crisis of numbers but also a crisis of quality, Young men for decades have opted with their feet not to offer themselves for ordination, and those who have are of dubious quality with antiquarian predilections. I don’t see anybody who is going to inspire and lead where the Church needs to go.

Let’s hope that the priests of H&N turn up and have the balls to tell it as it is / was. So many of them will be still playing the game of calculating the advantage and disadvantage to them from McMahon and incoming administration, such is the personalised, feudal, medieval nature of the relationship between priests, bishop and diocese. Put a foot wrong, say the wrong thing, and the consequences can be significant for you, with no means of redress. So, I doubt if McMahon will get the whole truth. He will get a sifted version, and significant elements will be unsaid in an attempt to protect arses. I’m sure there will be some sort of idiotic canonical threat about excommunication or something like that if anything is revealed about what is said, but I encourage clergy who are there to leak liberally so that McMahon and co know that they can’t keep this all tidy and close and do what the do best – cover up !

Yes leak liberally that’s how the truth gets out and don’t be fooled by McMahon he’s a Bull in a China Shop too and think of him ordaining Matthew Jolly and prancing around Liverpool wearing the Cappa Magna.
He’s compliant now (responding to Bishop Pat) but that’s because the spotlight is on him.
He’s exhortation to do the right thing regardless of the consequences was pathetic – as if he’s got principles or does the right thing.

Liked by 1 person

Yes, there never really was any accounting as to why Matthew Jolly was not sussed at Oscott or why McMahon ordained him. Strange. I’m sure a forensic investigation would show that there were signs of trouble with Jolly in his years at Oscott. Somebody will have suspected something. Otherwise, what are they supposed to be doing ? I guess Jolly is out of prison now. Wonder what is happening to him ?

Love the idea of the word going out about leaks on threat of excommunication (so funny) and a flurry of leaks filling us all in – such fun.
I remember Stock was paranoid about leaks when he was Gen Sec – he described the leak as a mole – like a he was a government minister FFS. He vowed to find him or her or they but never did – he wouldn’t know how – deliciously the leaks kept coming and the mole went on her merry way. So sweet.

It is good that the H&N clergy are being called together, not least to push them out of their sense of self-satisfaction and to confront them, hopefully, with the brutal truth of what has been happening in their midst, amongst their number, and quietly allowed to happen by their quiescence. Many of them will know what rottenness takes place amongst their clerical ranks, who the individuals are, what is going on. How many of them have done something about it ? How many have spoken out ? It has taken this headline issue of Bobby Byrne to bring it to the fore. Now they cannot ignore it or deny it any longer. So, maybe accepting the reality and the truth, seeing what has gone wrong and why and by whom, they can then start to ask the serious questions about how they can rebuild the diocese and the Church. And don’t for a moment, Fathers, believe that you can go back to more of the same. Please !

1036 Roman Catholic Priests submitted their results, anonymously, which showed low moral, a deep-seated distrust in their Bishops, burnout, and a fear of being falsely accused of sexual abuse.
How interesting to find the results of such a survey from Roman Catholic priests in the U.K & Ireland, I bet the result and, findings would be the same.

Are you trying to wind me up🤷‍♀️.
Friends say I’m big stickler for morality and also truth as WELL. you might ask why?
Its because I spent 15 years in institutions, which taught me lessons re morality such as right and wrong. It was that force that drove me along as I searched for the truth as to what happened to me personally. It was rcc people who were playing loose and fast rules as regards to their morality in my eyes.
For instance, Saw a CBS brother fondling a nurse in back room as I was only a teenager that time. He was then ex principal and also ex superior of Cabra school as well. It really opened my eyes cos they didn’t take Catholic morals/ethics to their heart. Its just they were playing quite loose and fast. They didn’t give a fig about it. That tells us about their moral compass per se. Byrne is one of them based on this blog re stories and comments.
I seek one thing which is the truth and honesty. There was a woman in TV drama series made in Sweden that caught my attention, sister defending her other sister by saying to a doc that celibacy isn’t her thing. At least she was honest as I like that, cos it saves time as you know where she was coming from etc.
But in rcc, honesty isn’t their biggest trait, all they do is cover, cover and COVER UP.
WHY 🤷‍♀️
