Dear Bishop Deenihan,
As you are undoubtedly aware, I have been in contact with Ms. Teresa Devlin, the CEO of the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland.
In her most recent missive she wrote: ā[a]ll church bodies in Ireland, are required to have a designated safeguarding person (DLP) and put up a notice about child safeguarding, directing anyone concerned to the statutory authorities and to the Safeguarding DLP. Both of these are in place in Silverstreamā. That was a definitive statement from Ms. Devlin.
Therefore, I am intrigued to ascertain: a) what written assurances [if any] Ms. Devlin has received from you as the Ordinary of the Diocese of Meath as to the compliance of Silverstream Priory with national safeguarding protocols, and, b) which individual(s) within the Diocese of Meath has given Ms. Devlin these assurances; thereby, enabling her to reply to my queries with unassailable authority.
I am, of course, FLATTERED, that my most recent missive highlighting the on-going safeguarding issues within Silverstream Priory led to an update on its website and to the naming of Br. Cassian Aylward as the DLP for Silverstream Priory.
It is unacceptable that it has taken ten years for the so-called monastery to āpubliclyā appoint and name a DLP. Nonetheless, I would respectfully submit that referring to Br. Aylward as āDomā may be confusing for individuals who are not familiar with the use/abuse of the title āDomā within certain Benedictine congregations. In order to avoid any confusion, I submit within the present that āDom Aylwardā needs to be referred to as āBr. Aylwardā.
However, I feel relieved that Br. Elijah Carroll with his known addiction to gay porn was not appointed the DLP. Nevertheless, this begets the following question: can the appointment of Br. Aylward be likened to putting the fox in charge of the hen house? We must not forget that Br. Aylward is a monk āformedā in the charism of Fr. Kirby. And we know that Fr. Kirby has had an innate indifference to wrong-doing going back decades. So the next question that arises: would it have been more appropriate to have appointed an outsider, who is NOT a monk of Silverstream Priory, as the DLP?
Bishop Deenihan, you do accept that the whole process of safeguarding within Silverstream Priory is an absolute sham? Do you further accept that this rushed update to the Silverstream Priory website evidences a callous indifference to safeguarding at the priory? And do you also accept that the safeguarding page of the aforementioned priory is nothing more than a tissue of lies masquerading as the truth? You will utterly reject my characterisation, however, let me give you some evidence.
On the safeguarding page of the Silverstream Priory website, we read the following:
āWe do not have any direct apostolate to children, nor any ministry outside the enclosure of the monastery. Our retreat facilities are closed to persons under 18 years of ageā.

This is demonstrably untrue, due to the past presence of Boy Scouts camping overnight on the property that constitutes Silverstream Priory (a property owned ultimately by the Diocese of Meath ā the issue of vicarious liability may arise in due course). And I have been able to establish to my complete satisfaction this was not a one-off occasion. As you may recall from my blog, this is a picture of Fr. Mark Kirby with the caption āDIRECTING SCOUTS IN THE SINGING OF THE KYRIEā, a picture taken within the monastic enclosure. Therefore it is legitimate to ask is anybody within Silverstream Priory capable of telling the truth?
Bishop Deenihan on the safeguarding page of the Silverstream Priory website we read the following nonsense: āOur community follows the Safeguarding Policy of the Diocese of Meath and have put in place a number of other guidelines for the community. The full policy and contact information can be obtained hereā.
https://www.cenacleosb.org/safeguarding
On page 8 of the PDF, we see that the DLP is: āDom Cassian Aylwardā. It is noteworthy that there is no reference to the date of his appointment and/or to his ecclesiastical status. One does not know if he is a monk in solemn vows and/or if he is a cleric, ie, a deacon or a priest. However, the ultimate revelation that safeguarding within Silverstream Priory and the wider Diocese of Meath is nothing more than a sham is eloquently and irrefutably evidenced by the signature of āFather Mark Kirby OSBā on ā26 Jul 2019ā.
Bishop Deenihan, let us unpick this a little. According to the website of Silverstream Priory, which was canonically erected by your predecessor, Bishop Michael Smith, and by virtue of your appointment ā you are the Ordinary for this religious community, we can see with our own eyes that the person with ultimate responsibility (in writing) for safeguarding within Silverstream Priory is Fr. Mark Kirby, the pseudo-Mystic, to whom Christ (purportedly) speaks to from the tabernacle.
The said same Fr. Mark Kirby OSB, the monk and priest, who was the subject of an investigation by An Garda SĆochĆ”na; who upon the completion of their investigation felt there was sufficient evidence to justify the referral of their findings to the Dublin-based Director of Public Prosecutions.
Bishop Deenihan, in the name of all that is good and holy, can you not discern the perversity of this most egregious reality?
Do you now accept this evidences a callous and blatant disregard for safeguarding within Silverstream Priory and the Diocese of Meath more generally? If not; why not?
Bishop Deenihan, let us be frank ā Silverstream Priory is a scandal. Your inexcusable negligence in this regard is making a bad situation even worse. And this rushed attempt to have a policy in place about safeguarding within Silverstream Priory is yet further evidence of this inescapable reality.
When are you going to have the moral fibre to bring this scandal to an end and petition the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and for Societies of Apostolic Life to suppress Silverstream Priory by Decree?
Bishop Deenihan, everybody is watching Silverstream Priory. The viewing figures for my blog from all over the world are off the scales every time I make reference to this shambles in your diocese. Think about that. Also, I invite you to reflect that your on-going inaction is making a bad situation even worse; because Silverstream Priory is becoming a source of ever-deepening scandal for the Church in Ireland, and your toleration of same persuasively suggests inexcusable maladministration within the Diocese of Meath; nor does it attest to competent pastoral governance on your watch.
Your brother bishop,
Pat Buckley.

Bishop Tom Deenihan is a reminder that there are none so blind or as verbal as those with their own dirt to cover and letās face it, the corrupt underbelly of the Irish Roman Catholic Church with its powerful Irish State connections protecting as we saw recently in Irish government sittings) (exclusion from payments for those who were involuntarily incarcerated in Irish church run institutions) enable it to laugh in the face of organisations such as those seeking justice for victims of the Irish Mother & Baby Homes and laundries slavery and child selling systems that much of the Irish church wealth is built on. Deflection is the name of their game to discredit legitimate victims and survivors, their families & supporters. Evil led by the collared devils in disguise. Dom Benedict Andersen has been treated abysmally by the toxic tribe headed by Bishop Deenihan and his cohorts as have victims of deviant clerics and their cohorts in other Irish Diocese.
This is a National scandal in Ireland and in the meanwhile Bishop Tom Deenihan and his brother Bishops live in the lap of luxury engaging teams of interior designers and currying favour with exclusive retailers and outfitters whilst at the same time pleading material and personnel related poverty to the church goers.
Why would any potential priest, as a well educated graduate sign up for a poorly paid, self employed role where one is locked away for years as a seminarian to the mercy of the raging homosexual culture from the top down inside Irish seminaries spending their days it seems either negotiating how not to be gang raped or submitting to whatever goes inside these awful places and becoming part of the overall problem themselves effectively carrying on the cycle of abuse and manipulation of anyone that threatens to expose the truth about the disastrous Irish Roman Catholic Church and its corrupt underbelly of influential connects in Irish society.

Bishop Tom Deenihan is the same as the rest of the Irish Bishops and their carefully selected paid and volunteering safeguarding officers, carefully selected to guarantee ānot to rock the boatā, the backgrounds of some safeguarding officers including their family and other associations to serious crime is glossed over in the selection process but comes into serious play at local level in parishes when the bishops, parish priests and their teams spring into action to cover up and discredit reporters of abuse and their families. The Roman Catholic Church and the Irish child protection organisation TUSLA are birds of the same feather as signalled by the unusual willingness of Roman Catholic Church to advertise their connections with this dismal organisation, TUSLA, that has been proven time and time again to be āunfit for purposeā much the same as the internationally recognised masterminds of all manner of abuse, corruption and blatant criminality in the Roman Catholic Church. What Bishop Tom Deenihan is doing to Dom Benedict Andersen and more significantly being enabled by Archbishop Eamon Martin and Pope Francis to do is only one example of the truth of the dark and malicious mindset of yet another Irish Bishop and his networks in church and state.

Your argument would be persuasive if it were factual.
Tusla is an organ of state. It is not accredited by any church. It doesnāt need the recognition of churches.
This is a shocking stastic. How long has this level of missing children annually been going on? How recent a phenomenon is it. It would be a valuable work of transparency to publish the statistics of children in state care going missing (1923-2023).

It is deeply concerning to note the failure of the Diocese of Meath to ensure the protection of the Scouts that Mark Kirby presided over, which in part explains the antecedents of the present day in 2023. Hence, these questions about safeguarding within the Diocese of Meath are legitimate, extremely serious, and the scandal that is Silverstream Priory needs to be brought to a prompt end.

Thereās something else wrong with their safeguarding page:
āAs contemplative monks, we observe the monastic enclosure and guests are confined to the gatehouse and Oratory. Priests, other clerical guests, and some religious may be admitted to the monastic refectory for meals.ā
Iām finding it hard to see the relevance of this bizarre policy (Iāve never stayed in a Benedictine monastery of men where male guests didnāt eat in the refectory). Are they implying that seculars have to be kept out for the safety of the monks or their own? Or are clergy less likely to notice any whoopsie moments?

Not heard of any camps recently thank God, but in the past Farnborough Abbey has entertained scouts from all over Europe….was this the Abbey you had in mind @10:36am? Despite his recent term as a parish priest in Peru, Fr Dominic Carey / Dom Gregory Carey is still listed a monk of F’bro. Whilst a member of the now suppressed Society Of St John SSJ, Carey mentioned that the superior Fr Urrutigoity, used to share his bed with boys as a means of “Bonding” with them. I wonder if Carey has promoted this practice at F’bro? (And God forbid, Peru!?) Or found it already embedded?

Shouldnāt the police be investigating these shady characters? Clearly, they are lying about not having minors around the place. If they are lying (and they are), then who are the lies for? And what is their intent when ignoring the protocols they state they abide by. Their intent cannot be good.
Children are in danger here. This should be reported to the police immediately. Remember when a child is sexually assaulted, itās usually decades before he comes forward with allegations of abuse. How many more children might be assaulted in the meantime?
Why are parents or guardians even allowing their children anywhere near Catholic clergy or religious (especially this lot), when they know the history of these men? They cannot reasonably say they didnāt know, with all the publicity there has been about priests/religious and child rape, along with its cover up by these men.
What is wrong with these parents/guardians? Are they brain dead? Donāt they care about their kids? If they did, they wouldnāt allow them within a pervy armās reach of a Catholic priest or religious.
LikeLiked by 1 person
You would think so but unless someone is reporting a crime the police aren’t interested. It’s not a crime to have kids in the monastery and it’s not a crime to lie about this.
It’s also a tricky one to be hearing God talking from the Tabernacle because the questions of religion and mental illness get involved but if the voice from the Tabernacle was a clear scam that would be a crime.
All of these things are much more moral issues than criminal ones and you would expect the holy ones to understand that if what they say about themselves is true.
It is evident that the constabulary had an interest in other things at Soda stream but these things aren’t the ones.

From the beginning the Silverstream monastery had its hidden problems. With the zealous, āmysticalā personality of Dom Kirby and insufficient monitoring of the monastery by the Diocese of Meath and lack of proper vetting and overseeing of safeguarding protocols, scandals were waiting to happen. Other such monastic groups have been suppressed by the Vatican in recent years and despite efforts by Silverstream to update policies, the potential for mismanagement and impropriety exists. I think the present community is doing its utmost to rise above the scandals of recent years. But there is an unsettling feeling among many that too much damage has been done and trust betrayed and broken. I offer my prayers that the monks will pray wisely to discern their future. Ive no doubt there are genuine vocations among the community but their monastery is tainted by Dom Kirby. Having initially found solace by my visits there thriugh solitude and prayer, itās sad to witness the present struggles and spotlight on the monks once again.
