Pat, do you agree with much commentary which explains the action of the Dalai Lama as paedophilia? It was done as a “fun thing” which apparently is acceptable in some Tibetan culture. Imagine any Bishop or cleric or any of us even holding hands with a child today? The interpretation of such an action by you or me would have us stepped aside. Strange customs in Tibet! I believe Fr. Gibbons was so professional but very calm and relaxed today and presented himself in a most likeabke way. He’s a very good priest and on the few occasions I’ve met him in Knock he’s a most welcoming and personable guy. I think your cynical jibe is unnecessary. I’m not familiar with the other priest. The video is very educational.

The reason holding a child’s hand would have you ‘stepped aside’ is the failure of your cult to deal with rampant child abuse. And you call Tibetan custom strange?

And yet some Western Roman Catholics behave like savages during the Amazon Synod at the Vatican in 2019, with little, nay, no understanding of the people’s of that region dedication to the Pachamama a fertility goddess, so little understanding or acceptance, of any other culture or belief, other than their own, it shows Catholicism in it true colours, unless you are one of us……. I think it is refreshing that after so many centuries, those people still retain their commitment, and, incorporate parts of their original religious beliefs into their form of Catholicism.
The introduction of Catholicism in many countries destroyed the beliefs and culture. Hardly admirable!

12:03pm Hi Queenie, This documentary on Lefebvre is well worth watching. He was a missionary in his earlier years and a man of profound faith. His experience was when the Truth of Catholicism was taught, the Pagans were deeply touched and many were moved to convert, which is why syncretistic moves in the church concerned him so greatly. https://youtu.be/Cf9oy7wDkms

The difference is that it’s tautology to claim rape, murder, slavery and domestic abuse are immoral. They are, by definition, intrinsically so.
However, even the church does not declare abortion to be intrinsically morally evil.
10:45 what was done to babies, children & vulnerable women in Irish mother and baby homes was far worse.
Starved
Sexually abused
Exploited as slave labour in laundries and in privately owned businesses and farms of their clerical connections in communities
Trafficked on falsified documentation to America and elsewhere to unvetted connections of Roman Catholic Church with money to pay for this fraudulent activity.
Some of us with relevant KNOW SCUM when we see it and that’s what we see and hear when the “faithful” bemoan the loss of all that cheap labour because they are in no position to fake concern “for the rights of the inborn” whilst they continue to cover up for sexual and financial exploitation by its clerical and lay hierarchy and members.
But Sleepy Joe and Nancy “make that a double” Pelosi make such play about being devout Catholics. At least other pro-abortionist CINOs such as Micheal Martin, Enda Life Kenny, Colum Eastwood and Michelle O’Neill have the integrity to not go round making that claim.

Catholics should not need a legal prohibition on a course of action which they deem immoral to abstain from it.
None of the Irish people you mention has denied they are Catholics.

You can only wonder that the Americans allowed sleepy Joe to visit Ireland with his Republican views, as it will only annoy the prods and will not help the present situation in the black North at all. He really should be in a care home as he does appear at times to not be aware of what he is saying. His mention of the Black&Tans will only have infuriated the prods as well as prancing round Knock with tricky Dicky. None of which will help The Good Friday Agreement at all. It will of course help him with the Irish vote in America, perhaps the real reason for his visit.

The Black & Tans were an evil part of the hostory of Ireland. Reconciliation and peace will not happen by ignoring and air brushing the negative elements from the past.
Anon at 10.40am
That dreaded makeshift army founded by Churchill as my late grandfather fought them back in 1920s. That makeshift army consists of criminals, thieves rapists etc.
Grandfather told us horror stories of black and tans. One story I heard was if you carried a rosary, you would be shot on the spot. Grandfather had to tell 8 years old little girl to hide her rosary from public sight.
That aroused some uncomfortable feelings in me that I didn’t expect it when I visited UK for the 1st time. I didn’t understand but it could be related to grandfather trauma, who knows 🤷♀️.
@ 10:40am
The RA were also an evil part of the history of Ireland with the shinners not much better. The Tans are long gone but not the others hence the disgrace in Derry while sleep Joe was here.
The Black ‘n’ Tans were fearless fighters. Scared the wotsit outta their enimies.
I have a lot of their memorabilia. Very proud of it, since my great-grandfather was a Blacl ‘n’ Tan.
Fr Richard’s ill advised friendship with Fr. Paul Bennett will ensure his elimination from the list of Episcopabili of the Irish Episcopal Conference.
Bennett is an unstable fellow who has hopped from place to place with no roots anywhere. He has an acerbic tongue combined with a keen intellect all fuelled by a hatred of authority. Such men are dangerous.

It sounds as if the only people you would think ought to be made bishops are those without close personal friends.
The first thought to spring to mind is whether that is projection on your part.
@ 11:41am
You shouldn’t be proud of that lot, most of them were not soldiers but criminals released to go to Ireland because most British troops were in France.
Absolute nonsense. Provide evidence for your claim that most of the so-called ‘Black and Tans’, 7000 strong, were ‘criminals released to go to Ireland’. Did you hear that, uncritically, from some drunk in an Irish pub?
The ‘Black and Tans’ was a colloquialism, from the mixture of military and police uniforms of recruits from England into the Royal Irish Constabulary. They were police officers, not former prisoners.
Many (perhaps most of these heroes) were ex-WWI veterans; among them was my great-grandfather. They gave the murdering Irish Volunteers (the so-called ‘Irish Republican Army’) a taste of their own medicine when they neutralised Thomas MacCurtain, the rabid republican Lord Mayor of Cork. What would you reasonably have expected them to do? Sit and take the increasing murders of their colleagues by the likes of Dan Breen and Sean Treacey?
The Irish Volunteers fought a dirty, ruthless, no-holds barred campaign; the Royal Irish Constabulary, along with its 7000 recruits from English war veterans (and, later, with the 1000-strong RIC Auxiliary Force) were absolutely right to respond in kind.
Gibbons’ dog Lola shares it’s pet name of an Allen Hall seminarian Lola at that time who screwed around. Clapham Common, Hampstead, Brompton, Soho etc.
Fr Paul Connell. The making of the episcopal gangster. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. An erroneous episcopal appointment that has the potential to cause three episcopal fallers. Hold on to your hats!
Retired San Diego bishop Robert Brom now deceased was accused of homosexual predation as well as covering up clerical sex abuse.
Church Militant’s Aidan O’Connor reveals Brom’s scandalous past.
San Diego’s bishop, Robert McElroy, praised Brom in a press release, calling him “a pastor, teacher and servant leader.”
But Bishop Brom is also remembered as a bishop who covered up for clerical sex abuse. Even worse, he is accused of being a “sexual predator,” even a “rapist.”
Brom was an abuser of a semibarian himself.
He also covered up sexual abuse in the two dioceses he.led as bishop.
He never suffered any real consequences.
He lived a luxurious retirement.
At his death other bishops, ignoring his abuse and cover up praised him as a great pastor and leader!
This is RCC behaviour everywhere in the world.

Aaahhh….what a lovely foursome – Paul & Richard & Lola & Millie. I’m sure they brightening up a rainy day for Joe’s visit. They warm your heart, don’t they ?! I suppose if you had to chose between the gruff, smoking, whiskey drinking, dandruff, soup (and worse !) stained clergy of the past, and a lovely coiffed and perfumed priest like Richard and Paul, then I know what I’d prefer……
Lola & Millie are such cute little dogs.
White curly terriers appear to be the current clerical fashion accessory.
Clerics are very popular customers in the chain of dog grooming shops my aunt owns.
No expense spared on treatments and accessories for their little fur babies.
Dali Lama Controversy.
Attempts to justify on this or any other platform the Dalai Lama’s sick request and action should not be tolerated.
As Christopher Longhurst said, no cultural interpretation or twisting of translated words can be allowed to conceal this disgusting interaction with a young innocent boy.
A victims and survivors peer-support network is not a place to defend the wrongdoing of religious elites or propagate abusive religious practices by using cultural or spiritual pretenses.
Attempts to justify the disgusting request and action of the Dalai Lama may trigger our members and will be removed.
Thank you for your understanding.
@8:48am
I agree, could you imagine the reaction on this blog if it was a Catholic Prelate instead of that unholy oul melt. There would have been no attempt to justify it in any way, strange that don’t you think?
‘THE clerical predator’ is, at once, a dark and dangerous sub-species of humanity, and a phrase that fits, like the proverbial glove, ALL Catholic priests, because, without exception, they all prey on people in more ways than one, usually for money.
The most morally repugnant of these predations is, of course, child abuse. Even today ‘Fraudulent Frankie’, the Unholy Father, won’t implement, throughout the Church, a zero-tolerance policy on child abuse. Is anyone surprised? If he won’t do even the goes-without-saying, moral minimum (under unprecedented public scrutiny and pressure), imagine what more he WOULDN’T have done without such accountability. Public accountability, not personal conscience, compels priests, even popes, to moral action, since these men betray conscience at ordination. Betray Christ.
As ever with this institution ‘corrupt, and riddled with corruption’, it is children last and the ‘ontologically changed’, clerical predator and ‘Christman’ first. Jesus doesn’t weep: as usual, he just buries his head in a sand of near-despair. No wonder he is planning on a second coming (probably on a third, fourth, fifth… as well).
To their credit, Tom Doyle, and those two other priests in the video, had sufficient remants of personal conscience (or, at least, the inspiring memory of such before ordination) to get out of a priesthood Christ did not institute, since his death and resurrection had obviated ALL priesthood. And they got out because Catholic priesthood, the summit of institutional Church AND its source, is ontologically corrupt beyond repair. Forming a dirty, filthy, morally perverse parody, an inversion (like the Crucifix in those satanic movies), of the assembly Jesus had wanted, and left behind.
Priests today who remain part of this institution are self-serving moral cowards and hangers-on, losers too afraid to do anything else in life, even if their institutionalised bone-idleness and their utter, practical uselessness didn’t prevent them from moving on instead of sinking, ever deeper, into a moral quagmire entirely of their making.
The most reprehensible and odious men of all today are those who, mind-bogglingly, present themselves as ordinands for Catholic priesthood, in the full and culpable knowledge of this institution’s chronic, habitual, systemic, and ineradicable corruption. They know what it isn’t, as well as what it publicly pretends to be: a divine institution, a ludicrous, demonstrable, and shameless lie.
The pope who had protected paedophile pervert and criminal, Maciel-Degoladdo (and countless numbers of other child-raping priests across the world), described priesthood as a ‘gift’. Well, these men were or are priesthood personified. And what a gift they were or are to the world, especially to children!
Of course priesthood is a gift. The Unholy Father, Benedict XVI, just wasn’t honest enough to say from where. Hell. Where else? Remember it isn’t from Jesus.
Pope Francis is referred to as, ‘His Oiliness’ and the ‘oily Latino’.
Pope Francis is a deceiver, playing the Press and the world to his liking.
His Cardinal, Archbishops, Bishops, clergy and lay wolves in sheep’s clothing follow suit in return for social and financial advantage courtesy of the multiple tentacles of the Roman Catholic Mafia where Cash is the One True God.
Fortunately, he isn’t notably intelligent, and soon trips himself up.
On one level, it’s amusing; on another, it proves that moral rottenness runs right through the institutional Roman Catholic Church, all the way to its core, the papacy.
Don’t fret, dear. One of your clerical confreres won’t be able to stop himself from kiddy fiddling, and we’ll get to hear all about it soon enough.
You can’t wait, can you?
TCM employed the paedophile sympathiser Milo Hanrahan, who was at parties where boys were molested and wouldn’t tell Joe Rogan who.
Their finances are mysterious.
Apparently its holding company St Michael’s Media garners c. 15 million yearly from unknown sources, but pays not a cent to Gary Voris, Rafe and winebox Niles.
CM basically dredged up ancient claims that was discounted years ago.
Bishop Brom was as usual unimpressive in dealing with abuse, but the evidence he himself was an abuser is wretched stuff only CM could use.
God will judge him justly. CM cannot grasp that concept. https://www.bishop-accountability.org/2022/05/retired-bishop-brom-of-san-diego-dies-at-83/
Mark at two days ago blog at 9m.48am
Played soccer every day from Mon afternoon to Thursday afternoon after classes ended 4pm back then.
Soccer played their part re injuries but there was something more to that as surgeon indicated. Hence different medical area which also requires another surgeon as well.
Yes re therapist in UK, my name is on the waiting list as they confirmed it. It might take some time as Im not expecting too much. Might be a year or two as they didn’t indicate when.
Its therapist with BSL skills (British sign language) as I’m fluent in that as well. But I am very interested in a specific area cos counselling failed or didn’t work. I realised it might be visual aspect that might work as it did work for deaf people in USA (from the book – body knows the score).
9:01 Good morning Deaf Guy.
Can you not request to be referred privately by the Public Health Service as you have been on the waiting list for an unacceptably long time?
Thanks.just be clear with you or others, hse have no dedicated mental health service to the Deaf.
In UK, they have a dedicated mental health service to the deaf as it has to be referred etc. It’s a NHS service but I am going through private route via clinical psychologist as I emailed them. It’s based in Bristol area which is handy for me to travel from rosslare to Bristol on ferry and train etc.
Just to remind you that Im not on NHS as I was couple of years ago. Hence private route but covered by NHS if agreed etc.
All I have psych report which is the starting point for future referrals such waiting list etc. Some of them were horrified when they read it. They didn’t realise how bad Cabra school was. It’s systematic wide abuses over many years covered up.
Mine was bit comprehensive story spanning from brothers to lay supervisors plus a doctor.
Deaf Guy at 10:18
That ferry is the one where for years any young woman travelling on her own was assumed (rightly) to be coming over here for an abortion, because the junta was still in charge in Ireland.
Except in the spring or autumn, when they’d be coming for teacher or nurse training.
Hello, DG.
I thought so. I also played footie.
What position? I played on the wings.
Good, re. confirmation from specialist.
How many sign languages are you fluent in, DG?
I came across a new book on trauma therapy (PTSD).
I’ll dig out details and post later.
The body knows the score ; 7-0. Lol.
Cheers, DG.
Mark at 12.39pm
I usually play at centre back, sometimes at midfield. When I got older, I played forward a lot. Didn’t have any injuries until few years ago.
Fluent in irish sign language and British sign language (easier to pick it up cos its more natural feel than Irish SL).
Just basic in international sign language and American SL which I had forgotten completely now as its only used for meetings abroad in the past (can’t use home or theirs, hence international SL).
Smattering of basic French and German languages as I could read some of it.
DG, you must be a good soccer player.
Were you a rep for Deaf Community Orgs?
Didn’t you train in finance or business studies?
I’ll dig out the book details and post later.
St Michael’s Media likely would not be getting any more mysterious Opus Dei donations. +Brom of San Diego and +Russell of Richmond were just two bishops subject to CM calumny after their died.
They alleged +Russell, a middling conservative bishop (who was worried many were receiving Communion in the hand, but not in his diocese in the 1970s) celebrated a black mass in the 50s with the then Fr Bernardin, who had the role of raping a little girl provided by a paedo father, twilight zone stuff, products of some sick mind.
Obviously the intent was to malign Cardinal Bernardin RIP who faced an allegation later found to be false, but he forgave the accuser. Fr James Martin SJ is a favourite target, but he just remarked that Voris is a troubled man
The public relations business men and women disguised as clerics and “our faithful” shamelessly “arranged” for the priest who had given last rites to President Biden late son, Beau to appear at Knock Shrine for the presidential visit.
It is noted that they rarely if ever lift their crooked fingers to help vulnerable victims and survivors of church related abuse and exploitation.
They should open a male underwear museum in Mullagh. It would probably get a grant from Bord Failte, the St Joseph’s Young Priests Society and the Diocese of Kilmore.
Despite covering up for deviant priests and their connections, in sharp contrast clergy and members work extremely hard to have victims of church related abuse discredited even going to the lengths of having victims discredited, slandered and even arrested on frivolous grounds and resulting in court cases and jail sentences.
Your reminder that the power of money and privilege of the Roman Catholic Church knows no boundaries.
Few cases where priests or lay or paid colleagues report their deviant colleagues to the authorities.
Don’t be deceived by any of these wolves in sheep’s clothing or their lay networks and cohorts in the Roman Catholic institution.
Clergy and their cohorts have no hesitancy in altering and sharing private and personal information obtained via unauthorised methods to advantage their own self interested agenda.
So Just Joe is welcomed to the Knock Shrine by its first family. And then we see a photo of two priests. Together, like.
Are you…? Are you suggesting something about these holy men and their, um, togetherness, Pat?
There is a small cohort of Anglo Irish priests, monks and seminarians who are going around posing as BBV’s – Bishop Buckley Victims.
Let me introduce these “victims” to you 🤣
“Victim” A:
After years of heavy drinking and putting it about, Victim A invites a young bobby to a meal over three bottles of wine, admires his trackie bottoms, tells him that is a regular turkey choker and porn oficionado, that the PP is away for the night and invites him to stay over. As a result the bobby is an abuser and Bishop Buckley a co-abuser.
Calling Hounslow….Calling Hounslow….
“Victim” B:
After many years as a gin slinger (Cork Dry to be exact) and Big Mac and Solero oficionado Victim B touches the hindquarter of a big straight Aussie and ends up negotiating a steep stairwell and a with a broken leg. As a result the Aussie is an abuser and Bishop Buckley a co-abuser.
“Victim” C:
After many years as a boobs, aficionado Victim C makes a parishioner pregnant on a pilgrimage. Months later he goes out to dinner with friends while the woman loses their baby, alone, in her bathroom. As a result the woman is designated his abuser and Bishop Buckley his co-abuser.
“Victim” D:
After some years as a crown jewels aficionado Victim D ends up in hospital with a broken wrist and a ripped anal canal. The doctor who stitched his canal back together is an abuser and Bishop Buckley his co-abuser.
“Victim” E:
After many years as a Lourdes aficionado Victim E goes on social media from the presbytery at midnight and shows his erect “miracles” to a young male parishioner. As result the is boy is his abuser and Bishop Buckley his co-abuser.
“Victim” F:
After many years as a Jameson and twink aficionado Victim F exclaims “Introibo ad altare Dei“(I will go on to the altar of God) and ” stabs” a well known seminarian there. And Bishop Buckley is his abuser for making the desecration known.
“Victim” G:
After many years as sex detective Victim G enters the Society of Jesus and in no time at all is accused by several young men of quizzing them about erections, wet dreams, sexual fantasies etc and finds himself installed as the incumbent of Mullagh. The young men are his abusers and Bishop Buckley his co-abuser while his patron Sean Did You Enjoy The Abuse Brady weeps in the shadows.
We could go on and on retelling the fairy tales if these poor, poor clerical victims.
They play the predator by night and pose as victims by day.
They are hard done by because they say they are God’s Holy Anointed and have undergone an ontological change.
They must not be questioned!
They must not be challenged!
They must not be held to account!
They scream: “Do as we tell you, not as we do”.
They are wolves by night and pretend victims by day.
Why was Hanrahan’s co-writer (at one time) on the same political committee as an ex pastor of I forget where? Who would want to attack Hanrahan (like Prof Dawkins for that matter)? Can the appearance of fairness in range of experience, and in job opportunities be enhanced by sharing out beanos more widely?
So many victims of Roman Catholic Church related abuse have left an empty place at the family table.
They will NOT be forgotten to suit the interests of the overprotected predators that hounded them off this earth.
Let bygones be bygones, like hell! Shout up for ffs or ship out. Survivors-victims are as much Catholic as those claiming onto-logically changed.
I pray for peace form the many duplicitous complicit clerical whingers.
“A ‘reckoning’ has still to take place in the church on the still unresolved issue of clerical sex abuse – according to a statement following the winter meeting of the Irish bishops conference at Maynooth in early December 2022. The press statement following the conference, (December 7th), quoted and endorsed a complete paragraph from the August 2022 Irish National Synthesis of conclusions of the Universal Synodal process in Ireland in 2021-22, involving all 26 Irish dioceses and other sources, including abuse survivors.“There was a palpable sense that despite many efforts by the Church, a ‘reckoning’ had not yet taken place, and the synodal process generated a clear imperative to place this issue at the heart of any Church renewal and reform. A submission noted: We must pledge ourselves to journey with survivors, to meet with them, preferably in small groups where dialogue is possible and opens us to the presence of the Spirit.” https://acireland.ie/a-reckoning-still-needed-on-abuse-irish-bishops/
There is a lot to be said about Armagh.
Corncrakes outnumber straight priests there.
And His Majesty the Archbishop couldn’t give
“two balls of roasted snow”.
Clergy and their types believe that they are better people than us ordinary folks so they highjacked Gods teachings and put themselves in charge.
Because they are selectively immature in sexual matters they prevented women from the top jobs and looked on the female in the role of Eve as the cause of all their ills!
Then they forgot that the Bible teaching “the last will be first” that is the real understanding of Gods teaching.
“Joe Biden breaks down as he meets priest who gave his son the last rites”….apparently….and no doubt all contrived by Father Richard…..even though he claimed it just happened spontaneously. Strange how he knew who had been the chaplain at the hospital when Beau died, and now just happens to have relocated to Knock. I am always suspicious when I hear twee hagiography like this…..
10:00
What is it about Pat’s blog which attracts so many begrudgers?
That was a wonderful pastoral opportunity planned by the Knock team. Everyone knows funerals provide tbe bereaved with moments of crisis. The Knock team should be proud of themselves. Well done they.
Pope Francis seems to be seriously compromised and apparently was centrally involved in a serious cover up while an Archbishop in Argentina.
He’s now a ‘lame duck’ Pope.
The irony of the ‘smell of the sheep’ metaphor is that some of the ‘Shepherds’ reek!
There’s a difference in smelling of sheep and smelling of sheep shit.
this woman hating cleric @ 10:38am is like the two faced types who was out smiling and posing for a publicity photo opportunity with President Biden in recent days.
Now on here mocking the First Lady of the United States who is the first known spouse of an American President to continue to earn her own living as a private citizen.
Ya should try it sometime Father!
Post Easter break, once the liturgies are over and the school holidays come to an end, then is the gay priests’ time for The Canaries. Nice and quiet, no pesky kids about, and they can just be themselves…. Lay down a nice foundation early on for the summer tan.
He’s a little senile is our Joe. Would probably say something stupid at the coronation, like ‘no taxes without representation!’. Besides, he’d be having his nap at that time.
The Dalai Lama – yes, it does look very strange to us, I must admit, but I think we really do need to take in all the cultural / Tibetan cultural differences and see it through that perspective ? I wonder if the Indian / Nepal / Tibetan press are so interested in it, or do they just see it as something that is not out of the ordinary ?
Because of rampant abuse, physical, sexual and psychologically, in Tibetan Buddhism involving, women/nuns and children, which echo’s many of the abuses of the Roman Catholic church and its abusive clergy.
Both religion’s priests are purported to be “celibate, and both unfortunately have unlimited access to children

The irony is that Wrightbus is one of the long list of companies, on both sides of the Irish border, that long refused to employ Catholics. That long list includes Short’s, Harland & Wolff, Mackies, Jacobs, Sirocco, Guinness, the Irish Times, Gallaher’s, the NI Civil Service, Belfast City Council, Londonderry Corporation, Belfast Gasworks, the BBC, QUB, the Ulster Museum and most Protestant-owned companies, both great and small.

No! He has left his ,what some would term “dirty” work, with the majority of the Chief Justices being as six out of nine of them are Roman Catholic, and I am sure he has not being disappointed, more than can be said for many U.S women.
Here they are, Chief Justice John Roberts
and Associate Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Sonia Sotomayor, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.

Sleepy Joe will now be having a refreshing nap after his re-election holiday in Ireland, where so many gombeens queued up to play Paddy Irishman. The likes of Fintan O’Foole, who talks up Ireland as a modern, cosmopolitan, secular and progressive state, were raging at Sleepy going to Knock and endlessly harking back to the diddlly-dee, Darby O’Gill, Mass rock version of the Auld Sod.
Is there an update on Hexham and Newcastle – they seemed keen to start an investigation but not so keen to publish the findings. Will they ever confess any guilt over the Michael McCoy scandal?

A submission noted: We must pledge ourselves to journey with survivors, to meet with them, preferably in small groups where dialogue is possible and opens us to the presence of the Spirit.”

Here they are, Chief Justice John Roberts
and Associate Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Sonia Sotomayor, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.
