DR QUENTIN VANN METER ON THE TRANSGENDER PHENOMENON.

GERMAINE GREER

PAT SAYS

I am a very, very open-minded man.

I have practically supported adults who were transitioning from one another on a number of occasions by accompanying them to hospital appointments, etc.

Trans adults have often attended Mass at The Oratory in the dress of their choice before and after surgery.

So I CANNOT be accused of being TRABSPHOBIC by anyone – except perhaps by Trans extremists.

Like Dr. Vann Meter, I have very serious problems with allowing children to identify as trans and demand treatment and surgery – even and especially by threat of suicide and self-harm.

Is society at the mercy of Trans extremists, and are we so PC we are pandering to their agenda?

Well Pat, ask American men who in response to Bud Light sponsoring a transvestite engaged in mocking women and womanhood have knocked $5 billion off the company’s share price because they don’t want to drink queer beer and tranny juice.

Have you even read the gospel of Christ? He only tells his followers to forgive if the sinner repents:
From Luke 17:
“If your brother or sister[a] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.
And from Matthew 18:
15 “If your brother or sister[b] sins,[c] go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’[d] 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church;
Your gospel is not that of Christ.

If a grown adult wishes to transition then that is their choice; If a trans person wishes to be called he or she-him her- then I think that’s perfectly fine. Why not?
If I saw a man who had become a woman in the queue at the supermarket I would have no hesitation, whatsoever, in addressing them as ‘luv’ or ‘sweetheart’. If it was an older person I would probably address them as ‘my lovely’, just as I would an old lady – or any acquainted gay person.
What about the friendly nicknames seminarians and clergy have for one another?
However, from a scientific and biological perspective I can never be a woman; by my very essence I am a man.
My biological make-up is that of a male. If I were to deny this empirical fact I would be denying myself as well as empirical science.
However, I would never be so be rude as to bring about a factual-biological discussion on the subject while talking, at table or even having a drink and a takeaway with a transitioned man or woman who happened to be my friend or a member of my family.
Just as I wouldn’t expect them to want me to deny scientific fact – whether that be evolution, Ohm’s Law / Kirchoff’s Current Law (KCL).
Denying facts can, in some circumstances, have real negative consequences: If I were to tell somebody that a security electric perimeter-fence was disarmed – when in fact I knew this not to be the case – I could find myself in serious trouble. And that’s to say nothing for the poor bugger who touched the fence!
IT’S OK; REST ASSURED…..
Electric fences are just one element of electronic security – mainly used on Critical National Infrastructure, mind.
The National Protective Security Authority & the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure define national Infrastructure as follows.
”National Infrastructure are those facilities, systems, sites, information, people, networks and processes, necessary for a country to function and upon which daily life depends. It also includes some functions, sites and organisations which are not critical to the maintenance of essential services, but which need protection due to the potential danger to the public (civil nuclear and chemical sites for example).”
There are always good people in the background keeping us all safe, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

A common theme is the local priest coming to the family home and personally taking the child and driving them personally to the Magdalen laundry.
Another theme is the theme of school-age victims not being allowed to continue their education but being used as slave labour by the nuns in the laundries from early morning to late evening.
One of the women is known to have escaped and hid among the Irish Travellers who were very good to her.
Shame on the priests who kidnapped these children from their homes.
Shame on the nuns who enslaved and tortured them.

It’s remarkable that with all your apportioning blame in your statement, you omitted to mention the fact that, the parents of the unfortunate pregnant girl was also willing participants in banishing their daughters to the Laundries. They had no where else to go, if their parents refused to have them stay in their home.
What about the Irish irresponsible “men” who were/are the Father’s of the children? (Given some pregnancies were incestuous, or rape.)
They seem to get off scot-free, no one pointing the finger at them, ridiculing them or, shaming them either.
Irish parents were very cruel and unforgiving, in many cases the girls had no option but to give their child up for adoption because, their parents would not allow them back in the family home with their “bastard” child, which happened to a friend of mine, possibly, especially as the child had a Protestant father.

What you say about Irish parents and their pregnant daughters is true. But how did these parents come by such merciless, unforgiving, unloving judgementalism? What, or who, made them think and react in these inhuman ways? Society? But, then, what, or who, morally informed Society? Wasn’t it, in Ireland especially, the Roman Catholic Church? Priests?
When my own sister became pregnant as an unmarried teenager, I have a very clear memory of my father’s reaction when he was told. My sister was sobbing in the kitchen, not knowing how he was going to react. My father got down on his knees and opened his arms to my sister. There was no Old Testamental judgementalism; no finger-jabbing, angry reproaches. There was just bald compassion, love, and care.
Did I mention that my father was English and a Church of England convert to Roman Catholicism? I’m grateful that he wasn’t Irish, and cradle-Catholic.

I see also a thing of focussing all blame on the religious brothers and nuns when they were usually a sort of cheap labour overseeing near slave labour inherited from Britain which the political class (whose close descendants are either in politics or otherwise wealthy), basically an authoritarian system for the poorest to which most people voiced no dissent. It would do no harm to name those parents who consigned their daughters to those homes rather than help them move to England (this happens a good deal) or Dublin, where ironically, the +McQuaid founded and funded London Irish Centre provided fairly neutral and efficient services regarding housing which our pompous native hypocrites disregarded in favour in of their Victorian institutions. If there was an effort to name those unloving parents, their family raise a hue and cry. People in this country are expert at blaming others.
Also Catherine Corless, the Tuam historian, seems indifferent to the evidence before her, treating records of children who failed to medically thrive as evidence the nuns starved them. I see also a degree of misogyny in the focus on nuns. This not to say that the Bon Secours home in Tuam was anyway suitable, but ultimately the way these homes worked was because the political class and the people who voted for them either didn’t care too much or approved of it.

Put the blame where it belongs, their families not the clergy or the Orders who were landed with them.

That’s all people like you want is money and to slag off The Church, The paltry sums the Government paid did not cover the cost of keeping those unfortunate girls, hence they were expected to work. The cost of maintaining the home, utility, medical bills etc. far exceeded any money they got. The families never paid a penny just dumped the girls with the Sisters and expected them to get on with it. As regards the illegitimate baby’s the family wanted nothing to do with them. The girls couldn’t keep them so the Sisters had to ensure they were adopted to a Catholic family, not sold as you say.

The original sin of abuse was and is allowed to flourish by the Roman Catholic institution, but even when called out the institution did not / does not ask itself the fundamental systemic questions about why and how, and even more importantly what to do to ensure that there is healing and this never happens again.
The initial response is and was to minimise, to deny, and then to cover up, thus leaving unchallenged and unchanged the underpinning theology, thinking, mindset and structures that were the foundations and framework on which abuse and clerical dysfunction flourished.
We are still at the stage. All we hear are the occasional meaningless lip service not backed up with appropriate action.

1. I’m surprised that you would platform Van Meter on LGBT issues. He opposes marriage equality for same-sex couples; and opposes adoption rights for gays too. He also supports and practises so-called “conversion therapy”. He resigned from his official professional body (the American Academy of Pediatrics) and set up his tiny, oppositional group (the American College of Pediatricians) in order to continue to offer conversion therapy.
2. The same arguments used to prevent trans young people embracing their identity were used against gay young people. Van Meter still makes those arguments to prevent gay young people being supported. As with trans youth, he wants gay young people to be given therapy to change them.
3. You use the term “trans extremist”. Again, those who supported basic rights for gay people have been called “gay ectremists” or proponents of an extremist “gay agenda”. It is not extreme to support a trans person who simply wants their gender identity to be respected.
4. Surgical interventions are not offered to children under 18. Reversible hormone therapy is sometimes provided — this merely delays puberty. If a young person later decides to cease that medical regime, puberty activates.
I respect the work you’ve done for LBGT rights over the years. Can I plead with you to inform yourself about some of the people you are platforming here and to explore these issues more carefully.
As a start, can I recommend the book “The Transgender Issue” by Shon Faye. You may decide, in the end, that you do not wish to vary your stance, but please, at least, consider the arguments in this work as you make up your mind.
Many thanks.

Pat, the NHS website says the long term effects aren’t known.
I’m a health professional and would guess that given you have to keep on taking hormones if you stop taking them, since the body always goes for homeostasis your hormones will rebalance and you will get the puberty you would anyway.
The anti trans crowd always fail to understand that the endocrine system is very complex and we all have a shifting balance of male and female hormones throughout our lives anyway. They think puberty is set at a particular time but it’s not that unusual for it to have to be induced hormonally anyway if it doesn’t happen on its own. I knew a guy who hadn’t hit puberty in his early twenties and so his voice broke when he was 23.

Author Christine Kennealy calls for names of nuns credibly accessed to be published. No response from diocese.says:

Now that Lent and Easter are over, Vermont Catholic Bishop Christopher Coyne needs to begin a new mission.
In August 2019, Coyne released an incomplete list of Vermont clergy credibly accused of child abuse.
Curiously, the Diocese of Burlington has never released a list of nuns who were credibly accused of abuse. As a survivor of St. Joseph’s Orphanage, I know that abusive nuns existed.
Nuns participated in physical, sexual and emotional abuse of orphanage children. This is well documented, including in a report by former Vermont Attorney General TJ Donovan.
While in Burlington recently, Christine Kenneally, author of the just released book ”Ghosts of the Orphanage” and the 2018 Buzzfeed article on abuse at St. Joseph’s Orphanage, revealed that she had asked the local diocese why there was no list of credibly accused nuns. The diocese never responded.
Why? Kenneally asked a legitimate question. Meanwhile, her book has brought new attention to abuse by Catholic clergy and is well worth reading.
The wall of silence about abuse is part of the diocese playbook. Coyne is always happy to walk across the street from his office on Joy Drive in South Burlington to the WCAX studio on the same street to be interviewed about religious holidays and faith issues.
Too often, when asked about abuse in the diocese, Coyne releases canned statements likely written by his overpaid attorneys, or doesn’t respond at all. Why is he allowed to get away with this?
Given Coyne’s lack of cooperation when the going is tough, the Vermont press should look elsewhere for comments on religious issues that are easier to discuss. For instance, Vermont is home to the Rt. Rev. Shannon MacVean-Brown, the first African American Vermont Episcopal Bishop. She could offer a different perspective based on her background as a woman of color that would be interesting to Vermonters. Diversity matters.
For now, I ask Vermont reporters to aggressively question Coyne about nuns being left off the list of credibly accused clergy, and not accept prepared statements by lawyers who control Coyne’s every comment. Don’t let Coyne get away with nonanswers.
The press might ask Coyne how much the diocese has paid its attorneys since clergy child abuse in Vermont was exposed by Sam Hemingway of the Burlington Free Press in the 1990s. Coyne — or, as I call him, “COIN the Moneyman,” because he just loves money — likes to cry poverty about the diocese’s finances. Yet he continues to pay lawyers big bucks. And he gave $50,000 to the 2022 campaign against Proposal 5 (Vermont’s new constitutional amendment).
The Vatican has money, too. $1 billion will be spent to restore the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, while the church refuses to help victims it hurt.
Here’s what Coyne had to say Feb. 22 on WCAX at the beginning of Lent:
“The season of Lent gives me and all others an opportunity to kind of reflect upon the positive things in my life, but also the things that need to change, the things I need to let go of, the things that are getting in the way of my being as good and as kind and as charitable and holding a person as I can be.”
COIN the moneyman, if you believe Lent is about more than giving up cheeseburgers on Friday, help clergy abuse victims. Change the hypocrisy in the church. Stop running for archbishop. Speak out for all hurt by abuse and the subsequent cover-up. Challenge Pope Francis and the College of Cardinals.
Many victims just want the church to pay for counseling while being allowed to choose their own mental health counselor. You won’t allow that. Why do you want to send victims to church counselors who couldn’t help pedophile priests? Abuse victims need to be empowered, not controlled. Most do not trust church counselors.
You know why there are empty pews and closing churches. It’s abuse and hypocrisy. People don’t like it.
Bishop Coyne, you can lead the effort to help abuse victims or be remembered as another Catholic leader who failed church abuse victims. You control your legacy. Don’t end up like your late friend and boss, Cardinal Bernard Law, who is despised for his handling of clergy abuse in Boston.
I encourage clergy abuse victims to contact their local police department and consult an attorney. The last thing anyone should do is contact the Catholic diocese in hopes that it will help. It won’t.

TIME TO BAN SOCIAL MEDIA FOR u16’s : if your a parent to an under 16 you must take Action
Three children died in two separate vehicular incidents over the Easter weekend. A 15-year-old boy was killed in a quad bike accident in Co Laois on Easter Sunday, and early on the Bank Holiday Monday a boy and a girl, both 14, died in a car that struck a tree in Co Galway.
social media has decayed our basic instinct of compassion, so much so that the principal in the Galway children’s school had to ask parents to remove their youngsters’ smartphones. Such was the volume of “conjecture” and “downright lies” online that Orla Jackson, the acting head of Presentation College Headford, feared reading such material would be “terribly detrimental” to her pupils’ mental health.
Across the country, however, parents may have already been considering such a step, given so far unsubstantiated speculation that an online dare might have been a factor in the deaths. Gardai are said to be examining mobile phones found at the scene to establish whether there was any video content or messages sent that might shed some light on the tragedy.
Despite the deaths of several young people, including in this country, during the wretched “neknomination” craze a few years ago, the proliferation of online challenges shows no sign of abating. They range from the relatively harmless and silly, such as the ice bucket challenge, to the downright dangerous. During the pandemic, for example, one challenge required participants to lick door handles and public toilet seats. The gallon challenge involves drinking a gallon of liquid within an hour, putting huge pressure on internal organs; while the nutmeg challenge, calling for people to consume large quantities of the spice, can cause hallucinations and unconsciousness. Then there’s the blackout challenge on TikTok, where kids choke themselves with ligatures until they faint; the Benadryl challenge, to drink the medication; and the penny challenge, to push a coin onto the prongs of a partially dislodged plug. And some challenges, according to reports, also promote reckless driving; one involves the participants swerving their vehicle to the rhythm of a song.
At teachers’ conferences last week, delegates reported another toxic online phenomenon. Graphic sexualised images of teachers, with their faces digitally added to pornographic scenes and videos, have recently started appearing on digital forums. While parents are implicated in some online harassment, there seems little doubt among teachers that this material is the work of their teenage pupils, casually navigating hardcore porn sites for the most demeaning images to humiliate them. Some have made formal complaints, which means more parents may be getting a garda visit they hadn’t expected.
These platforms are primarily responsible for the fact that parenting today is harder, and being a teenager is more hazardous, than ever before. You cannot close your child’s bedroom door and be confident that they are safe for the night — safe from bullies, safe from damaging social contagion, safe from stupid challenges, safe from harrowing imagery, safe from sneaky siren whisperers dripping poison in their ears and telling them it’ll be fine, everybody’s doing it, nobody’s going to know, you don’t want to be the odd one out. And if Meta, Twitter and TikTok have their way, nobody is going to know — until there’s a knock on the door.

4.49. An excellent post. I know from a very tragic occurence that the online material downloaded and websites visited were a major contributory factor in the evil deed committed. Parents need to be more vigilant about the content their children have access to. Teachers do their utmost to instil values of self esteem and respect in their pupils but the easy availability of horrendous, dangerous material is frightening. Pornography is easily available and the degradation of sexuality is applauded by a liberal elite, – “we should have what we want” – brigade who are far too voiceforous to the mental, emotional and psychological well being of young, vulnerable children. Adults are often accomplices in the destruction of the innocence of their children, in some cases allowing their 3 year olds attend gender ideology classes. Look at the USA. Experimenting with young children is an horrendous abuse in every way. I watched a video of trans people reread the BIBLE stories to children in non Catholic spiritual settings, mostly 3/4/5 year olds, while their parents clapped…Such a moral aberration.

We are calling on bishops and congregational leaders to: 1) Publish the names of their predators, including all redacted names, and the names of accused priests and religious brothers and sisters, and the status of any investigations into those accusations; 2) Provide the full assignment history of each predator and accused, and the last-known status.
We are also demanding that church leaders stop perverting the calls for mandatory reporting by requesting exemptions to protect legal, confessional, and therapeutic privilege.
We ask also calling on all people of goodwill to support these calls and hold church leaders to account.

But I actually believe trauma prevents authentic maturity of a human being.
Or perhaps the word should be postponed.
The deepest self withdraws and we are left with a person who seems to develop but indeed cannot.
In my case aged nearly 60 the trauma concealed and ignored finally demands attention and then there is a chance maturity may commence as the truth takes hold and the real self learns adaptation to the horror called life.
And amongst the horror find beauty joy and love with a bit of luck

The Catholic High School of Baltimore’s auditorium will no longer be named after Sister Francis Marie Yocum, after allegations against her were included in the Maryland Attorney General’s 456-page report detailing decades of child sexual abuse within the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Yocum was a longtime music teacher at the school and led the glee club and a cappella choir, according to the report. She also wrote the school’s song.

The report includes a 2012 allegation from a 75-year-old victim who said Yocum, a nun from the Sisters of Saint Francis of Philadelphia, sexually abused her in 1954 when she was 16 or 17 years old while she was receiving private voice lessons. The abuse took place over the course of a year, the report said. Yocum allegedly treated the victim as a “pet” and was jealous of friends and boyfriends of the victim.

A dozen sexually abusive priests served at St. Mark’s. It may not be a coincidence.

A dozen sexually abusive priests served at St. Mark’s. It may not be a coincidence.

Yocum was not listed on any credibly accused lists.

A statement posted on the school’s Facebook page said “while the school continues to look into the matter, Catholic High’s auditorium will no longer be named after Sr. Francis Marie Yocum.”

The statement noted that the school is committed to the protection and the accountability of those credibly accused of abuse. The school also urged anyone who wants to report abuse to call law enforcement, and if the alleged abuse involves an employee of theirs, to report it to the school at 410-732-7429.

The Attorney General’s report, released last week, shed new light on years of abuse and cover-up, compounding the list of accused priests and other clergy released by the Archdiocese in 2002.

New details, for example, surfaced about Father Anthony Joseph Maskell, who engaged in several years’ worth of sex abuse and physical harm of children starting in the late 1960s. His abuses appear in the Netflix documentary series “The Keepers.”

Abusive priests also cycled through different parishes at a rate more common than others. St. Mark had more abusive priests assigned to it over the years than any other — 12 between 1964 and 2000.

I would generally regard myself as pretty unreconstructed in many of the culture wars issues and matters that exercise the mind of modern society, as well as Church. However, on the issue of transgender, my otherwise antediluvian views have been impacted by personal experience. A few years ago I worked with a man to woman transexual and was incredibly impressed by her and what she had been able to do, and her professionalism and ability. It was a joy to work with her. We did not talk at any length about his experience, but I understood what she had done and how she had done it, and how she had been largely supported by the organisation in which we both worked. I was immensely impressed with her courage, bravery, determination, grit. Another experience I had was at a university recently when I went in to the university bookshop and there was a man/ woman working there, who had a beard, but wore a dress. My initial reaction was the unreconstructed one (what the….!!!) but on reflection I realised the courage and determination that person must have had. These experiences, and some others, have led me to observe that someone who is brave and determined enough to go through a very painful and difficult transition must really be convinced that is the gender they wish to be, the gender they consider themselves to be. I admire that. Yes, I recognise that in the nitty gritty of this issue there must be guidelines / guardrails to protect the vulnerable and impressionable, and to ensure mature and clear decision making, as well as to protect the rights of those who want to make these directions. But, in general, the decision to live / be a particular gender is the responsibility and right of the individual concerned. We/ society should be able to facilitate, protect, and celebrate such decisions. I should not be able to get in the way of that and frustrate it. As for other issues, I remain, I fear, unreconstructed….. !!

I can see there would be good reasons to wear a dress. Because of being immune compromised I continue to wear a mask anyway but part of the motivation would be the same as wearing a dress: it detects dickheads for you so you don’t have to deal with them.
For the same reason again all my social media profiles have frames saying I’m vacxed.

I find it very strange that the Church’s take on transgender issues is represented by men who wear dresses ! Imagine, some coiffed Monsignor in an immaculate soutane / cassock sitting in a Vatican office making decisions about transgender people. What irony !

This transgender issue seems to create more problems than solve them.
A few simple questions need to be asked and answered.
1) How many individuals want reverting back to what they were? What a waste of medical resources.
2) How many criminals? Female prisoners do not want them and vice versa. A notorious Scottish rapist who transformed is a prime example. Where do we put them?
3) Why is this being taught in schools without parental authority?
4) Why is so much abuse hurled at Lesbians, Feminists and others who disagree with trannies?
5) Why should the majority be expected to drop everything and be subjected to these demands? There are more important things in this world like: Ukraine, Cost of Living, Poverty to name but a few.
Let’s get real and get our priorities right.

You can Google Birmingham archdiocese’s website and view both the video and the hundreds of pictures of the Chrism Mass….and I can’t spot Canon John Gilbert anywhere! He’s retired and loving in Stoke, but he’s still the official secretary of the Johnson Fund (the independent fund for retired/sick priests) which is administered by Canon Paul Fitzpatrick of Episcopal Vicar fame.

Rumour is that Canon John Gilbert, MIA of Birmingham, is making reappearances. Spotted at the Chrism Mass in the congregation. Is this a precursor to a quiet re-insertion in to ministry after a time away. Some say it was a woman, eeehhhmmmm !? That’s usually the MO of clerics / church / bishops / VGs. Wasn’t that what the Rory saying Mass stuff was about a few weeks ago ? Will they never learn that we know what their tricks are and we cannot be hoodwinked anymore ? Well, I suppose if Gilbert has taken the medicine and undergone the treatment, then there is a way back. But, he better behave himself. People will be watching. Once fooled, twice shy…. and all that !

As we know, nothing is that simple or straightforward or as it is presented when it comes to the clergy. It’s always best to keep an enquiring, questioning and critical mind when it comes to dealing with and thinking about clergy and what they are up to.

You say “Rumour is that”…… so what if Canon Gilbert is making, as you say, “reappearances”. There is no reason why he should not be back, no more than any other religious who are on sabbatical or church leave. If, after they have confessed to their wrongdoing, have had the necessary counselling, retreats, then why, after a period of repentance, should they not be welcomed back into their church. God has forgiven them of their sins so why should anyone deny them a return to their priestly ministry.
Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Amen.

There are genuine cases SOME of whom should have different surgery and meds than is being imposed or none, or later. Parties unknown are indiscriminately strewing one word “trans” with several meanings which doesn’t help genuine cases. The real culprit following the lessening of prayer, is JP II who made public obsessing over children’s and adults’ private parts compulsory, and also caused hate against anyone humane trying to lessen indiscriminate over-industrialising of abortion levels in the r*pe epidemic induced by KOB’s friends while insisting on kindliness in hard cases.
The self styled “gay authorities” make “being gay” in any of five meanings so morallly unrespectable that they are stampeding children who might be better calling themselves variously “asexual”, or “queer” (in the good, new meaning) into excesses of damaging alterations. As for Mr Enoch he should call such a child “they” but I don’t know if it was a big child being induced to maliciously interfere in some wrong toilets or not. A name is just a name but teachers should go with the parents’ name for them most of the time.
At (boys’) school we had boys with more differences than the rest of us, I think that to afford them cover it has to be tactful and without all this public talk about their privates, and without damaging others. I also knew of a man with another difference, drafted into the clergy by church authorities, who was placed under great shame by those authorities.
It would be good if some of us could be helped to relate without worrying whether someone wants us to get genital with them or not, because since Savile days (the days of KOB friends) they daren’t say. Look at Highgate School and Winchester College. “Marriage preparation” and training teens about singlehood used to be very genital, in the 1980s.
It’s noticeable that the trade mentioned in the film is very lucrative for a commercial lobby. Kindly people should be teaching children as young as 4 to resist leading questions about their tastes and emotions. The self styled “gay authorities” with their identical mammalian (livestock) moralising to JP II’s are the ones that are whipping up the hate for the genuine gays. Because the blame-deflecting black-and-white thinking JP II brigade and their identical “gay authorities” lookalikes have made it not only complicated but sacred, it is very deceptive all round.

Lord above Pat, you have brought up a very contentious issue to your blog today, we may all have opinion on the subject of transgenderism, but, how many of us know someone who either wants to transition, or has done so. It would be very unfair to comment without due knowledge of the neurological impact on the overwhelming desire to change gender.
Body dysmorphia comes to mind. so many conditions we know very little about, but they exist, Intersex, non binary, Turner’s syndrome, and some might even say homosexuality.
It is an enormous decision, from so many points of view, the impact on physical health, psychological health, and being accepted is probably one of the hardest to overcome.
Even at 18 years old having trans gender surgery, is a huge choice to make, sadly some regret it. I would say delay surgery for as long as possible, I am sure for some that would be very difficult.
Just one issue that has caused enormous controversy, athletes who transition to female gender competing with biological females. That’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Edit this of you feel the need to but please post it.
I am one of those woman with a penis. I identify as a woman and like to use my penis to have great sex with my girlfriends. Yes, you guessed it, I also identify as lesbian. It makes me very angry when lesbians without penises tell me that they aren’t interested in my woman’s penis. This is a form of sexual racism and all those nasty cis women just need to wake up and get with the flow. ( No pun intended)
The above is just some of the nonsense SOME trans activists use. And if anyone DARES question or challenge them that, they’ll be reporting the commenter and this blog, and other blogs, for hate speech. This is typically how militant trans activists try to shut down the debate.
Us women need more women like Alex Drummond. ( google her)
*********
Back to reality – For the record, I like men and women like Alex Drummond. They queer the pitch, so to speak and that’s what the world needs – men and women who can queer the gender norms. However, they can’t play silly games with the language or the science. Gender is one thing and it’s mutable and socially conditioned. Sex is not – it is binary. You are either male or female. Yes there are people who are intersex or who have varying chromosomal abnormalities but this is just an example of nature getting messed up, not unlike people being born as conjoined twin or with extra digits, are infertile etc – This does not make them less human. They will though, generally fall into a gender binary.
I am a man. A gay man as it happens. I like my men to have a penis and just can’t get it on with a a man with a vagina no matter how much they try to convince me that I’m missing out or how many times they call me a transphobe.
What really annoys me about the sex culture war is that the extremist trans lobby are having a negative impact on gay men and lesbians, more particularly on lesbians.

Well, I guess if you are / have been a priest / ordained you are technically always a priest and there is some kind of invisible draw back to the Chrism Mass and the priestly brotherhood affirmation stuff that goes on. I suspect with all these MIAs there are safeguarding considerations whether its kids, men, women, animals, porn, whatever, and in this day and age it is very difficult to come back from that. Otherwise Nursey would have them running half a dozen parishes if they could still walk and talk at the same time. So, maybe all he has to cling on to is appearing at the Chrism Mass and still wanting to be part of the whole clergy thing / specialness / set apart / ontological change nonsense. You’d think that they would get the message and just go off and make a new life for themselves, wouldn’t you rather than stalking clergy gatherings ? My constant advice to all these MIA’s / in trouble types / living double lives characters / lying and untrustworthy buggers, including the ones we hear about regularly in this blog, is get a life and go plough a new furrow somewhere. You’s be so much better off. Happier probably, too.

Your first sentence says it all – …..have been a priest, ordained a priest, always a priest. I certainly would love to see any clergy who are on sabbatical or leave of absence because of wrongdoings, being allowed to return to the priesthood or religious life, after their period of reflection and going through various forms of counselling. We need all the priests we can get so I say, give all our priests who have fallen and who are human, a chance to prove their worth and return them to the fold.

Good advice – Gilbert isn’t coming back, neuter are most of Brums missing in action.
The worlds changed and they are serious liability- Gilbert bitched and gossiped incessantly when he had the collar and was unhappy priest unless he was top dog.
He’s retired and agreed do something else move on.
Check out Brum Chrism Mass – the vast majority seriously, dangerously overweight and morbidly obese and not a smile among them.
Bishop Wright looks like he’s going to the firing squad and message from Brum clergy is unhappiness and early deaths.

But….do we know why Gilbert has had to retire ? All very quiet. If he’s reappearing in public, he’s inviting the question to be asked why he is not up on the altar. He has a foul temper. Could be he lost that once too often. One suggestion, bit unlikely I think, is that he had an affair with a woman. Or a man. Or some kind of safeguarding issue. The first three are redeemable with a bit of retraining / courses / psychotherapy / the usual Canadian or US sabbatical. The latter would probably mean his days in ministry are definitely numbered. The safeguarding transgression doesn’t even need to be heavy to get you in to serious trouble these days. Yes, yes…I know safeguarding is important, but use a bit of nuance, please…. ! Anyhow, he probably isn’t returning. Just sniffing over old territory and pissing on it so that he’s not forgotten. I wish him well in whatever new life he is creating for himself. It could be the making of him. It very often is. JPL, Rory, Bareback Rider, please note… ! There is life after priesting and living a lie.

The relationship with the married woman Dr Anna Tymieniecka is well known, but this claim from a brother of girl who went missing 40 years ago is interesting. I would see Pope Francis’ denial as plausible for if JP2 visited floozies regularly, one or more would’ve said something.
