Abbot Richard “Rawhide” Purcell is very well liked and continues to be supported by several members of the Irish clerical hierarchy. Similar support is also dispensed to several other clerical and lay unsavoury types and more serious level abusers within their circles.

Priests do not have the right to hide their behaviour or identity in ways that deceive people about who they are.says:

Regarding priests on Grindr and Tinder, while at least they’re not out raping children and sexually assaulting vulnerable people, isn’t this breach of professional standards also creating unsafe spaces for us all to the extent that any claim to their privacy in this regard doesn’t apply.
What do you think about the question below: Do priests have a right to privacy?
To me, this is not the right question. The question should be, does the public have a right to know that priests are not faithful to their public promise of celibacy — understood as not engaging in sex with other people, especially in ways that overtly contradict the spirit of their promise. A milder way of saying this would be, does the public have a right to know that the priest is unfaithful.
Because the priest’s office is a public one, to me the maintenance of the priest’s privacy in this regard would be inappropriate. To me it seems the public has the right to this knowledge in a responsible and respectful way to safeguard them against the crossings of other professional boundaries by these priests. Otherwise, the hiding of the unfaithfulness is dishonesty and hypocrisy which creates an unsafe situation for us all. The ongoing exposure of widespread sexual dysfunction among Catholic clergy has helped create safer communities, no?
Further, those people who shame others for using sex hook-up apps like Grindr and Tinder, yet they use them themselves, should be called out, no?
Further, I don’t this topic should be a conservative/progressive Catholic debate. It is a question of safety and honesty in the community. If bishops had any credibility, they would simply remove priests from the priesthood for such infidelity, at least when it is the norm which it usually is. After all, aren’t they “married” to the Church? When bishops don’t act, then they are also to blame in my view.
Theologically, the Church’s recognition of the right to privacy for sinners is for the sins of private people. Priests are not private people. They have a right to the privacy of their personal information, but not to the right to hide their behaviour or identity in ways that deceive people about who they are.
Finally, aren’t attempts to separate the priest’s actions from the priest just a distinction without a difference, wordplay that doesn’t really fool anyone except try to excuse such shameful hypocrisy.

Judge who consistently rules in favour of Archdiocese of New Orleans fails to disclose that he is a major donor to the Archdiocese.says:

The Associated Press has uncovered more details in the quagmire that is the preemptive bankruptcy filing by the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Once again, the Archdiocese has exerted concerted and consistent efforts to keep their history of clergy abuse and cover-up hidden from the public eye.
The latest twist in this case is that the judge who, according to the AP, “has consistently ruled in favor of the church” in the bankruptcy case, also appears to have chosen not to disclose the fact that he is a major donor to the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Judge Greg Guidry claims that he did not know he was donating tens of thousands of dollars annually to the Archdiocese, a statement that is at best difficult to believe. Following the widespread publication of his clear and obvious conflict of interest, the judge has now signaled that he mayrecuse himself from the case.
Recusal is the minimum that should happen. Any decision that Judge Guidry has made up to this point is now impossible to view as impartial, given the judge’s clearly close ties with one of the sides in the case he has been presiding over for months. It is notable that Judge Guidry donated more than $36,000 after the Archdiocese declared bankruptcy. It is difficult, if not impossible, to reconcile those donations with any notion of impartiality, given that the judge is making decisions over how at least some of those donations will be applied. We believe that Judge Guidry should recuse himself not only from this case, but from any case going forward that has even the slightest tie to the Catholic Church.
Ultimately, what is most enraging about this situation is that there are 500 survivors of clergy abuse whose fate and future is being decided by a court system that apparently is tied very deeply and closely to the institution that caused those 500 innocent victims grievous harm. It is unconscionable that, as these survivors wait in limbo to see what becomes of their attempt to seek accountability and justice, their stories and histories will be weighed by a judge who is deeply and personally devoted to the institution that covered up the crimes committed against them. These survivors deserve a fair and honest shot at justice. What they are receiving in New Orleans is far, far from it.

Reply to; US judge who ruled in favor of church in key sex abuse case donated to archdiocese
Despite Guidry donated nearly $50,000 to the Roman Catholic New Orleans Archdiocese, which he claim he “didn’t” know about it, he declared on the 22 April, he will not recuse from the bankruptcy case.
Which is very bad news for the sexually abused victims of Roman Catholic cleric’s in New Orleans.
Apparently in every case where he was Judge and where the Roman Catholic church was involved he has ALWAYS ruled in favour of his Roman Catholic church.
How dos he get away with it?

Tennessee hospital’s website drops name of former Maine priest working there as a chaplain
Anthony Cipolle, who has been a resident chaplain at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, was removed from the program’s website this week after the Press Herald reported on a woman’s allegation that he coerced her into a sexual relationship.
Anthony Cipolle was removed from the priesthood in Maine three years ago and has recently been working as a resident chaplain at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center has removed the name of a resident chaplain from its website after the Portland Press Herald published a story about the former Maine priest.
The story focused on a woman who sought Anthony Cipolle’s help when he was a priest, and who says he took advantage of her vulnerability, abused her trust and coerced her into a sexual relationship.
It was not clear Wednesday whether Cipolle still works for the medical center. Neither Cipolle nor the medical center responded to questions about his employment status.
Cipolle joined Vanderbilt’s Clinical Pastoral Education program as one of several resident chaplains in 2022. According to a program description online, resident chaplains work with theological students, health professionals and ministers from several faiths to aid patients in crisis.
The priest broke his vows, she says. She’s breaking the silence.
Before he was at Vanderbilt, Cipolle was a Catholic priest in Bangor who offered parishioners spiritual direction. Those he counseled include Melissa Kearns, who told the Press Herald that despite his vow of celibacy, Cipolle pushed her into a sexual relationship.
He took advantage of her vulnerability, she said, as someone dealing with major depressive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Kearns said she shared her story because she was concerned Cipolle could be a danger to others who are vulnerable.
Weeks before he met Kearns in August 2018, Cipolle had been renting a house with another woman, Renee Henneberry Clark, whose estranged brother-in-law shot her to death following a physical fight with Cipolle that July.
Kearns said Cipolle told her that he had also had a sexual relationship with Henneberry Clark.
The Vanderbilt University Medical Center media relations office did not respond to several emails and calls asking why Cipolle’s profile was no longer on its website on Wednesday. The office has not responded to questions regarding Cipolle’s employment status and history or the allegations of inappropriate conduct toward those in his care while he was a priest in Maine.
After the Press Herald first reached out to the medical center in March, Cipolle’s name was changed on its web page to “Anthony Thomas,” using his middle name as his last name. It’s unclear who made the change or whether it was in response to the Press Herald’s questions about Cipolle’s background.
“I am sorry, I do not have an answer,” wrote Media Relations Manager Jessica Pasley on Tuesday when asked about the name change.
The Press Herald also reached out to other resident chaplains and the program’s lead educator on Tuesday to discuss Cipolle and his work at the medical center, but received no response.
Cipolle did not respond to a call Wednesday or to a message sent to his email address at the medical center. He previously denied having taken advantage of Kearns or abusing his position as her priest, saying he considered her a friend and not a parishioner — despite admitting the two met at church and that Cipolle had offered her spiritual direction, a priestly service.
The Press Herald reviewed several texts and conducted interviews with people who observed Cipolle’s behavior with Kearns, all suggesting that the two had a sexual relationship.
Cipolle took a voluntary leave of absence from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland in late 2018. He told the Press Herald Saturday that he remains on a leave of absence while negotiating a voluntary departure from the diocese.
Bishop Robert Deeley announced in May 2020 that the diocese had expelled Cipolle, removing him from the priesthood in Maine. This was after the Maine judge who oversaw the murder trial of Philip Clark, Renee Henneberry Clark’s brother-in-law, stated during Clark’s sentencing that he believed Cipolle had “fanned the flames” of the conflict that led to Henneberry Clark’s death.
Cipolle told the Press Herald that he had successfully appealed the diocese’s decision with help from a canon lawyer.
A spokesperson for the diocese did not respond to emails seeking a response to the Press Herald’s reporting and further information on Cipolle’s status and any actions the diocese has taken to permanently remove him from the priesthood.
Cipolle has said that in preparation for his ordination in Maine, he participated in a clinical pastoral education program at Central Maine Medical Center that was similar to Vanderbilt’s program.
Even after Cipolle was expelled from the diocese in 2020, he continued his work with vulnerable populations in Massachusetts.
Spectrum Health Systems, which runs several Massachusetts clinics treating people with substance use disorder, confirmed in March that Cipolle was a care coordinator at one of its locations from October 2020 to December 2021. Spectrum declined to name the location where Cipolle worked or to say what his job entailed. Spectrum did not respond to an email Monday seeking reaction to the Press Herald’s reporting.
The priest broke his vows, she says. She’s breaking the silence.

Former Aquinas student sues former Nashville priest, Philadelphia archdiocese over abuse
LIAM ADAMS Nashville Tennessean
A former student at Nashville’s Aquinas College is suing the college’s former chaplain, Kevin B. McGoldrick, and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for McGoldrick’s alleged sexual abuse of the former student.
The lawsuit expands on reporting by the London-based Catholic Herald in 2020 detailing the former Aquinas student’s allegations. The complaint, filed Monday in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, charges the Archdiocese of Philadelphia with negligence and recklessness for allegedly failing to report McGoldrick’s history of abuse when McGoldrick moved from Philadelphia to Nashville.
“The Archdiocese of Philadelphia transferred McGoldrick to Aquinas College while he was known and/or suspected to have engaged in inappropriate conduct with other individuals, including, but not limited to, sexually abusing young females,” said the complaint from plaintiff Jane Doe, a pseudonym for the former Aquinas student, represented by the Philadelphia-based law firm Laffey, Bucci & Kent, LLP.
Former Aquinas College priest: Catholic leaders in Nashville face scrutiny over handling of sexual assault allegation
The Philadelphia Archdiocese declined to comment on pending litigation. McGoldrick could not be reached for comment.
McGoldrick, who currently resides in Nashville, was a priest in Philadelphia from 2003-2013, according to the lawsuit. He then transferred to Nashville to work at Aquinas, working at both the college and at Overbrook School and St. Cecilia Academy, a Catholic K-6 and high schools that share a campus with Aquinas along West End Avenue.
In 2017, McGoldrick allegedly served Doe alcohol and sexually assaulted her, according to the lawsuit. She was a 22-year-old junior at Aquinas at the time.

SUBMITTED
Doe reported the alleged assault to Nashville police and the Catholic Diocese of Nashville, leading to a series of disputes between Doe and the Nashville diocese and the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, which owns and operates Aquinas College. The Nashville diocese does not have authority over the Dominican Sisters, who were technically McGoldrick’s employer, Nashville diocese spokesperson Rick Musacchio said in a statement Wednesday.
In May 2020, Doe settled with the Nashville diocese for $65,000 after Doe’s attorney threatened to sue. The Nashville diocese denied any liability, saying it forwarded on Doe’s report to the Dominican Sisters, whose responsibility it was to investigate Doe’s report.
“The parties acknowledged the settlement agreement was not to be construed as an admission of validity or the merits of any claim or allegation made by the person making the report,” Musacchio said in a statement Wednesday about the diocese’s 2020 settlement with Doe. “Any and all liability was specifically denied.”
The Dominican Sisters apologized in 2020 for how it communicated to its campus about the report.
McGoldrick finished out his contract at Aquinas in 2019. The Nashville diocese has since stripped McGoldrick of his faculties and restricted him from serving in public ministry.
“A Nashville woman was sexually assaulted because the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the Diocese of Nashville, and the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia failed to protect her,” Susan Vance, who leads the Tennessee chapter of Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP), said in a statement Wednesday about Doe’s new lawsuit.
National SNAP leaders and Catholics4Change also issued statements on Doe’s suit..
Vance added in her statement, “This is blatant cover-up and wanton disregard for victims. SNAP denounces all parties who ignored McGoldrick’s sexual abuse history. We hope other victims will come forward for justice.”
New revelations
Doe’s suit includes previously revealed details from the Catholic Herald’s reporting in 2020, but also provides new details such as additional abuse allegations against McGoldrick and a timeline of when the Archdiocese of Philadelphia knew about McGoldrick’s history.
Specifically, the lawsuit alleges the Philadelphia archdiocese launched an investigation into McGoldrick in 2013, the same year McGoldrick was transferred to Nashville. Even before opening an investigation, the complaint alleges the Philadelphia archdiocese knew of assault allegations against McGoldrick during his time as priest there.

Seamus 7:46 I live in the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore and was invited to a private event last Summer. After a talk and a mass those present were served up a meal. There were three priests amongst about 60 people and they went around to the people at the start of the meal asking if everything was ok. All three came across as sincere and spoke to everyone. Nothing could be faulted with the event. In the middle of the meal Bishop Cullinan came in apologising for been late and went around to the tables meeting the people. At each table there were people from all over the country and many would not have known each other. Everyone sat and talked as they ate. There was 4 or 6 at each table. When the Bishop came to the table I was at, he asked if everything was ok and enquired where everyone was from. When I said I was from X Parish he moved on to the others at the table, speaking to them as they were from another Diocese in the West of Ireland. It was like as if he only wanted to speak to people that might know little or nothing about him, knowing that he is not popular in his own Diocese. While many lay people in the Diocese don’t take any notice of him, many of the priests who have contact with him certainly don’t like him, taking it upon himself to change the times of masses in some parishes without any consultation with the people in the parishes involved.

It should be absolutely illegal for religious ‘education’ to be taught in public schools. Supetstition and lies on impressionable ears is not education, but indoctrination, and it ought to be illegal.

I never said that I was on high but it seems to be you re drugs I could gather😉.

Its not possible to reach on high from New age therapies based on my experiences. There is certain one drug that can make you on high is Cocaine as I have heard it from friends.

I agree that I was conned by new age but the biggest problem was that priests in almost every parish never talked about it nor did they WARN us of the dangers re new age. Priests never spoke about it thus leading lot of Catholics into wrong alleys or blind alleys if you like. So Catholics thought it was OK to use new age therapies. The burden of that responsibility rests in priests, not us cos we didn’t KNOW IT, never heard etc etc. You kept your mouth SHUT and stum.

Thats why late John gillespie talked about this often which led him banned from the church, even his local church as well.

The real reason that Priests and bishops don’t want to know about it cos they didn’t want to scare their sheep out (baa baa) and keep THAT cash flow pumping and coming into their parish coffers for their own use without any accountability.

Like

Of course priest’s never talked about new age therepies why would they, cos as a Catholic you should have known they were wrong. Then curse removed, health improved or got better, spiritually more open, addiction gone. But it’s not over yet as I have some work to remove other remaining bits.
For example, I could sense some residual of blockages there but not as big as curse one.
So i decided to try out freemasonry prayer cos i had no way of knowing it if my previous ancestor’s family line were involved or not. When I said that prayer as I started to have a fit of coughs which lasted some 20 secs then it’s gone.
Why am I doing all this is because I wanted to remove any residuals or remaining bits of spiritual blockages before I go down to last one where I was abused at young age.
It’s a matter of elimination of such spiritual blockages such as freemasonry or curse or forgiveness before I start on last one (close that door finally etc ).
It takes a lot of work and research re spiritual blockages then I decide if its worth trying it out. I bought a book by Chad rippenger – deliverance for the laity. Did try few ones in that book especially freemasonry prayer.

Great, DG.
I’m aware of Fr. Rippenger’s work and publications.
Who prayed with you for removal of curses, hexes, spells.. etc?
You’re moving in the right direction.

It’s a wonder Catholic parents bother with religious rites of passsge for their kids these days, given what we all know now about these pastors. I mean what’s the point? There’s nothing to be gained by them. It’s all a bit of street theatre, really. Passé.

Glad to hear it that im moving to right direction. Are you a priest or ??

I met late Fr Bill from India when he visited Ireland. He was a powerful healer as he was a vincentian order priest. He told me that i must give testimony re abuse in order to receive healing which i did.

Then next morning i found my self heavily soaked in bed after the night before (he said to assistant tell me that my prayers answered but i didnt know which one). Hence soaked in bed which i think it was the HS.

His website is http://www.frbill.net

That was the start of finding out but he passed away. Then a decade later i met John Gillespie and bought his book. The concept of spiritual blockage came into my mind when i read his book cos it fits re prayers not answered for some reason or another or no progress made etc. Hence blockage etc.

Re prayers for removal, i used Fr Rossetti online monthly sessions which i watched it in the last 6 months to date.

Finally i would need a priest who would be willing to pray with me for removal of curses rather than online. Online monthly session isnt good enough but not 100% effective cos it would take many months of online sessions to do the job.

Ok. I’d rather not say for the moment, DG.
I’m familiar with Fr. Bill and Fr. Rossetti work.
Did you ever come across ‘The Fuzz Factor- A Fools guide to Reality- by Jimmy Clair? In it he covers a wide range of topics. The second edition came out in 2017, published by Kolbe Ltd, Cork, Ireland. It’s a terrific read for anyone particularly Catholics.

Thanks for your further comment. I know now who is publishing that book as its located in Cork.
Also I have that little book on key to powerful prayers. It’s amazing cos it stopped my BP as doctor were baffled cos they were expecting HBP but saw it went down. They asked me what happened as I said nothing. It was that little book which was powerful prayers if said with faith.
Even Brian o hare author of John gillespie book, admitted to me it’s powerful cos some people rang him saying its working etc.
BTW, Jimmy Clair is from Clare as I just found out more info on that ‘fuzz’ book. It’s only available on 1st edition but not the 2nd edition.

Ok. Interesting. I read Brian O Hare’s book on John Gillespie,’The Miracle Ship, sometime ago, DG. I didn’t know Jimmy Clair is a Clare man.

Anyone would think you’d never been to a first communion. The boys line up at the back of the church for the starting pistol, and race to the front for communion. They get rosettes according to their place.
This race is not to be confused with the times Cardinal Burk celecbrates mass, that’s a Drag Race.

Red rosettes foe Confirmation – the Holy Spirit descending on disciples at Pentecost in forms of tongues of fire.
White for Communion – feasts of the Lord.

Like

3:25 Strange, I’m just thumbing through the Catechism of the Council of Trent and there is no mention of rosettes.
I love the way cathbots (the Irish are particularly bad at this) are unable to disentangle a particular cultural expression from their religion. It shows the narrowness of their world and an absence of catholicity.

You’ve never studied theology. A degree in the subject diesn’t mean you know everything sbout the subject but it ought to guarantee you would know where to find what you needed. Now perusing the Tridentine catechism to find what is essentially an instance of national enculturation of Catholic liturgy is entirely the wrong place to look. It’s no wonder you can’t find it.

Horses for courses. They’re thinking of the MONEY. Kids receive hundreds and sometimes thousands of euros in Ireland for First Holy Communion and Confirmation and it’s the topic of discussion in many schools for the week in class after the event.

10:23 I don’t know why people say catechesis is currently ineffective: these kids have clearly internalized the core principles of the RC praxis. If they’re failing to parrot the cover story for the rest of their lives they have nonetheless taken in the essential bit. 🙏

So yesterday we have the Fonz taking (only) the trousers of one of his priests who’d tried to kill himself and today we have 10:09 saying the boys aren’t dressed properly for their communion and the Fonz doesn’t know his episcopal dignity.
And you wonder why your religion has a reputation for being at best barmy and at worst dangerous?
Not every parent can afford a suit or whatever for a first communion, and I am completely certain that if one of those princess type communions was pictured you’d all be moaning about the expense.
When I got married it was in a register office with two old friends and our remaining parents. I wore a suit from a charity shop and my wife a summer frock ditto. We all had lunch in a pub. I add this detail because everything anyone ever says drives you all wild and my wedding is almost bound to.

Next month will see the farewell of the Catholic Truth Scotland some will be glad and some will not but we do it Our way
Very sad the founder Patricia was barred from the Glasgow SSPX says more about them that it does Patricia at least we have never excluded anyone from our Chapels as Pope Francis has said who are we to do that.
Yes some will say we have barred Father Stephen Dunn but that is NOT accurate as His Grace has suspended him from saying Mass for many reasons and not just because he is part of the LMB network.
Patricia was very upset when Martin Blackshaw SSPX withdrew from speaking at the conference likely due to pressure from the SSPX or his holiday bf B (you know who he is).
So all direct debits and standing orders to CTS has to be stopped with grateful thanks.
Patricia like Patrick runs a good race however we won the fight with CTS.
Maybe Patrick will take over as spokesperson for Scotland.

19 When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went into the region of Judea to the other side of the Jordan. 2 Large crowds followed him, and he told them if they didn’t stop he would take out a restraining order.

13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
14 Jesus said, “Stop the little children coming to me, and hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven doesn’t belong to such as these.” 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.
The Rich and the Kingdom of God
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
17 “Google it, ya cretin!” Jesus replied.

I see Littleton made an appearance against yesterday. Chasubles, maniples, venial sin separating us from God, etc. etc. Used to be called Littletwink when visiting Matthew Jolly at Oscott. Now that caught my attention ! No, I am not the stalker of last year. Just interested in what someone so precious as Littleton is doing connected with Jolly. What is the connection ? Littleton wasn’t at Oscott at anytime, was he ? So how is he mates with Jolly ? Strange connection. I encourage all Oscott correspondents pat and present to let us know the inside story. Jolly, I imagine, is now out of prison. What’s that young man going to do with is life ?

Guilty by association ? Maybe. But, if Littletwink was pally with Jolly, I think it’s a good question to ask. How well did they know each other. What did they do when they palled around together ? Simple questions, to which there should be simple answers. Other than that, Littleton’s style, personal and liturgical, does seem to piss people off. He does have something of the irritating jerk about him. Dunno ?
