DUBLIN ARMY CHAPLAIN CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT OF MALE SOLDIER.

https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-41145778.html

Am army sergeant who was told to pretend he was gay by a defence forces chaplain who then sexually assaulted him has been commended for his “courage” by the Defence Forces.

Fr David Tyndall was convicted at Dublin District Court last week of sexually assaulting his then colleague on January 16, 2015, at Cathal Brugha Barracks in Rathmines in Dublin.

The 58-year-old served as a Defence Forces Chaplain from 2008 to 2021 before being removed from the role over the incident.

On Friday, Fr Tyndall received a three-month suspended sentence under Section 2 of the Sex Offenders Act after he pleaded guilty to kissing and touching Sergeant Noel Brennan.

Waiving his right to anonymity, Sgt Brennan told the Irish Examiner the priest asked him to pretend he was gay, in order to get an annulment of his marriage.

Mr Brennan said: “I still have nightmares over what he did to me, and I have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

“This was a man I thought I knew,” said Mr Brennan “He had married me and my former wife.

“I went to him for help, and he just lunged at me out of nowhere after asking me to pretend I’m gay, which he said would get me an annulment. I told him there was no way I was going to say that.

“I can still see his bloodshot eyes and the froth on both sides of his mouth when he attacked me.

“He was like a man possessed. I was afraid I’d have to submit to him; he was a former rugby coach, and he was bigger and stronger than me.”

PAT SAYS

How stupid of Fr Tyndall to act like this.

He assaulted and totally offended a young soldier whose marriage to a woman he had celebrated.

Tyndall assaulted the young soldier who went to him for help.

The priest told the young soldier to pretend he was gay to get an annulment

I’m afraid Tyndall has proven himself unfit for ministry and needs to seek another job.

And sure enough…
After the denunciation of seminarians accusing the founder of the Institute, Don Carlos Miguel Buela, of sexual abuse, a decree[6] of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life, signed by Cardinal Gardin in 2010, judged these accusations to be plausible and found Don Buela guilty of inappropriate behavior with adults.[7] He then had to leave Argentina and retire to the Abbey of La Pierre-qui-Vire in France. In 2016, he moved to Genoa, Italy.[8] The Institute of the Incarnate Word continues on its website to refer to its founder,[9] honors him following his death,[10] and remains silent on abuses.
Abuse, denial, a monastery hiding an abuser. Why does this sound so familiar.

The Irish Defence Forces are already dealing with the scandals that have emerged on the ill treatment of women serving in their ranks. Seems the last place one should dare turn is to a RC cleric in ones lowest moments. RC views everything from their own self interested perspective and don’t hesitate to circulate details and images of anyone they perceive as a threat to the interests of themselves and their cohorts. They have no qualms about deliberately endangering victims and survivors of church related abuse such is their unchristian determination to achieve their own targets of continuing to abuse others in various context. In short, a danger to society.

Classic sexual assault by a cleric of the Catholic persuasion their modus operandi strike when the adult is vulnerable or a child who is always vulnerable and of course, always without consent.
What is it about Catholic clergy and consent are they so entitled, so arrogant and conceited that they think they can smash and grab someone’s sexuality and human dignity.
Also either the day before or even the same day the chaplain woukd have celebrated Mass – big difference that made to his life and conduct.
This case didn’t involve a child – he will go on a sabbatical and pop up somewhere else – but he’ll be back again before the courts, mark my words because they never learn.

Priesthood creates hierarchy, a power imbalance. This despite Jesus’ warning that his disciples (not priests: Jesus didn’t institute priesthood) were to be servants, not masters who lorded it over others. Let’s be honest: isn’t this what priests do? Lord it over others?
This imbalance acts as a powerful aphrodisiac, and the poor priest just can’t keep his sticky fingers to himself, whether it be over a boy, or (in this case) a young man. It’s why priesthoid attracts the vilest of personnel: the opportunities for sexual exploitation and sin are cornucopic.

So how about you put your money where your mouth is and prove that Jesus established priesthood.
I’m just popping out to William Hill to put a fiver on that the only evidence you can bring is church documents saying he did, ie again the same level of evidence you criticise 10:27 for.

If I was a dog with a bone as it would be Nichols of Westminster. He’s pretentious and another Kieran Conroy in disguise with his nun.
Was in knock few days ago cos I realised there was no healing mass with oil anywhere. So I had to go to knock to get it done.
What I didnt expect to see when I went inside the old parish church was 1st holy communion with travellers milling around as Richard gibbons was speaking from the pulpit. He was kind of bit laughing at them who knows or could read his mind cos it looked more of a party rather than a solemn mass.
I realised that gibbons has the easiest job cos he doesn’t have to work very hard, just delegating priests to mass and confessions. He doesn’t have to sweat it and toil it out.
Then I went back to Dublin the next day as I didn’t expect to see was Leo the TEE SHOCK there cos I never saw him in the flesh until now.
Tall and handsome fellow, a friend of mine who is still a hard drinker who still call him as Gay Leo in his texts. His clothes looked immaculate and perfect with the words of Orson Wilde ‘spick and span’ It was in that poem’ ballad of reading gaol’ which I read it for my leaving. But he looks gay from outside looking at him in lovely sunshine out there now.
You might have guessed it that I’m in Dublin for now then off later.

Further to my earlier post, I was puzzled cos Kirby was hopping from one country to another country (how many times?) without being arrested nor laicaised. Why was Kirby protected at all costs cos bishops were reluctant to move him nor set a process to report or remove him. I’m guessing that Vatican curia knows more about him than we do.

Why was no complaints made against Kirby until Anderson made one over the years?

Kirby should be reported to Dutch police or interpol given his record re hopping around various countries and getting away with murder re abuses not reported nor brought up to attention – against Kirby.

My question is- can any layperson report Kirby to the Vatican curia, or it might be expected to brush it under the carpet.

Still my view is it’s imperative to report him to the police such as Dutch and the interpol re his movements plus the Secular authorities as well.

What was weird was that he brought two novices with him(was that correct cos I could be wrong there, correct me if I’m wrong as I would gladly accept it). Concerned for these 2 novices cos they might be very green as regards to Kirby’s proclivities.

12:11. Not only Mark Kirby, the Roman Catholic Church locally and internationally share intelligence including images on whistleblowers to protect their own corrupt interests. Yet law enforcement agencies must be aware that RC are constantly moving clerics and other personnel from one location to the next to evade the justice system. It beggars belief.

In this case, Rcc intentions is to evade justice on deliberate grounds on the basis that their aim of avoidance of being caught, then rcc should be treated as a criminal organisation as such cos of their true intentions.

It truly beggers belief that law enforcement agencies aren’t up to speed cos they aren’t not aware. That’s why I would like to see someone report Kirby to both – Dutch police and the interpol just to make them aware and up to speed etc which would be massively appreciated in my view.

On a serious note, you don’t show much familiarity with sacramental theology. The sacramental nature of marriage, for example, consists in the fact that in loving the other each one expresses their love for God. And conversely, when each person receives love from the other, they are receiving God’s love.

Moving diocesan priests about every few should not be custom and practice. If a priest is doing well with his assignment, there should be a preference for leaving him in place. However, it is no easy matter.
I hope +Pat will pardon this now off topic divergence, but Catholic Herald has a defence of St JP2 written by a Pole which defends how the late Pope dealt with abuse in Poland. Some even claim that JP2 suffered abuse as a seminarian and the articles notes that. A key contention is that Polish liberal critics are relying on Secret Police materials which might be meant to calumnate.

If the article is accurate, JP2 was better than say Cushing of Boston giving Paul Shanley a ministry to street youth after a decade of complaints or reports from a mother, a priest and others. However, the obstructive and disbelieving attitude towards claims and reports against Maciel and others still is a huge questionmark against him. Also did JP rove out at night with a Polish monsignor in search of female company as a brother of a murdered daughter of a Vatican employee implied (altho the brother rowed back a bit)? Pope Francis certainly was clear in his defence of his canonised predecessor.
