KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (ChurchMilitant.com) – Bishop Richard Stika of Knoxville, Tennessee, green-lit tens of thousands of dollars in payment for the education and living expenses of a former seminarian accused of rape.
After viewing a letter to St. Louis University in Missouri, Knox News reported that the bishop authorized his diocese to pay $48,258 for Wojciech Sobczuk’s 2021–2022 school year costs.
“Bishop Richard Stika’s actions when ex-seminarian Wojciech Sobczuk was expelled from St. Meinrad Seminary are shocking. Immediate placement at St. Louis University at the people’s expense. This is an outrage,” tweeted Susan Vance, head of Tennessee’s Survivor Network of those Abused by Priests.
According to Knox News, “The letter, dated April 12, 2021, is on Office of Bishop letterhead and signed by Stika.”
In 2021, Sobczuk was kicked out of St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana over complaints of sexual harassment. The rector explained the dismissal in a March 1, 2021, letter to Stika:
One student said the Knoxville seminarian, who is Polish, invited him to his dorm room, told him his American accent was “sexy,” and tried to hold his hand, prompting the student to immediately leave. Another student said he was undressing to go to bed when he noticed the Knoxville seminarian gazing at him from his room across a courtyard in the dormitory.
A third student described the Knoxville seminarian’s aggressive attempts to touch him during a visit to the Knoxville diocese, and his suggestion that the two sleep in the same bed. The student also said the seminarian asked him about his penis in messages sent through Snapchat.
Stika told priests in 2021 that the former seminarian had been dismissed from St. Meinrad because of “boundary” issues.
“He just wanted to be a priest, and he came to this country … to be a priest, and his name has been defamed by priests in this diocese, by seminarians, by Susan Vance, who wins the war again,” claimed Stika.

Yes, this Subczuk affair looks like just one small channel of a multi national swamp of corruption. Why was a nice Polish boy like Woyciech Subczuk going to a seminary in Indiana, thousands of miles from home? Apparently he was recommended by Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, Archbishop of Krakow.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ex-church-worker-tennessee-claims-lawsuit-was-raped-seminarian-rcna17469
Earlier in his stellar career Cardinal Dziwisz was secretary to Pope John Paul II. According to Dziwisz’s Wiki biography, he channeled piles of money from the molester, embezzler and drug abuser Father Marcial Maciel of Mexico (yes, the guy who founded the Legion of Christ, sired six children, molested his own children and raised hundreds of millions of dollars). And Dzuwisz covered up for Cardinal Hans Groer, Archbishop of Vienna.
Did Dziwisz have an urgent reason for moving Subczuk far from home?

Well, this case of supporting / protecting a rapist may be pretty atrocious, but remember that there are bishops in our own back yard who day after day continue to support priests who clearly have serious problems that run counter to being a priest – JPL of Portsmouth, who is a sex pest who comes on to straight me; Rory of Armagh who sends dick pics on Grindr; Bareback Purcell who shags people on the monastery kitchen table and heads off for extra-curricular bareback sex in the gay sauna; and many more. All of these are being protected and facilitated by bishops with money, support, and an inability to do the right thing and cut them loose.

Yet more evidence of the moral rottenness of Romanist priesthood: it can never produce anything other than rotten fruit, and it never fails to do so.
Jesus was clear: discileship is about servanthood and service, not about ego-building power-weilding. But tell this to cardinals Rigali and Dwiski, and to Bishop Stika, who does so love his ‘seat of POWER’.

Sometimes it’s not about persuasive argument, but about wilful refusal to listen to it. Mockery made by clerics ( most of them I discovered too late.) No human being is capable or holy enough – nowhere near – to transubstantiate. They have defiled the purest of symbols for me. The Eucharistic table. I will not go to that table again, after 63 years of being taught to do so. Regardless of whether they’re having sex on the altar – that’s one aspect of sacrilege isn’t it. Shows no one or few clerics are listening. It’s children from EVERY background raped and abused. Financially poor people more vulnerable – his / her stance stereotypical of middle / upper class backgrounds – no idea or at worst they had same housing & ‘quality’ of life but becoming a priest etc erased the truth of their backgrounds from their minds. Poor, sad bas***** & bit****! Allows themselves to rationalise their political abuse as well as the rest. Angry still over everything RCC. Hoping it will abate soon! with partners.
