Dear Pat,
What an overwhelming surprise and support I have received since you decided to place a FALSE blog on my name however from Episcopates, Clergy, Religious, Colleagues and Friends the World over I was flabbergasted.
The situation was totally the opposite to which I thought I would get however the common theme was it shows you the person Pat Buckley is and the low levels that he goes to with negative effect.
I spoke with our KC (not the RCC one) and he said it is not worth even writing a letter as you cannot sue for sawdust and the blog gives you a frill and would give another day’s blog.
They laughed at it even although you say to your bloggers it is a waste of time it still does not stop you from emailing them.
You should think about the concerns you give to others with your inaccurate information or accusations as others are not as strong as me.
However, we are just grateful that we can see Our Lord in others rather than constantly picking on those that struggle in life that being the sick, needy and the lonely as you take great thrills from that nastiness.
However, like your friend Robert Harkins that worked for the DWP and struck more people off and never thought about the families or the children it was all a frill and another one bites the dust well thankfully the SVP is there to help those people.
Everyone would love the luxury and live FREE in a property like a Lord but some of us have principles and the £600 a month for your rent you should give it ti a charity.
To conclude your blog on me was not accurate and false and I have Personal Alcohol Licenses for Scotland and a separate one for England and Wales and you cannot get them with a Breach of Peace never mind anything else and the Three Chief Constables have NEVER objected to my licenses since they were introduced in 2003 and mine is up for renewal this year and will automatically be granted.
As the KC said just ignore it and I did not even read the comments on your blog again and I didn’t ask the KC will we complain to the blog providers and the answer is not worth it as he will just apart another one.
And when you have to go back 15 years to try and get muck on someone it just shows the lowliness of you.
So I will continue to pray for you and all who follow the Blog.
May you have many blessings in 2023.
God Bless
John McCubbin Msc CMS MIH
A HERMIT’S PROFESSION

Yesterday, at The Oratory in Larne, we had the joy of professing a hermit.
Brother John, in his early 70s, a widower, a father, and a grandfather pledged to live the life of a solitary and to give himself over to prayer and God’s service.
He had already been living this life for several years but wanted to formalise it and make simple promises.
We wish him well and ask your prayers for him.
HERE’S HARRY

I don’t understand John McCubbin. His comments are very poorly written. Can someone explain why he’s attacking Pat? I know this guy has featured on this blog but in a harmless way. Why is he upset? As for Prince Harry – he’ll go down as the biggest dumbo in the Royal Family. A classless fool. He deserves all his self manufactured travails. A young, privileged, self indulgent, lazy, spoilt brat. He has no shame. Money is now his hobby. King Charles should leave him sulk in USA.

A nun told me something years ago which I think might be helpful for anyone discerning religious life. Some vocations in the church come and go (such as teaching sisters) but some are permanent and have lasted centuries such as the monastic orders.
These permanent vocations have different emphasis at different times but don’t go away, so if the life of one of these vocations is totally screwed or they can’t get people to stay, it’s not that there is a lack of vocations or there is something wrong with society, it will always be because the community isn’t actually living the life.
Shagging in a gay bath house being an example.

I have never heard so much rubbish in my life this total fantasist is truly in a world of his own. First he shows how malicious and vindictive he is by going to a KC to try and shut the blog down. The KC would have given him short shrift by telling him everything said was already in the public domain. He then attacks Patsy about living in Diocesan property forgetting that right of residence was granted by a court in Belfast. He has a fixation on Glasgow where he does not reside, forgets that Auld Tarty (late Archbishop of Glasgow) threatened him with the Police if he contacted him again. As for holding Licenses what a laugh no one with a criminal conviction is granted an Alcohol License. Again no Civil Servant can strike any claimant off unless they have proof that the claim is fraudulent. He then reverts to his usual false piety and sanctimonious claptrap sending prayers and blessings which are as false as he is. His prayers wouldn’t reach the sky never mind anywhere else. As for the initials after his name yet another fantasy.

OMG! Patsy I’ve never heard such a lot of shite in my life. For a start McCubbin is not from Glasgow but resides in Ardeer Stevenston, he seems to have a fixation on Glasgow. There is no way he holds a a license for anything and it’s just another of his fantasies. During my working life in the Civil Service I never struck people off unless they were committing fraud which was my job. McCubbin has been claiming sickness benefit for years, yet tells you he works in Hotels and Pubs not true. And true to form he signs off with his usual false piety and sanctimonious claptrap . What does Msc.CMS and MIH stand for?

Bp Pat was told from my recollection that this Sem would provide evidence and requested to meet with Pat in Dublin. The result was nothing and continues to be nothing. For the umpteenth time I suggest this fellow takes this to the Guards. I fear his many outbursts about all the usual named people is fuelled by alcohol and it’s obvious he cannot seem to move on with his life. He should seek help for his own sake and well being. His behaviour indicates a total obsessiveness with these people. Perhaps they did wrong him but he needs to find someone to talk to for his own sanity.

Well done in consecratung/ordsuning s hermit. Where will he live and practice the daiky format of an heremetical life? Has he a forest cabin somewhere or is it in your back garden? I’m dreaming of such idyllic existence after 45 years and feeling the burn out and the deep desire for aloneness in contemplation. The thought of just having the freedom to be alone and pray and search contemplatively is very attractive to me now. Why? There is so much nonsense being spoken about in the church about renewal, building hope and parish partnership that my head is spinning into total confusion. It’s simplicity of thoughts and action and do-able things we need not templates of words which are going nowhere.

Excellent summary of the situation, Pat. He was a cold fish when he was a CC in Enniskillen for a few months, which is the extent of his pastoral experience, though he used to spend a few weeks in Lough Derg on the staff but he always seemed to avoid talking to the pilgrims. In Enniskillen he was very detached and seemed bemused to be in a parish.
Joe Duffy had a bad habit of pushing forward “chosen ones”, however pastorally inept eg Joseph McGuinness, Ciaran Murphy and Seamus Quinn. and Noel was one of the early chosen ones. Meanwhile, Joe Duffy considered himself to be a man of letters (though a Maynooth MA was his highest achievement) and he was profoundly Europhile. Joe used to converse in good Irish and bad French with his only friend, Mgr Brendan Devlin of Maynooth. Together they conspired to get Noel his sinecure in Brussels. Joe will be delighted.

Best of luck telling Br Malachy Thompson anything, his life’s mission is to cover up and keep silent as he is very nervous about bad publicity. Obviously the community has become very small and the options to lead the community were very very limited as most of the monks are very elderly. Malachy is a man with limited talent, ability and intellect and would fail to get the bigger picture. Of course he knows about and knew about what Dick Purcell was doing in the guesthouse and college buildings. Malachy I think has his own secrets, the problems Malachy had when he arrived in Roscrea have not gone away. Mount st Joseph is a very strange place with secrets and cover ups.

This is very upsetting. The Cistercians are not the first order to abuse good people through control and clerical dominance. The communication to you +Pat is as important for what it doesn’t say as much as what it does say. The person who wrote it visited the guesthouse and had a friend who was in the monastery. The peace of wild things – Wendall Berry
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

But in this case (if this is true) I am prepared to make an exception because you will have exposed the self-serving narcissism, the duplicity, and the hypocrisy of Tony Flannery.
This is the question that really caught my eye “Are you in a position to proffer any insight why his brother, Fr. Tony Flannery C.Ss.R., has maintained a steadfast silence about his deceased brother”?
So the next time Tony Flannery opens his mouth about anything he should be challenged about the alleged behaviour of his deceased brother. He and the ACP should crawl under a rock and keep silent.

More importantly, how come the people of Armagh diocese just have this man, good though he may be, foisted upon them, parachuted in, without any reference to them ? The appointment of bishops business in the Church is ridiculous, done in the dark by men (and only men) appointing cut out cardboard copies of themselves, without any reference in any form to the people who pay for them and will pay for the new bishop, and who is supposed to be their servant. It’s crazy. It’s unsustainable. And the track record is not great, looking at the calibre of bishops that are about. There surely has to be another and better way.
One of the problems in the Church is the inability to think outside the box. For example, what to do about clericalism. Current leaders in the Church, because they all are cut from the same cloth, and are part of a self-perpetuating old boys’ club, simply can’t come up with new and innovative ideas about how the Church should develop. So, it is always more of the same. That in part has to do with the way that appointments are made. So, why not involve the people of God and give them a say ? Then we might come up with the leaders we need for the time we are in. We need holy leaders, inspiring leaders, humble leaders, and yes, we need men and women of every hue and background and diversity. Rather than grey, advanced aged, set in their ways, puppets of a self-perpetuating incestuous system.

Pat, do you have any information about how the Diocese of Derry is currently doing under Bishop Donal McKeown? He made a big part of his Chrism Mass address focusing on the lack of priests and the coming of mass reductions in Derry, possibly starting this August with the upcoming clergy changes.
I was speaking with a priest who serves in one of the city parishes of Derry, who I have known for 13 years now, he is a trusted man, and he told me he is worried that parishioners will not know what hit them, as Bishop McKeown has a huge plan, to drastically cut back clergy numbers, merge more parishes and reduce mass times by 50%, especially in the main Derry City parishes from August 2019.
He said currently, Saint Eugene’s Cathedral has too many masses with too little priests. They just have two resident full time priests living in the cathedral house, and are assisted by three very old retired clergy and the bishop. Two vigil masses on a Saturday evening and five masses on a Sunday. He said he does not know how the cathedral has managed with that schedule up to this point.
He said there was an example of the lack of priests available last month, when a person died in the neighbouring Long Tower parish, and the one resident priest there was away on a hospital call, and no other priest was available, so the call had to be transferred to the cathedral, where both priests were also away on emergency calls, and the emergency had to be dealt with by a retired priest, in his mid 80s, as there was no other option.
Derry parishioners have been living with plenty of mass times, and they have been cushioned a bit from the fall in clergy numbers, but this priest has seen the plans for the diocese, and boy are they in for a shock.
Your thoughts?

He’s too busy looking over his manicured lawns whilst drinking his expensive wines that Glover has acquired for him (for carrying out blessings!). This diocese is a cesspit of everything that is unholy and un christian. They really do think that they are better than the rest of us . Until parishoners stop handing over money, nothing will change. It’s one scandal after another and they just do not care. Not one bit. Not one iota. A diocese which was relieved of 4 million to fund Treanors lavish palace and his decadent lifestyle. O’hagan will be gutted in case he now has to do some work. These two clowns represent everything that is wrong with the RCC. Cover up merchants with no back bone who have allowed the diocese to crumble under their tenure whilst allowing their priests to do whatever they want and live whichever way they choose as long as the coffers keep getting filled. Lisbreen has simply become mafia headquarters for the diocese. Christ is nowhere to be seen in this

This is typical of the Catholic Church. Any problem which they create, they simply wring their hands and say ‘No comment’. So not only is Treanor found wanting in terms of his pastoral skills he is also guilty of cowardice. If a sheep gets hurt , the shepherd tends to it . Treanor’ s idea of shepherding would appear to be – leave the sheep to suffer. This is beyond contempt. The more I hear of this individual the more saddened and angry I become. How could such a man become a bishop? But then again how could McCarrick become a cardinal? Treanor’s lack of compassion and respect for this woman is only prolonging and exacerbating her suffering. This has been the modus operandi for years. Create havoc and if you are found out keep schtum. Meanwhile Treanor will continue to live in his luxury pad uncaring that one of his sheep is in turmoil. take off your blinkers Treanor and open your heart . Ask yourself. What would Jesus do? He certainly would not take your course of action. He still lets Eugene O’Neill away murder in st pats, sheer ruined the place

Why would the Vatican curia sent BLING Bishop Treanor who is described as ‘cold fish’ to Brussels?
That doesn’t make sense to me. That would need a lot of experience in diplomatic language and a huge capacity for wines.
I was in Brussels once years ago visiting EU office for the Deaf which was close to eu main office. I was astonished at length and range of wine tables at various EU places.
BLING Bishop won’t be spending much in new home lavishly like he did in his diocese.
I saw that he’s to become an Archbishop – an ambassador role I think.

Fr O’Neill is like Treanors sheriff of Nottingham. He has applied charges for everything, even putting up the price for lighting a candle!! This priest is destroying St Patrick’s. He is so aloof from the parishioners. Maybe because they don’t speak like him he thinks that they are beneath him. Sooner he is gone the better. He is not well liked at all which is probably a first for St Patrick’s whose parishioners usually embrace and cherish their priests. This man however is a bloody joke. He’s a Lisbreen man through and through. He’s not a priest either for nor if the people. Strikes me as a social climber who is very ambitious to attain higher office. Eugene O’Neill is a prize Prat and indeed has alienated many of St Pat’s parishioners.
Indeed, like the missing “Dean” of Belfast, he’s a walking clerical parody.
Nothing to do with his strange accent. His pastoral skills are ZERO.
He is very lazy and lives for his “away” time – away from the parish –
much like the disappeared “Dean” used to – who now has all the time away that he can handle – and then some!
O’Neill made the previous two curates’ lives miserable to the extent that they asked to be moved after just a year of his arrogant carry on.
It needs to be impressed upon Mr O’Neill that the day of clerical dictatorship is at an end.
I suspect this taking from the homeless may be more to do with
O’Neill than NT and O’Neill is engaging in his usual ass kissing. NT won’t like the bad publicity if this story is true.
If this story is true, the local papers will be reporting it and it will look very very bad indeed.

Neither should you be visiting the sick. +Treanor buries his head in the sand. Seems to be a feeling that if he ignores things that they just go away. This isn’t so. The least +Treanor owes his flock is courtesy and respect . He demonstrates neither. Either he is incompetent or listens to bad advice from a Christian perspective. Career priests like O’Hagan and Fox need to be moved aside. What do they do to contribute to the spread of the gospel? Sweet fanny adams. These three individuals have a lot to answer for . I’ve noticed today that there have been some very defensive and aggressive comments, evidently from priests, who do not like the idea that the rest of us now see beyond what they want us to see, and clearly see and note the entitled comfort that they have become accustomed to and take as their right. They have been rumbled, and they do not like it. Hence the really quite defensive comments, telling us that we know nothing, and to mind our own business, and that we are fools who know nothing. Well, sorry to tell you, dear Fathers, that we know an awful lot, and we are no longer prepared to turn a blind eye, or to indulge you anymore. Which has always been at our expense, remember. + Pat may not be the paragon of virtue and wisdom that he might think he is, but he at least is transparent, and has taken a path where he provides for himself and supports his own ministry, I believe in quite a simple and unextravagent lifestyle. So let me get this straight:
1. Fr Eugene O’Neill went out of his way to ensure that he was present in the British Embassy in Rome with Francis Campbell so that he could toast the queen! Francis Campbell was a contemporary of O’Neills in the wing in St Malachy’s college. Campbell eventually dropped out whilst O’Neill was forced to complete an extra year as his superiors doubted his calling !
2. Fr Eugene O’Neill apparently stated that there was little desire for a United Ireland. Was this because it would ingratiate him more with his friends in the British Embassy?
3. Fr Eugene O’Neill is appointed as administrator to St Patrick’s parish; a staunchly republican area that suffered greatly at the hands of British soldiers; their commander in chief being the very one Fr O’Neill went out of his way to toast
4: Fr Eugene O’Neill imposes a series of charges on his parishioners for services including the lighting of candles.
5: Fr Eugene O’Neill now seeks to impose charges on those providing for the homeless and needy
Does Fr O’Neill see himself as some sort of British landlord?
Is Fr O’Neill even a Christian?
Does Fr O’Neill care about his parishioners?
Is Fr O’Neill more concerned about his own status than he is about anyone else?
Does +Treanor condone O’Neills actions

I don’t think the vast majority of priests who break their vows of celibacy are addicted. Some at the far end of the spectrum maybe – those who are out day and night cruising lay-bys and woods and saunas and gay bars for casual sex – but the majority who take what they can on occasion or establish convenient sexual relationships are really only doing what they want to do knowing that they can get away with it. They compromise the vows that they have made so that they can make life more palatable. The problem is that this digs deeply in to their integrity, and undermines everything about them. How are we to listen to priests telling us about the gospel of truth and light when they themselves are messing about in the darkness ? For me this is not an issue about sexual morality. I could not care what a priest does with his bits and with whom. What I do worry about more is what he says or professes one moment, and what he does the next. If there is a mismatch then he is undermined and diminished in his credibility and integrity. Why should I listen to him ?

Other comments was Irish people may have replaced Sunday Mass with Sunday shopping.

VATICAN SUSPENDS ROMAN CATHOLIC BISHOP WITH FIVE MISTRESSES
by Jules Gomes • ChurchMilitant.com • January 7, 2023
Church Militant exposed corrupt Roman Catholic prelate William of Mysure phone call with top Roman Catholic Indian Cardinal Oswald Gracias
MYSORE, India (ChurchMilitant.com) – The Vatican has suspended an Indian Roman Catholic bishop accused of cohabiting with five (5) mistresses and fathering at least two children.
Roman Catholic Bishop Kannikadass A. William of Mysore, who has also been investigated;
for kidnapping,
embezzlement,
sodomy,
and the murder of four of his Roman Catholic priests,
has been asked by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Evangelization to take “a period of absence from the Roman Catholic ministry.”
Rome Appoints Administrator
A letter signed by Roman Catholic Archbishop Felix Machado, secretary general of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, announced that Bernard Moras, Roman Catholic archbishop emeritus of Bangalore, would take over as apostolic administrator of the Mysore Roman Catholic diocese on Jan. 7, 2023, at 6 p.m.
The letter, obtained by Church Militant, explained that the administrator would have the powers of “sede plena et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” (full seat and at the behest of the Holy See) for “the ordinary administration and pastoral care of that local Roman Catholic Church.”
Roman Catholic Clerics from the Mysore Roman Catholic diocese told Church Militant that Roman Catholic Archbishop Moras had left for Mysore and would be in the city on Saturday afternoon.
In WhatsApp groups, several Roman Catholic priests from the Roman Catholic diocese also highlighted the key role that Church Militant had played in exposing the rogue Roman Catholic bishop, despite both the Indian Roman Catholic media,
and secular media totally ignoring the story.
Truth Triumphs
Father Gnana Prakash, one of the 37 Roman Catholic priests who petitioned Pope Francis with evidence and photographs of;
William’s mistresses,
illegitimate children,
multiple bank accounts,
kidnapping,
assault,
and embezzlement,
said he was assured that “truth had triumphed.”
Prakash told Church Militant that he wished to thank;
the Holy Father,
Roman Catholic apostolic nuncio Leopoldo Girelli,
Indian Roman Catholic Cardinal Oswald Gracias of Bombay (Why thank Gracias, he was complicit by trying to cover it all up?)
and the apostolic commission that investigated William “for strengthening the faith which was disturbed.”
When the Roman Catholic Indian Cardinal Oswald Gracias goes on record to use the word ‘mischievously edited’ — he is inviting a libel action.GabTweet

Eugene OHagan expressed deep worry when he sees his name on your blog, but unless he has something to hide or something he does not want exposed why would he worry for?

The power struggles in any church should not filter down to the parishioners, it is seriously unprofessional and the two priests need to catch a grip and sort out their differences. I have raised 4 daughters who are not as bitchy as theses two.

Why is a priest on a priest salary riding an electric scooter around Antrim? Stupid looking things

You wouldn’t give the proverbial about how stupid they looked if you were disabled. Those scooters are meant to be functional and helpful (which they are), not pieces of abstract art.

I know the official teaching of the church (much ignored) is that men with long term homosexual orientation should not be ordained priests. Is there an official teaching about vocations to religious life? Would such a man be able to become a vowed religious but not a priest?
I tried looking online but everything was about the priesthood.

The RCC has gone too far into the abyss for any revival. Cathbots can deny it all they want, due to the fear that has been indoctrinated into them throughout the ages. The RCC will never bring salvation to anyone. It simply cannot. The church portrays itself as a pathway to Jesus but it is a pathway to hell on a handcart . Any church (and I suppose they all are) is riddled with hypocrisy. However the RCC has taken it to new depths. Christ has been replaced with the lure of money and power and debauchery and there is no sign that this will change even as the chickens are coming home to roost

I just saw a young woman slap the legs of a toddler and had it squealing, I spoke with her and told her that was unacceptable and she got in my face and told me to mind my own business “you fucking paedophile”. Is there any other profession that takes this sort of abuse and name calling?

Good for you, priest. I have no regard for your kind, but you showed concern, compassion, and balls in confronting that child abuser.
It’s a struggle for me, but here goes: Well done!

The mother is probably finding it hard being a parent and her nerves on edge probably suffering a headache. If instead of giving out on her parenting you asked her in a gentle way how she was and if you could help her in any way you may have got a different response..

Can I ask you something re info.
Ex gay friend was telling me that he and his gay friend from UK had sex with a priest in a sauna not far from where whitefriar Church was, back in early 1990s.
The problem was that i couldn’t find it that sauna unless he was telling me porkies. I found it very hard to believe it back in early 1990s cos we thought that most or all priests were holy as they wouldn’t do that kind of thing 🙈🤷♂️😉

Kieran Conry lost his job for having girlfriends, several of them and often more than one at the same time. I suspect laypeople couldn’t give a stuff about it, except for the lack of transparency and the double standards It would have been his brother bishops – Nichols especially – who will have put in the knife and seen him off and out. Anything to protect themselves.

Pat, apart from a few good, intelligent and worthy comments, why do you allow a profusion of inane, silly and totally irrelevant one-liners that say nothing, are often imbecilic and poorly written. We haven’t a clue who they are responding to or what they’re attempting to say. You should censor such nonsense and only print cogently written comments and when you know who they are “suppose” to be responding to. Today is full of silly one-liners and badly expressed irrelevancies.

+ Lugs Monohan must have plenty of spare time on his hands churning out a book on Benedict XVI his lide and works. Sounds very dreary.. he shoukd be minding the shop which is slowly disintegrating. Jerry Carey. Ger Fitzgerald. Tom O Gorman. Anthony Mc Mahon.. Michael Harding.. fergal o neill. Maurice harmon..Colm Hogan.. alot of good guys calling it a day.. alot of priests sick and struggling.. no amount of Keralese priests will reverse that trend.. so Lugs hides away in Westbourne writing books that are of very little interest to most

Jerry Carey, Ger Fitzgerald and Tom O Gorman Fintan and Killaloe is better off without. Scandal and disgrace follows those three. The others left and got married with the exception of Anthony McMahon but were all great priests and a massive loss to the diocese and its parishes and all young men.

I’ve never heard of a priest being referred to as a “parish chaplain”. What’s that all about? Michael Commane has been replaced as parish chaplain in Rathgar by Fr David Larkin, a Kiltegan who is one of that large band of Irish so-called missionaries who are working in Irish parishes.

I used to live in Rathgar long ago when working in Dublin. At that time, Dublin was great place to work, boozing sessions, nightclubs, cheap flats.
I used to attend that church. I never liked one priest there as I didn’t know why, maybe instinct.
